Do they serve the sandwiches cold as well as hot?

... and what time do they open?

We are planning to take a day to go to the Kennedy Space Center while we are in Disney. We are on the deluxe dining plan and I'd hate to have to buy lunch while we are at KSC when we have all of those credits waiting to be used up, so my plan is to stop by EOS on our way out to KSC and get some cold sandwiches to put in some sort of cooler/insulated lunch bag and have that for lunch while we are there. Of course this depends on what time it opens and the availability of cold sandwiches. Would they last overnight and still taste good if I got them the night before and kept them in the fridge? Is there a better idea?

Thanks for your help!:hippie:

They serve awesome sandwiches, wraps and salads and yes, you can order cold or hot. As to what time they open, I just popped onto the menu on Allears and don't see a breakfast menu on there anymore. They did used to open at around 9 am if I remember correctly, but I don't know if the absence of a b/fast menu is just an omission or if they only open for lunch now (lunch menu started at 11 am). Perhaps someone who has been recently can update us.

If you put the sandwiches straight into the fridge in your room and then into a cooler when you leave in the morning, they should be fine overnight. Getting them in the morning is all very well, but even if they do open at 9 am, they would probably only have breakfast items available at that time which would not travel too well IMO.

Our favorite CS in DTD and one of our favorites of all CS. Enjoy it! :)

You can ask to have any of their sandwiches untoasted.

If you're going to keep them overnight I might avoid mayonnaise-based sauces (they'll probably be okay in a fridge but I don't know how long you intend to carry them in a cooler) but otherwise it's fine.

This is a favorite of my young adult sons. If I were you, I would get the sandwiches the night before, and refrigerate them. Also, ask them not to put the condiments (mayo, mustard, oil & vinegar, etc.) on the sandwiches, but on the side. Then put them on when you are ready to eat, and the sandwiches won't be soggy. This is what I do for my boys when they go on all day fishing trips, and it works great. :thumbsup2

It will probably be easiest to get them the day before. We did this for our travel day and they still tasted great 24 hrs later at home!

Thanks for all of your suggestions!

I think the best bet for us will be to get the sandwiches with condiments on the side (we're not big mayo people so we don't have to worry about that) the night before... and we might as well stop by Goofy's and load up on some snacks for the car ride while we're there... :thumbsup2

Everytime I go there I always order The All American (without the Cranberries) and on the side I also order their Tomato Soup.

We finally stopped in at ES on our last trip, last day. I told my DM I was going inside to get some sweetner for my DD10's frozen lemonade we got nearby (boy was that thing sour!) but I really wanted to grab a few sandwiches for our plane ride home using our last few CS credits.:rotfl:

We were able to get our sandwiches cold and it was very clear what desserts were a part of DDP. I remember the sandwiches were pretty good and they have a fill-your-own-soda dispenser. Serving Coke products.

I think next time we take a side trip we'll grab some sandwiches here. We usually get them at GGG at GC. ES is a little easier to get to and they much more selection.

Do you happen to remember if they had any bottled drink options available?

I don't specifically but it seems to me they did offer some bottled choices. I'm sure someone else will know for sure.

I only took one picture inside (that's so unlike me!) and you can't tell from it. They do offer smoothies (not inc. in DDP)

Here's the beverages menu from allearsnet-looks to me like they have bottles.

Hot Teas, Iced Teas, or Kona Coffee $1.95

The Earl's Grey Lemonade - fresh lemonade infused with freshly brewed Earl Grey Tea or Iced Tea $1.95 for 22 ounces

Bottled Water & Sodas $2.50

Vitamin Water $2.95

Wish I could be of more help.

Thanks Dizneydaz, you are alot of help! :lovestruc

I should have looked more closely at the menu before I asked

We're big fans of Vitamin Water, so we'll probably stock up on that!

Odd that people have been able to get untoasted sandwiches. Every time I have asked they have said no due to the bread needing to go through the toaster to finish baking :confused3

Earl of Sandwich is my hands-down favorite QS place in WDW. So, so, SO good. :9

Love Earl of Sandwich!! In fact, I was debating on whether to read this thread b/c I didn't know if I could read it w/o getting an Earl craving!

So, here's the thing about their sandwiches. They are freaking delicious when they are fresh, but about on par with sandwiches from just anywhere when they are not fresh.

I know this b/c I recently stopped at the Earl in the Tampa International Plaza mall and got sandwiches to take to Clearwater Beach (about 30 minutes away)

While I'm sure our sandwiches tasted mighty fine when they were fresh, those were the worst EOS sandwiches I've had. The bread is no longer toasty - it gets soggy b/c of the spreads and I think that's a big deal. They were still okay, but not the same as fresh Earl.

Anyhow, maybe get cold sandwiches w/ the spread on the side and keep in mind that the Earl is much better fresh than wrapped up overnight and then eaten.

hmmm.... that's something to take into consideration

We haven't been to EoS before, so we won't know the difference (well, I will now - but everyone else will be clueless:rolleyes1). So, maybe we'll do it this way first and then make another trip later in the week and be amazed by the difference!

Is there another option that may keep better?

Okay, let me say the sandwiches were still good. But, they don't compare to the fresh Earl so if they don't knock your socks off, you'll know why.

They should keep alright if you just ask for the spreads/wet ingredients (like pineapple in the bbq sandwich) on the side. That will lessen the sogginess.

Maybe explain to the person taking the order that you'll be eating the sandwiches later.

Now I am confused :confused3.
DH asked just last night about getting his sandwich cold. Actually he would like a hybrid of that. He was looking at the Italian and stated he didn't mind his bread toasted and warm and the cheese melted, but he wouldn't want the meats and tomato warm. So can you request that the meats and tomato be added to the sandwich after toasting? I know this is getting picky - but I am not sure how you can order here.
Thanks

Can anybody confirm that you can order your sandwich cold? There are reports of both in this thread.
Thanks in Advance.

Here is a great tip to remember the next time anyone goes there. If you are a member of AAA or CAA which is the Canadian version, you get either 10% or 15% off your bill just by showing your membership card. I forget which one is the exact number but I know it's either one and I will see for myself in a few weeks which one it is.
