Tell me about the digital file.....

I can't figure out what these are good for. I did a search on this board but came up with no matches. Most of what I'm getting now is BluRay/DVD/Digital file packs. We got the Xmen dvd's earlier this year and they had digital files, I thought maybe they could be ripped directly to iTunes but if that's the case, I went about it wrong because it didn't work. So, if you have the DVD *and* the BluRay what do you do with the digital file? Thanks!

The digital file is used to watch the movie on itunes or similar. You can take the "digital disk" and load it directly to your computer. You will be asked for a serial number and then it will be automatically downloaded. I have had trouble in the past, but they should work with little effort.

Ah, okay. Well that was what I was thinking made the most sense

So, does it rip like a regular CD (you put it in and a prompt box comes up asking what you want to do with it) or do you have to open iTunes and start the process from there? And where does one find the serial number? Thanks so much!

You will need to open Itunes and the serial number is usually on a separate piece of paper located in the DVD case.

It doesn't have to be iTunes. You can also do a copy that is Windows Media Player compatible. It'll ask you when you load the disk which to do.
