Hello everyone!

We just booked one of the deluxe rooms in the garden wing at the Contemporary for October 2017! We've only stayed at Contemp once and it was in a Tower room. I'm a little nervous about staying in the garden wing but figured the extra space of the deluxe room would be nice since there will be 3 of us. We've gotten used to staying in 1 bedroom villas at Beach Club and Boardwalk but wanted to try something different this time around! Has anyone stayed in these rooms recently? Any pros/cons I should know about? Thanks in advance!

I haven't stayed in a deluxe room, but have stayed in the wing many times. I actually prefer it to the tower. The main difference is that you won't have a balcony, although the ground floor rooms do have patios so you could try to request one of those if you enjoy outdoor space. It's not really much different time-wise to get from a wing room to the restaurants and monorail than it is in the tower. The elevators take so long in the tower, and our experience has always been that they are packed when one does stop and we often had to wait for a second or third one. You'll have to come back and post some photos - I've always wanted to stay in one of those!

These can be great rooms but with the replacement of the north wing by the Bay Lake Tower, there are only 3 left in the south wing: 5109, 5209 and 5309.

They are a pentagon (5 sided shape). They are all at the same spot in the first bend in the south wing on the inside corner looking into the walkways / pool area, just past the Hospitality suite on each floor and about 5 standard rooms.

5109 - first floor with 2 patios and 2 sliding doors ( 2 chairs / small table on each patio )
5209 - second floor - no balcony but 2 sliding doors that open with a railing right at the slider.
5309 - third floor - no balcony but 2 sliding doors that open with a railing right at the slider.

Each of these rooms have a King bed and a Queen sleeper sofa. These rooms have very big open spaces, The sleeper sofa is set away from the King bed in a small sitting group with a modern love set and a footstool and an oval coffee table.
