Tell me about the Cherry Blossom Parade in DC???

What can you tell me about this parade - is it REALLY that awesome!!!!

My family happened upon this parade by accident one year.
It was fantastic.
Also alot of great things were thrown into the crowd during the parade.
My favorite was the best icecream sandwich I have ever eaten.
If you get a chance - go - besides the blossoms are BEAUTIFUL!!

It just so happens that we will be there (quite ironic thing happening actually) with my daughter's class (well, my daughter and I will be there with her class) and my husband will be there for a conference - yes at the same time and the trips were not purposely scheduled at the same time. So we are staying an extra day so we can do something as a family (we were suppose to come home on Friday and he was going to come home on Saturday because he got a better flight) and he has brought up this parade after doing a search to see what's going on then.

I'm excited to see the blossoms!!! This will be my first time in DC so am truly psyched! (well we drove through there on our way home from our vacation this past summer and that was excitement in itself)

Another question - do you really think it's worth getting the grandstand seats if we can? The bigger problem is that I'm 4'9" and I can't see watching a parade that I can't see. Whereas if we were in the grandstand, I could at least see it and enjoy it.

We just happened to arrive towards the end of the parade. From what I saw, I would think the Grandstand would be worth it. Especially to guarantee you won't miss anything. Have a great time. I'll wish for you!!
