I just booked the ASMovies prefered room. Tell me all about it. What room should I request, How is the transportation is the food good . Thanks

We stayed at ASMo in 2001 & it was great! The transportation was fantastic both to & from the parks. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. And the food court is the best I've seen at a WDW resort, with plenty of choices for everyone, very clean, nicely laid out, a lot of open space, and very efficient service. Have a great trip!

We really liked ASMo. The food court was the standard counter service like at the parks, but lots of choices and run efficently. The bus service was the best we have had at any Disney resort, including the moderates and deluxes we have stayed at. The preferred view rooms are those in the Fantasia buildings which are front and center of the property with one of the big pools in between and a short walk to the food court and buses. We stayed on the top floor of one of the Fantasia buildings and liked the location very much.

The rooms are small, but plenty of room for two adults and two children, not sure how many are in your party, but we stayed in a King size room since we went without the kids that trip. I think you will like it!

Ask for Dalmations or Toy Story; they're both near the front and, strangely, not "preferred" rate. We stayed in the closest Dalmations building, and I liked it just fine, but technically I suppose Toy Story is a little closer to the bus stop.

Here's a funny story about the buses. After closing down Epcot, we were in a huge line for the All Star buses. (Closing down the parks is the only time I've seen a long line for the buses recently, and then it can be quite long...) Our wait was probably only about 10-15 minutes, and then we got a bus which stopped first at AS Sports, and then AS Music. At Music, everyone that was left except us got off the bus, and we concluded that we'd got on the wrong bus!!! Our driver was very nice, though, and made a special run up to Movies just for us. It was kind of fun, but embarassing when we got off all alone at Movies. (There was a group of people there waiting for a bus to go to Pleasure Island.)

I'm sure you'll love Movies. We're headed to Music this time, but only because the AP discount wasn't available at Movies. (It's no wonder, though, I'm sure they can fill it without having to resort [pun!] to discounting the rooms there.)

We just got back from All Star Movies. We stayed in Bldg 9 Toy Story Woody and had a room in the back, very close to the parking lot. The location was close to the food court and a short walk to the swimming pools.

We loved it!!!!! We were in Mighty Ducks. Good transportation, good choices in the food court and it was very clean. What is a PREFERRED room, I was unaware that they had such a thing.

My favorite resort stay so far! :) :bounce:
The ONLY downside I experienced was the small laundry facility for such a large resort. But that was it. Otherwise ASMo exceeded my expectations in every other area.
We also stayed in building #9, backside. I LOVED our location.
For a value resort I thought even that was well thought out. We were on the top floor. As you get off the elevators, there was a CM room. Then on the other side of that, a corridor. Then the room we had. So even though we were right by the elevators, we didn't hear the elevator *ding*.
I thought the food court variety was good, as were the prices. Once in a hurry, I even just grabbed a sandwich from the refrigerated section and thought that was good. (Or I was pretty hungry. ;) )
The CM's were the best! :)
The turbo tiolets are funny. ;)
And Andy's Room is great! :) I WANT a four story tall Buzz next to MY house!
And the transportation was PERFECT!!!
I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

they are beautiful and just a close as Fantasia! Actually if you walk behind the Woody building, poof, you are at the bus pickup for the parks! :) And, most importantly, you will save $ 10.00 a night!

We stayed at Buzz in Nov. 2001 and Woody in Feb. 2002.

We are staying at Sports because we got a rate of $ 55.00 a night! Otherwise, we'd do ASMo again!

Here is a link to some pics of ASMo

We did the prefered room thing at ASMO and found it worth the extra 10.00. We were in building 8 second floor facing the pool room 8855. We did have a little pool noise but not too much. If you want a no noise, request a room that does not face the pool. It is true that Toy Story is almost as good a location as Fantasmic building but there is no guarentee that you will get that building. By paying the 10.00 prefered you know where you will be.It is very much a matter of choice. We thought it worth it to be steps from the food court and bus stop. The bus service BTW was awsome.Food court was pretty good, and the pools were fun for my DS (9 on our last trip). You will enjoy your stay. Have fun.

We love ASMo and prefer either Toy Story or Dalmations... when we were at Dalmations we found that the Mighty Ducks pool was very easy to access and NEVER crowded.... there is also a laundry at that pool (like the one at the main pool).

We are heading back again in October .... this will be the first time we aren't getting a rental car.... can anyone tell me how long a bus ride it is to MK from ASMo??

We have a PS one night and want to go straight from the hotel to MK (this is a surprise for DH's birthday). I don't want to be late for the PS seating. Thanks!

We stayed at Movies in 12/00. It was great! We stayed in Mighty Ducks. We were given a different room at check in and it smelled like smoke so we got it changed immediately! Mighty Ducks is a little bit far from the food court and buses at movies - but not at music. We were closer to the music bus stop - could see it from our room door - so we took the music buses. The quiet pool at Mighty Ducks was nice and I used the laundry room by the pool. I have stayed at all of the all stars and would not stay at sports again (don't like the theming at all) but would stay at music or movies again in a heartbeat!!!

I would allow an hour to get to MK for a PS. It probably won't take that long but I would rather be early than late! The bus ride is probably only 15/20 minutes but you may have to wait for a MK bus and then allow walking time to get to the PS.

Thanks for the information. I tried to book the toy story room, but the CM said there were no rooms availabe with the disney card left except for preferred.DD really wanted to stay there. I didn't relize that all the Allstars are in walking distance of each other . That will be good because we want to collect pressed pennies from the hotels. Thank You again.

I don't know if this will help --- maybe if you book your stay at ASMo you can request the Toy Story building during the check-in process..... the CM's are usually very helpful and will check the computer for any last minute openings and make the change. If not, and you end up at another building, I'm sure you will still love the resort!

Good Luck!

We got one of the smoky rooms as well last year - horrid - had to wait a couple of nights to get it changed - no other rooms available. Be sure you specify a non smoking room if no smokers are in your party.

Apart from this great stay(have stayed at ASMo twice now and aim to return next October for Halloween)

Are the prefered buildings smoking or non. I would like to request building 8. Does any body no if this in non? I do not want a smoky room.... thanks....amy

There is one building that is smoking and one that is non smoking. We were in building 8. It was non smoking. I think that at some point there was a change but I am not sure if it was before or after our trip this past January. We requested and received a non smoking room in building 8.

Thanks. How did you enjoy building 8? We have never stayed here but my 9 year old would love to. Next trip I said we would stay here for a couple nights. I am difinitly going to pay extra for prefered. Is 8 really close the pool and food court?? thanks...amy

Building 8 is as close as your can get. Our room (8855) was on the end of the building closest to the stairs that led directly to the pool and the walkway to the main building. You could be in building 8 and not be that close as the building is quite large. We were not close to the elevator but were on the second floor and only used it as we were checking out. We had our bags taken to the room on check-in. Something a lot of people don't realize that All star Movies do. We also had a little walk to the ice machine but not bad at all. This is the room we will request the next time we are at All-stars. We do like All-stars. They are value resorts but we found everything we needed and wanted there. We are staying st a monorail resort next trip but we will return to all star movies again.
