Ok - so we are going for the first time for Star Wars days. :) We will be there the first weekend - actually the first day!!! :)

My DD is only almost 4 and quiet, so my guess is that she wont do the Jedi Training (although my husband would love it haha!)

What is there to do? When is the parade? Are Star Wars characters walking around? How do you get a schedule? Ok - enough with the questions!!! Thanks!

Hi Vester,
We're coming from Australia for the first time to DW and are so excited to be there in time for the Star Wars weekends.
The schedule doesn't seem to be out yet for this year, but you could use last year's to get some idea. I'm not allowed to post links yet (too much of a site newbie) but look on this site for the /guides.mgm/wdwinfo/guides/mgm/events/st-starwars-weekend.htm page

Hope that helps :}

The parade is usually before noon. You can line up for pics with the Characters. We have seen Chewy, Ewoks, Queen Amadala (sp), Darth Maul and Darth Vader, Jawas, bounty hunters, Boba and Jango Fett. The Stormtroopers onthe roof at the gate are awesome.

My son and I did it for the first time last year (when he was 5) and are going back this year. He's a big Star Wars fan, but he's also shy-ish and also is still a little frightened by some of the characters. He really enjoyed just wandering around and looking at the characters without actually standing in line to meet them. He liked seeing Darth Vader, but didn't want to actually be close to him. ;) I don't know if your shy kid is also character-concerned (LOL), but it's something to consider. Especially in the Dark Side area, there are roaming, slightly-scary Star Wars characters and they are very in character. My son quickly learned to just sort of walk around them because he didn't really want to interact with them personally, but was happy to stand back and watch.

The parade was really, really fantastic. It started at 11:40 (I think?). We got there at 11 and all the shady seats were already saved. It was a long wait in the intense sun and heat. So if you want shady seats up front, get yourself parked along the parade route early! Another character warning ~ just like the other Disney parades, some of the characters come right up to the parade-watchers. My kid practically knocked over the people behind us trying to jump behind me when Darth Vader (and even Chewbacca!) got a little too close for his comfort. We ended up watching the parade with me sitting on the curb and him standing behind me so that I could act as his buffer, LOL.

Other than that, there's just lots of photo Ops and nifty things around to look at. Make sure you get a t-shirt. :thumbsup2: And then there's the Hyperspace Hoopla in the evening. There's lots of videos on youtube of the past shows.

Awesome. Seriously - that sounds like so much fun! Is there a parade on Friday/Sat. and Sunday? What else - what else? tell me more tell me more :)

SWW is a blast!! My 2 boys are huge star wars fans and we just loved it. We went for the first time last June for weekends #3 and #4. Each weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) they have 2-3 real celebrities from the movies that you can vist with. Every day they have tons of SW characters around that you can meet. There is lots of merchandise around and plenty of places to take a picture with a cool SW background. The parade is fabulous and not to miss, starting at lunchtime. In the afternoon, they usually have 2 shows where they interview the celebrities and talk about star wars stuff. Then the hoopla is at 7pm. Lots of people dress up in star wars costumes and kids bring their lightsabers. It really was wonderful. I have tons of pictures of all the characters and the parade in my June trip report link.

The characters are in several locations and they'll usually rotate with 1-2 characters. You'll need to check with a CM to find out when the rotations are if you are trying to see a specific character. Here's what we saw:

Jedi Mickey, Minnie Leia, Stormtrooper Donald with Darth Goofy (they rotated every 20 minutes)
Ahsoka rotated with Captain Rex
Queen Amidala
Darth Vader
Darth Maul
Chewbacca and Ewoks
Luke and Leia with R2D2
Jango Fett and Boba Fett
Anakin Skywalker rotated with Mace Windu/Kit Fitsu/Shaak Ti

Wandering around the parks were several storm troopers, sand people, tuscan raiders, Zam Wessell, Cantina Band, and few others. They did not have a designated spot to meet them.

Have a great trip!!

It will be very crowded but it's lots of fun. Get there for rope drop, actually ahead of it to see the troopers on the roof of the entrance. Very neat. The parade is not to be missed and there are great ops for pics with the characters. Special pins,blankets...the line for the limited edition was over 1 1/2 hours last year but there is a lin to let you go in for the reg merch.-just ask a cm to make sure you are in the correct one.
