Tell Me About Spirit of Aloha

We will be trying this one for the first time and have heard mostly good reviews on it , but some not so good as well. The 515 show fits our schedule better, but didn't know if the early show is any different than the later one. Just wondering on your opinion of the Luau and whether or not this is a 'must-do'.

Also, about how long is the show?

We attended the later show in July. The lighting was dim and my husband complained he couldn't see what he was eating. We enjoyed the meal despite that, and the show as well. We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary and got front row seats (Category 2) next to some honeymooners. We're not planning a trip to Hawaii for a more authentic luau experience, so I'd call this a must do.

DH and I just went to the show in July.
We were in Category 2, I would never book seats in Category 3 - they were so-o far back and as the pp mentioned it's pretty dark and the back is very dark and on some bad angles.
At the time, I totally compared it to "High School Musical does Hawaii". It's a very simple story line and has that teenie bopper feel to it.
That being said - the food was decent and the fire dancers are amazing. Also if you are celebrating anything there are parts of the show where members of the audience can come up and dance on the floor in front of the stage.
It was a solid 2 hours, and we wouldn't go again. But we don't regreat going -you never know until you see the show. And as you mentioned, there are always mixed reviews based on everyone's individual tastes.

We are doing this in May....my DH and both my girls have never seen the show, and the last time I went to it it was called the Polynesian Luau (back when I was a kid). Since we are on the DDP we have cat. 2 seats for the 8pm show, plus we are going on one of my DD's actual birthday, I think she will be excited to go up and dance with the performers. I am really excited about taking my girls there because I know they will really like the show. I know that there is a lot of bad reviews about the show, but to each his own and I would much rather not worry what others think and just make my own opinion about it. Have a great time

we did this in sept of 09 for our honeymoon. we have never seen this show so thought it would be something new and good to see. the show was not that good and we said we would not go back anytime soon. the food was good and the service was good but not enough to make me want to say it is a must do. i would not want to sit too far back for this as well. we were in catagory 1 seating so had a good view of everything but i could see how catagory 3 people would have a problem with that. over all we said we can and saw and would not rush back. cross it off our list and move on. if we had to go to a show and this was the only available then we would suck it up but otherwise we would pass

We did the Spirit of Aloha 1 1/2 years ago when we were on the dining plan and liked it very much. The food was better than we expected, and the show even though is very corny was a lot of fun.

We were in category 3 seats and probably had the worst seats in the house, but it was still fun.

I'm not sure we would do it again, but it was great to do once. We also enjoyed walking around the resort. It is beautiful.

The whole thing lasts about 2 hours.

We did it last Friday, the late show... Both kids & wife enjoyed it throughly. The fire performer was awesome!

The food was great, simple menu but very well done. Chicken, ribs, veggies & rice. Plus the bread is great.

Beer & wine are also included & believe me I got my monies worth!

I am glad we did it & may do it again in a few trips. We actually stayed at the same resort & it is my favorite on property.

We did it in 2005 and LOVED it! The food and the atmospere were awesome! We took our boys who were 9 and 11 at the time. They had a ball. The show invoved the children and had them come up on stage to learn some songs and hula dances. They still talk about that dinner and its been 6 years. The food was terrific. If you didnt leave full it was your choice. The amount of food was crazy. We also loved the volcano deserts! All in all our enitre family had a very fun dinner we will always remember!!

good show, firedude awesome,good food. Give it a try. Only negative the waiter/waitresses not so hot, but neither are the ones at HDDR.
