Hi,
Long time forum member but haven't been on for years. Last visit was in spring 2018, long before Covid and all of the changes. I'm getting a handle on that, but my big question is about the post-Christmas/New Year's time frame and creating a special trip for my 3 teenagers and myself.. It's been a rough year for us and the holidays have not been great for a few years now, so we're planning a (hopefully) super fun post-Christmas trip (I have to work on actual Christmas/Christmas Eve). We know it will be crowded and our expectations will be different than our past trips. Priorities are seeing decorations and anything that's unique to the holiday season at WDW (we've been in late Jan, spring and summer previously), dining somewhere fun about once per day, and experiencing the attractions that are new since 2018. I have some savings set aside and want to make this trip fun so will spend a little extra on certain things.
I'm pretty sure we'll end up staying at Caribbean Beach due to moderate price and skyliner access. Our likely trip dates are 12/28 to 1/3 or 12/29 to 1/4 (some possibility of 7 nights, 12/28 to 1/4 but I think I might save the money for extras like Genie+ etc) and we will be getting 6 or 7 day park hoppers. Any thoughts on whether there is much of a difference between those 6 night trips? Most importantly, the difference between (1) crowds and (2) holiday decorations and special events. We know there will be crowds either way, and we know that the marathon weekend is right after New Year's, so not sure it matters, but curious to know from the more experienced WDW holiday goers. Anything you would recommend during this trip? Are there still special holiday events going on during those dates? Any park recommendations for NYE and NYD?
Also - think it's worth it to just go for the 7 night trip? If we did that, we'd probably leave fairly early on departure day (which would be 1/4 - likely no park visit). If we do 6 nights, we would try to stay for much of the day on departure day and catch a late flight (like 8/9 pm).
Any and all advice is appreciated!!
thank you so much!
Ellen
