I want to try some places we haven't eaten at before. I was looking at the menus and Ohana looks like there is something for all of us on the menu and I want to go to the Poly ;) Tell me about the atmosphere and food, it will be myself, DH, DS13 and DD11. Thanks.

Ohana is a great choice, one of my favorites. Everything you see on the menu is brought to your table, and they will keep bringing the meats around until you tell them no more. Very filling, and extremely tasty. I highly recommend it, this was one of our "must do's" for our upcoming trip! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

On your way to your table, the hostess will pickup your welcome bread and lead you to your seat. When your waitress or waiter comes by the first time you order drinks (if you didn't already pickup your pineapple drink at the bar ;)) Then comes the salad, the wings and dumplings. Next you get noodles and the skewer people come around with the turkey, pork and steak yum yum!! The bread pudding is last and it was one huge yummy bowl that my table shared. The atmosphere is nice and laid back. We weren't where the singing and ukelele were taking place, but we did hear it from our seats. We went later in the night, but kids still participated in some sort of conga line thing around the restaurant? I wasn't really sure what was going on there, lol.
All around an excellent and yum-tastic experience:thumbsup2

We just had dinner there on Wednesday....this was probably our favorite. We were with our 4.5 yr old daughter and the atmosphere was great - and loud! There is soooo much food, and they will keeping bringing more as you ask.

You start out with this pineapple/coconut bread (I don't like coconut) but this was very good! They the bring you a huge salad with a light dressing. Then they bring fried dumplings (potstickers) and glazed chicken wings. Both of these were very tasty. Unfortunately, these sort of fell to side, when noodles and a side of garlic broccoli/snap peas were delivered. Shortly after that, the skewers of meet arrive. Turkey, steak. pork and shrimp. My favo was the turkey, however my DH liked the shrimp. I am not a big fan of peel and eat shrimp, however with the dipping sauces, they were OK for me.

If you have saved room for dessert - which is a must....the bread pudding is heavenly! Served with ice cream!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh...just thinking about it is making me gain 5 pounds :).

Try the Lapu Lapu (spelling)....a tropical drink in a pineapple. Sort of tastes like a Mai Tai.

For those with small kids....they did offer Chicken Nuggets w/ fries or Mac & Cheese
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We were just there on Thursday, and it was our favorite meal! The food was by far the best. I think the previous posters described it well...great food!

'Ohana is my favorite place to eat at WDW. While it isn't for everyone, all the people I have taken over the years have loved it. Mom is not a huge fan of it though not because of the food. at 78 she does not eat much at meals and, being the thrifty person she is, the cost is not worth it to her. Otherwise everything has been good to awesome there. Even the weird inclusion, for a while, of scalloped potatoes were okay :rotfl: Give it a try. The atmosphere is really good and it is fun to watch the kids play the games.

Ohanas is a must. I spent my last night of singledom here and would recommend it to anyone. The food is really good (i could live on the dumplings), the atmosphere is really laid back and the lapu lapus are to die for. The servers may try to rush you at first but when they saw that we were in no hurry let us go at our own pace.

This was our best family dinner. 14 of us and great food and wonderful memories.

Oh My..that is the biggest skewer I have ever seen :scared1: Thanks so much for the great info, I am definately putting this one one our list!!!

This has been very helpful to me as we have ressies for Ohana during our Thanksgiving trip and there will be 8 of us :scared1: and now I know it will be just fine....

I'll just start off with the Lapu-Lapu!:drinking1. I have heard of them but could not remember where everyone got them from. :thumbsup2 I'm hoping they taste like the drinks they serve at Castaway Cay. :lovestruc

Absolutely Wonderful:thumbsup2 We've been dining here since DS and DD were 10 and 8 (now 21 and 19) and they LOVE it. LOADS of tasty food...pretty quiet and tropic environment with a 180 degree view of the lagoon...my DS loves to score leis from the servers:laughing: Pace yourself as there are so many yummy items each course:love:

Ohana is flipping awesome, lol!!!! The dessert is the best!!!!! OOh and the wings and potstickers... YUM!!!

DH and I have been dining at 'Ohana for over 10 years and we've never had a bad meal there! The food is excellent! The peanut sauce is wonderful and tastes delicious on everything!!...and I do mean everything!!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we have over the years!!

When you enter the hotel, ground floor, ask a CM for a lei. Just makes your time there more festive. My FIL and I LOVE LOVE Ohana, MIL - very picky. So, I pre-order her a cheeseburger and she is happy. I also pre-order my FIL a sugar-free dessert (he is diabetic). Call (407) 824-5967 within 2 weeks of your reservation for those with special diets.
Ask for a table with a castle view, adds to the magic. We are usually there at sundown and have never seen Wishes from the restaurant. I am not a bread pudding fan (seriously, who wants to eat bread after pigging out on dumplings and wings, plus all the other stuff). The bananas foster bread pudding is AWESOME, save room for it! I always get the blue martini with the glow cube, my favorite! 71 Days I will be trying my first Lapu-Lapu! :yay:
After a day at Animal Kingdom we love coming here, just take a bus going to Poly. To get back to your hotel you can hop the monorail to the ticket and transportation center then take you hotel bus from there.

I hope you have a wonderful time!

r the pineapple drinks included on the DDP? So would the food be good for kids who are basic eaters. they eat regular road house type food, and not very adventurous with new meals, but am having a hard time booking ADR's.
Any comments from kids on the meals, that are not so adventureous?;)

No, alcohol is not part of the dining plan. That would be nice though. (You can add the wine package to DDP but Lapu-Lapus would still not be included.) They have chicken nuggets and fries and also mac and cheese for kids. They have burgers for kids too, just tell you server.

Definitly a favorite here. We go there each time we visit wdw. The atmosphere is laid back, and cozy....And they serve comfort food.
I would recommend it for sure.

sorry, i did not realize this "Pineapple" drink i was reading about was alcholic. I was looking for non alcholic drinks that are on theDDP besides soft drinks.

I've heard the chefs at Ohana (especially Chef TJ) are great with vegetarians/vegans. Wondering how a dinner at Ohana is with other food allergies? We have one nut allergy, one shrimp allergy and 2 who are very lactose intolerant. Would there be enough for them to eat from the regular food and if not - would they do something special for them to suit their needs. I'd love to try it, but want to be sure it will work for everyone.
Thanks
