We were looking for something to do in Grand Cayman and read about this place. Would like to see your photos and hear your opinion about this place. Thought our son could swim and we can watch him by the pool, having some margaritas :)

I have never been to Margaritaville in Grand Cayman. I HAVE been to others. They were, on the whole, meh. I mean, OK. At best.
as you know, this is opinion based.
Further, I shant be getting off the ship in Grand Cayman ever again (unless it is to check on my off-shore account in some fantasy future)...once was enough, thank you.
Your mileage may vary depending on driving habits. As will the opinions which follow....

I'm going to second the above statement as far as Margaritaville is concerned-

Here's why- There are plenty of locations in the US, and their food is nothing spectacular. If you were spending a week in Key West then yes, hit it up for a QUICK stop, but even in KW there is so much better to choose from..in Grand Cayman there has to be a lot of other places!

However, this is opinion based as well...so take it as you wish.

why wont you get off in grand cayman? we have never been there

Be prepared for a very loud atmosphere, inattentive waitresses and overpriced average food and drinks. We were not impressed.

We have never been to Grand Cayman either and it's one of the port that we will visit. I was thinking taking the kids to turtle farm, it's highly recommended. I did read that Margaritaville in Grand Cayman has an outdoor pool.

We stopped by there and it was the coolest margaritaville we have EVER seen. It's a really close walk and you take the stairs up to the main dining. Here the bar wraps around the middle where the pool is located. It was Rreeeaalllly empty when we went and maybe 5 people at the bar. It was in the middle of the day though. Sorry I only have a pic of the pool. We thought we'd take our kids there next time.... Order some wings and let them swim!

Ok, I admit that is more interesting than the Margaritaville in KW or Cincinnati.lol

I had originally planned on the turtle farm, but changed my mind and going with an outside company to do stingray city, starfish beach, and a reef snorkel. I wish we could do the turtle farm as well, but doesn't look like enough time

We have 4 year old and 2 year old so turtle farm probably be enough for them. :flower1:

Sorry don't have any pictures from GC but my wife and I have been to the Margarittavilles in Orl, KW, GC and Coz. We love going to the different ones because each has a different atmosphere. We don't go for the food or drinks, (except the one in Orl because we are close enough to go on a regular basis) more for the experience. Normally well go and have a appetizer and drinks, and let the kids play in the pools or the ocean like the 1 in Coz has. Also, if you look around, a lot of the Margarittavils has personal things from Jimmys collection, so there is history there as well.

We went there last year. I had a broken foot and it was close to the port. There is an elevator around the side of the building. It turned out to be an enjoyable day. Good music, food was good, the pool looked fun for the kids that were there.

Had the opposite experience. :)

We were late getting up and off our ship, and I totally forgot all we wanted to do in GC. What we did end up doing was sign up for a "duck" tour, and while waiting for our time to come up, we went to the little "mall" that Margaritaville is in. Did a little shopping, had some lunch. We totally forgot about the pool/slide, and weren't prepared. We were so bummed that we didn't have swimsuits and had already paid for the duck tour, because staying there would have been a ton of fun.

In the future we'll get ready early, go to Tiki Beach (as we had planned on doing), hang out for a few hours, head back, hit Margaritaville for the pool and a drink, and then call it a day.

We've been 2x for lunch to the one in Grand Cayman--1'st time was pretty nice--had some food and drinks at the bar and relaxed.

The second time the place was LOUD with dancing , etc--very UNrelaxing.

It seemed to us that they were trying to duplicate the atmosphere at Senor' Frogs.

As noted the food is so-so---

I am not a beach person...I have beaches here on LI....and the rest of Grand Cayman is, in my nsho, a poop-hole. I didn't like the dolphin swim joint either....it seemed like, i don't know, slapped together....

I took my 19 year old son and his 19 year old girlfriend in December.

It was fun, food was OK, and I recall it being kinda pricey ($235 for lunch, all in - but, that included two drinks in some silly cups that looked like blenders).

For us we go just for some relaxing time off the boat and the kids have a ball in the pool and on the slide. Don't go expecting 5 star food and you'll have a good time. Its VERY easy to get to as well its basically right across the street from the dock for the tenders.
