We are heading to Disneyland in January (Jan. 8 - 11) to be exact and would love some info. on that time of year. We have been in mid-May and a few times in the fall, but this is our first January trip. :cool1:

Will the crowds have subsided by then? It's a week into the New Year, so we were hoping most vacations would have ended by then.

Also, what are the park hours like? Will there be multiple attractions in rehab or maybe just 1 or 2?

What's the weather like? It is much colder than the fall (namely November)?

Our last trip was in May and it was hot and CROWDED!!! We're hoping to avoid both this trip and have a blast! So, any advice? :confused3

We went Jan 7-9 this year. The 7th was the last official day of peak Christmas time so we were able to see the last of all the Christmas entertainment (DEP, Believe fireworks, Christmas Fantasy Parade, HMH, etc.). Our second and third days there, Christmas decorations and the tree came down. The only two rides down for refurb for us were HM (for removal of overlay on our second day), Dumbo and the Zephyr in DCA.

I would assume that the end of Christmas peak will be Jan 6 and by the time you get there Christmas will be completely taken down, and crowds will be very light.

Weather is unpredictable. We experienced a heat wave when we were there. It was 85-90 degrees each day. However, a week before and after was freezing cold.

Overall, I think it's a great time to go if you are wanting to avoid crowds, but the park hours will be limited during the week (10-8 at DL).

I agree with DangerMouse. The crowds will be low and the weather is anyones guess. Typically it is cool (60's during the day) and the nights are downright cold. And it may rain. I am sure you will have a fabulous time.:)

We will be going the week after you! I hope it is nice! Like others, I want to avoid the crouds!

This is a great time to go. Crowds will be very light. There is the potential for Haunted Mansion and Small World to be down - to take off the overlays.

Weather is up for grabs. Nights will definitely be chilly, but days could be 60s 80s or in between.

Parades, Fantasmic, etc. will have limited showings and some may not go at all on non-weekend days.

We are off school in January (year-round thing) and this is one of our favorite times to go - no long lines, no hot sun.

We were hoping for fewer crowds above all else and this sounds great!

We visited Disneyland in May and ended up waiting 30-45 minutes for nearly every attraction! We saw the parades and shows then, so that's less of a priority. And we visit Disney World all the time, so Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World are less of a concern also.

Will the WDW Railroad be running again? That was closed when we went due to the construction on the Finding Nemo attraction. Now that Nemo is open, is the railroad too?

Thanks!:goodvibes

Yes, the DL Railroad should be running on your visit. No rumors of it being refurbed again. They only had it down for a while to redo the Tomororwland Station b/c of Nemo.
