Can you tell me about this resort? An auction on skyauction just closed for about $100 + the 195 fee and another one is up and I am somewhat interested. We are looking to go mid/late August. It would be me, DH, DD12 and DD9. We are used to hotel rooms, so a 1 bedroom would be fine for us.

how did that get by me ---- I have not been watching --- I love this place!

It is lovely!!!

what do you want to know?

Well, I am not sure what I want to know. We have always stayed on property in moderate or value resorts. This year we would like to take it easy and enjoy the resort a little. So I thought an off property resort would be nice. I have been reading much about Vistana and Orange Lake, but these are not coming up for our dates in August. But Hilton GVC has our dates.

So really we have nothing to compare it to. We would like a place with a fun pool so the kids can swim one day maybe two. We will have 4 day PHP and will be staying 7 days, so we have a couple free days. We would like something that would have something fun to occupy those days.

As far as the room, we are used to regular hotel rooms, so anything bigger would be great. The kitchen is nice, but I don't plan to cook much in the kitchen. Maybe breakfast (waffles, cereal, etc.) Probably not dinner. Maybe sandwiches for snacks. A fridge would be nice to keep water bottles cold - and coke cans too.

DH liked the idea of the whirlpool tub in the master bedroom at Cypress Pointe. Does the Hilton have one?

I am not quite sure about location. I know about where Sea World is.

ANY info would be great.

We have stayed in a studio and a 2-bedroom - this is a wonderful resort - yes they have 3 swimming pools (2 together) - all the stuff that a deluxe resort at WDW has - so there is lots to do - the movies looked fun - but I was interested in reading my book an mother though the TV was the best thing ever. (DVC resorts do not have the big TV - Hilton does).

Yes - their whirlpool tub is excellent - I LOVED IT!!!! much better than the ones at DVC or Marriott or any place that I have stayed at....

the thing I did not like is the ultilities they only give you 4 - so you wash dishes alot - but they give you plenty (I think 10) to be able to wash dishes almost twice a day. You have everything you need to cook with (no waffles iron - but pancakes would be fine) - this is a lovely resort.

We stayed there in 2002. It is a great place. You could actually walk to sea world if you wanted to. I like the location. The resort has a bermuda feel. The croquet court and movie theater was lots of fun. The had make you own sundays at 2:00pm every day for $2 and even the food was above average. The pools were nice and the grounds very beautiful. Nice kids program. As you can see, I've stayed at a number of these resorts and I thought the HGVC was the nicest.

the whirlpool tub - the water instead of just coming out of a fascat(SP?) - coming down a waterfall - it is so cute - your husband might not think so - but your kids will love it too....

Another question...

It seems if you win the skyauction bid that you can upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite for an extra $100. Do you think this is worth it? There will be 4 of us - DH, me, DD12 and DD9?? We have never stayed in anything besides a regular hotel room, so I think the 1 bedroom will seem BIG to us.

the studio part - has another bed and a sleeper sofa -

you get more alone time with your husband - the kids hopefully would find their own entertainment in their own room.

there is that other bathroom - which can be very attractive....

I think that each one of the TV comes with a game player.

HGVC is one the better timeshares in Orlando and unlike the others they maintence fees are inline with their others timeshares. the only complaint againt the company is that HGVC promised to put them in different locations like the Marriott and they are quite living up to that promise - or so the tuggers who own here had say....

this is so out of my price range ----- I can only trade to it occasionally and sometimes get a skyauction....

My parents use to have a timeshare with HGVC,but the one in Las Vegas. But, several times they traded for Disney so we could go.Its a great place, much better then the Days Inn we usually could only afford. The pools are great, there is one heated and one cold for those brave pools, as well as a kiddie pool, and several hot tubs. Its a wonderful resort. Unfortunately after 10 yrs my parents sold their timeshare, so no more HGVC for us.
It is very close to Sea world. We did walk there one visit.

DH and I stayed there as well in 2002 and it was wonderful. It very nearly pushed us over the line and buy into a timeshare.

However fast forward another year and we bought DVC. We found ourselves spending 2 days of that long weekend at Disney and thought, why not stay where we want to be.

we stayed at the HGVC in October 200 for $249 through www.afvc.com we LOVED it! we stayed in a 2-BR, which was more than enough room for our family of 5. The whirlpool was terrific, pools were nice (no slide, though), and the location was good. It didn't take us long to get to the Disney property at all. You can either take I-4 or International drive.

We bought our own stuff for the dishwasher and laundry at Publix, the cheap stuff, LOL....I hate washing dishes, especially on vacation :)
