My husband and I are going to have our first date night while at Disney World. :) Our two children are going to go to one of the kid's clubs at the resorts. I have always wanted to try Fulton's, but since we always doing the dining plan, I have never tried it. We are still doing the dining plan, but we are not wanting to use credits because we will not have our kids with us and so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try it. So tell me about it. I love seafood, mostly crab, lobster, shrimp, not as crazy about fish. The menu looks great to me, but tell me how it tastes! :cool1: We are also DVC members, so I believe we get a discount??? Can anyone confirm that?

Tasty but -- Overpriced

Had an Appetizer = New Bedford Diver Scallops - Pan-seared, with a melange of sauteed mushrooms and spinach, served with balsamic red pepper sauce $13.95 <-- notice the price today, it was more years ago, guess what, 2 just (2) Scallops

I consider every Disney Restaurant a must try, I only offer my opinion to bring cash, lots of cash

Thanks for the reply! I noticed the prices when I looked at the menu, but I figured I still wanted to try it at least once. So what should I order? What did everyone enjoy or not enjoy?

The last time I went was during my honeymoon in 1998. We waited for over an hour for the table (no priority seatings back then - I don't know if this has changed). I recall that I thought that the chowder tasted like it came out of a Campbell's can, and the main course was overcooked and bland. My husband and I walked out of there vowing to never return again.

DW and I ate there last month. DW loves crab legs and got the snow crab legs. She enjoyed them very much. I got the fillet, and it was okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't awesome either.
We had great service, and were given a 20% DVC discount, which I didn't think was right but we took it and tipped really good. I thought the dinner discount was 10%, but I could be wrong.
This was our third time eating dinner at Fulton's, and we enjoyed all 3 times.

We have not been for a few years, but it was always one of our favorites and we're planning to go back on our next trip (it just didn't fit our long list of must-dos on our last trip). The quality was very good, but the prices, as PP said, were shockingly high!

I recall enjoying the lobster & crab bisque and the crab cake entree was excellent (although the portion seemed small for the price). I also recall getting the chilled seafood tower once with a large group during a work trip and being pretty disappointed in the assortment, but I suspect that's more of a hit-or-miss type thing based on what is fresh at the time.

It's a fun spot, and since I see you're also from Iowa, it's a nice chance to get some excellent & fresh seafood, as long as you're prepared to pay a premium.

Enjoy your date night!

We have eaten there many times, and have always enjoyed our meals immensely!!! We have another reservation for August - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I usually get the king crab legs, lobster, or stone crabs (when they have them). I agree that it is expensive, but the food is amazing - if you like seafood. Service has always been great. Enjoy!!!

My dad was in DTD for a convention last year and he and some of his friends went there twice. They absolutely loved it!

The first time we ate at Fulton's was 1987 and back then it was fine dining with linen and crystal and silver. We were on the premium plan that at that time included every thing but alcohol. Our bill was over $500 for 4 adults and 2 small kids! (DH likes to joke that Fulton's was taken off the free dining list because of our piggy ways) :rotfl2:

The service was top notch and they went out of their way to make our meal magical! DD 4 at the time was a bit cranky, it was 8 pm, and our waiter brought her out a goblet with sliced strawberry's and cream then followed it up with ice cream, we were never charged for it! He also made her a bed in the corner out of clean linen tablecloths when it was apparent she was not going to make it:cool1:

The next time we went was in 2001, it just wasn't the same and reminded me more of just an oyster shack in Florida. The food was still very good but nothing like the first time. DH did enjoy his whole lobster and the service was good.

We didn't make it back again until 2007 and I just felt it was overpriced for the food and service:sad2:

We have been a number of times over the years (it is the first restaurant my "then fiance" (now DH) and I ate at on our first trip to Disney together. We went back in 2008 for our 25th wedding anniversary special dinner and again in 2009 (we don't go every year because it is pricey). Here is my review from the 25th anniversary trip. We had outstanding service (as we have every visit) and the food was out of this world.

I went there for dinner in August 2008 and thought it was very good. I ordered the Fulton's Fried Platter and if I ever go back there that's what I would order again.

Thanks for all the replies. I noticed on the menu that there are various types of crab legs. What is the difference?

That is hard to explain--at least for me. I can tell you that the server I had explained the difference to me years ago; I used to always eat the snow crab legs and then went with the claws...heavenly. :worship:

I don't think Fulton's opened until 1996. I know when we visited in 1993 the "boat" was still The Empress Lilly. It was home to character meals; we had breakfast there one morning.

We have eaten there twice and loved it both times. The kids even enjoyed their meals. Is it spectacular seafood? No. I have had better at other locations. It is the best seafood you will find in WDW. I have not seen a better reviewed place in Orlando though I could be missing out on something.

We ate crab legs, had the crab cake app., I have had the seafood trio, I have also had the Tuna steak. We have enjoyed all of it but I would say that the Tuna was not as good as I have had at many other places. Snow crab legs are smaller than Kings. We have had both there. Crab seems to be the thing that they do well overall. We were going to go back next week but have decided to back out of that plan and opt out for Joes Crab Shack (my kids love tht place). The prices are better and the atmosphere is good. will I return to Fultons...absolutely. Just not this trip. Overall we really have enjoyed our meals there.

this is one of the places at the top of DH list for our next trip, yes it was expensive but the food was excellent and the service was the best we had on our whole trip. I don't eat seafood so had the chicken and it was lovely DH is a seafood fan and loved everything he had.

Fultons is one of our must dos every trip.
Yes they take ADRs now and we have never waited for a table, its always been ready. DH is a seafood lover and has enjoyed every meal he has had there over the years. I, do not eat seafood and have enjoyed filet mignon, steak, and chicken there. Good service as well.
Prices are overpriced just like all of WDW-to be expected.
Our main reason for loving it is because for some reason it feels like real food when we go there, not theme park dining. Just mho.

We're trying Fulton's for the first time on our July/August trip.

I've heard lots of glowing reports and I LOVE seafood so we can't wait.

Fulton's is great for seafood although a little on the pricey side. The atmosphere can be very romantic and I am sure you will enjoy the experience. Have a great time without the kids because I am sure they will be enjoying their time away from their parents.:cool1::banana:
