I think my sister is leaning toward wanting a cheaper room which would either be oceanview or interior on deck 1 or 2. I’m a little concerned about being that far down. Should I be? What are the cons?

I've never stayed on deck one, so have no advice there. I really enjoyed deck two, as the oceanview rooms have beautiful big windows and gorgeous views. The nice thing about being on the lower deck is your much less likely to feel the movement of the ship. It also makes it very easy on port days as getting on and off the ship is very easy as you are either on the gangway deck or just one flight up. You're also close to the dining areas, the theater, and the adult clubs.

LOVED Deck 2 on the Wonder!! So convenient to everything in my opinion. We stayed on Deck 6 of the Magic, and I think I prefer Deck 2 on the classic ships.

Another fan of oceanview on deck 2! We almost always book deck 2 and love it.

I've stayed on deck 2 (oceanview, forward) twice and really liked it. Easy to get lifts if going high up, just a short walk up the stairs to deck 4/5. I found swell less noticeable lower down (yes there are always debates about this!). And generally I think less passing traffic than higher up.

We are a family of 5 and we alternate between 4B on Deck 8 forward, and 10C on Deck 1 midship, depending on itinerary. We have booked the same set of connecting 10Cs on Deck 1 three times now (specifically 1051 and 1053, under the midship stairs). We really like it, because the inside rooms are all the same, so it's not different in that regard. It's super quiet, because no one has has a reason to go down the hallway ever unless they are staying there. It can make getting off the ship and returning to your room from port very easy, because you don't have to wait for an elevator. Our midship rooms are very convenient to the lobby: up 2 flights of stairs and you are there. For higher decks, you can always find an uncrowded elevator on Deck 1.

You specifically asked about cons: I don't see any. It's just as convenient and quiet as our other rooms. If you are doing an ocean view, they have the smaller windows, instead of the bigger ones, but for insides, I don't think there's a down side.

We almost always stay on deck 2. We take one ocean view and one interior so I have experienced both. A have also stayed on deck 1 and higher up when we had one verandah stateroom.

We really like deck 2. It’s quiet. Convenient for getting an elevator - if you stay on the higher decks elevators can be a challenge as they are always full! Deck 1 is fine but if you have an ocean view on the magic or wonder you have two small portholes instead of one big one like on deck 2.

The lower decks are also way more stable in rough seas. We were grateful to be midship on deck 1 when we encountered the outer bands of a hurricane!

I do prefer midship but on our next cruise we are deck 2 forward so hoping that we don’t notice a big difference.

We were just on deck 2 midship on the Magic and loved it. It was so easy to get to most things taking the stairs. And in those cases where we did need to go to the pool deck, etc it was always easy to get an empty elevator.

We stayed on deck 2 on the Magic and Wonder. Our daughter was in Edge at the time. Because she was so young (11 years old) we liked that our cabin was not far from Edge when she needed a bathroom or a break. I think they relocated Edge now to deck 9. Deck 2 was quiet and we enjoyed it very much.

Thanks @laceltris3 for your review of rooms 1053/1051. We have those on our upcoming cruise in a couple of weeks and I have not heard a lot about those rooms. I think there are not a lot of reviews of deck 1 simply because there are so few rooms down there. I plan on posting reviews after my trip. I have stayed on the bottom deck of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship before and had no problems whatsoever.

We booked our first cruise in February relatively last minute and choose a guaranteed ocean view and ended up in 1038 & 1040. We loved it. So much so that we purposely booked the same deck for our next visit. We loved how easy it was to find our room and navigate and it was very quiet in the halls.

We've only ever stayed around midship on Deck 2. We really like it - it's very convenient for taking the stairs to the various restaurants, Walt Disney Theatre and the adults area. Elevators were always readily available to the pool (although we try to take the stairs as much as possible to help compensate for all the food we're eating). We do get Oceanview rooms, but always consider just going with an interior given we spend so little time in the room!

I love love love Deck 2 on Dream and Magic. As others have mentioned, super convenient for port days, up or down one flight. I love that on the Dream I could stumble out of my room and into Enchanted Garden where a smiling server would bring me coffee so I could open up my eyes :cutie: Ditto on the elevator. We only used one to go up top as everything else was only a flight or two away. When we did need an elevator, it is almost always empty. My next cruise I had deck 2 booked but switched to a GTY to save a sizeable chunk of money. I am on edge waiting for my room assignment and am seriously considering if it was worth the savings to leave my beloved deck 2. :rolleyes2

Add me too. We do a b2b every feb and most of the time it’s the Wonder. We are perfectly happy on deck 2. Easy to get to the entertainment and dining. Saves $$ too. When I’m on the fantasy or dream I prefer the 5E category.
