We had the same experience with the food - a mix of very good and mediocre. Nothing was so outstanding that it sticks in my mind now 8 months later, but nothing was was so bad that we were appalled.
We had a different experience with our waiter. Worst service of our last trip. Our waiter pretty much ignored us for the bulk of the meal, and topped it off by vanishing for 20 minutes+ when we were trying to get our dessert to go and our check.
(If you want the longer version of our service problem... There were only the three of us, and our waiter had a very large table next to us that ordered copious amounts of wine. We were on the DxDDP and ordered a lot of expensive food, but we weren't drinking alcohol and we had an eventually cranky 3 year old with us. The waiter paid a lot of attention to the other table and no attention to us, and it was the only restaurant where we were made to feel like we'd made a terrible choice bringing our son. The meal ended up so drawn out by the particularly slow service that my husband finally took our tired DS back to the room and left me there to try desperately to get our waiter's attention so I could pay and leave. I think that by taking a child and by not ordering wine, we made ourselves invisible to our waiter.)
I won't say we will never ever return, but it is unlikely. I hear enough good things about the restaurant that I keep thinking that we just had a unusually bad experience with the waiter. On the other hand, the food was not so exceptional that it really impressed either of us. (Our favorites, for comparison sake, are Cali Grill, Jiko, and V & A.)
