Why is it so popular? What makes this a must-do restaurant for so many people? Is it the food, the characters, the atmosphere? I've never been there and I'm wondering if I should go on my next trip.
We went for dinner our arrival night on our last trip with the kiddoes; neither one of us enjoyed it that much. I think the appeal is that the main characters are all there- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Chip & Dale. The food is ok- good variety.
I didn't really get it and it's not our "must do again" list.
The food is ok...nothing special. This a great place to take kids to see the characters. We went on our last visit with our DD 2. She loved it. The characters came one by one by the table and spent a few mins with her and signed her autograph book and took pics with her. That's why I think it's worth going..but def not for the food.
We went there for breakfast this past Feb; will definitely not do again; character interaction was okay; waitress definitely was not a happy CM and did not want to be there; food was just okay; wasn't worth the money; enjoyed Donald's breakfast at AK much, much, much more
I think I am in the minority here but we have no kids and my husband and I love this resturant, we have been twice(only been to WDW twice) and we always go to breakfast. I love the atmosphere, it is just fun and we also like the food.
We have gone twice and enjoyed it both times. We have two toddlers and they love the characters. We thought the food was fine, we don't expect gourmet at this kind of meal so we're never disappointed. There is one pasta dish I really like. There is lots for the kids. We have always had great interaction with characters, and it's the only way for our kids to see "Donald the Duck."
Chef Mickey's is just fun! The food was ok-actually, the pesto salmon was quite good!
I would go back again because we love the "classic" characters. HOWEVER, I would NOT go to there again on our first night. After travelling all day, next time we will pick a more relaxing and quieter place for that first night dinner!
WE LOVE CM!! We have made it our tradition to go there on our first night each trip. We love just about everything about it. It was my DS 1st character meal (when he was just a little over 2 yrs old) and it was so magical. He was never scared of the characters and we've always had AMAZING service there. The food is really good. I still think the chicken fingers are the best I've ever had. You get tons of time with the Characters and the atmosphere is wonderful!
My family enjoyed CM. We ate there at dinner. The food was O.K., the atmosphere was FUN, and great time with Mickey and friends! My 2 boys who are now 6 & 9, have asked to go back to CM when we return to WDW in December. If your family chooses CM, I hope you all have a great time :thewave:
I know that most people do not think this, but I really like the food for breakfast. I mean, it is not gormet, but I think that it is tasty and there is a really good variety. I think that because it is a buffet, you can get your money's worth.
I think that the time that you go also makes a different. We always go around 10:30 or 10:45 and make it a bruch. There is still plenty of food and you get a ton of character interaction because they stop seating people at 11.
If you have a bad experience one time, it doesn't mean that you will have a bad experience the next and vice versa (this goes for most restaurants)
CM rocks. We have been twice for breakfast and have loved every minute there. We are going for the first time for dinner and another day for breakfast. The food is good and the characters are fun. It seems that the past 2 times we went (1st time to Disney ever in April of 04 and again in Dec. of 04) we got the same table. Hopefully we will again.
We LOVE Chef Mickeys! The breakfast was awesome - characters great - and it was sooooo fun and festive! Mmmmmm... mickey waffles.... Never tried dinner, though.
WE LOVE CHEF MICKEYS!!! It is a must-do for us every trip and actually we are doing it twice this trip. I really can't understand when people say the food isn't that great, its not gourmet. Yea, you're right, its a buffet at WDW. You're not going to get melt in your mouth food at a buffet, WDW or anywhere. The characters and the atmosphere is unbeatable, and we think the food isn't too bad either.
Thanks everyone for sharing. We will be eating there for breakfast during our up coming trip. I chose their because our DD(21mnths) loves loves Mickey. As long as the food is ediable then that's all that matters to us.
It is a must do for every vacation we go on. DH requires breakfast at Chef Mickey's. We love the atmosphere, and we love how we are guaranteed to see the main characters with ease.
We have never been to dinner only breakfast and I think the food is good.
