Dd3 went on 7DMT in July, and did fine, but didn't want to ride it again. Same thing the previous trip with Barnstormer. She wasn't quite 40 inches so we didn't ride anything bigger.

Can you compare BTMRR to them for me, since we've never been on them? Trying to decide if we fp+ them.

We're going in February and she will be just turned 4.

Fwiw, I have an ear issue and got pretty dizzy on Barnstormer, and only very slightly so on 7DMT.

Thanks!

To me, BTMRR and 7DMT are very similar, just 7DMT has a much smoother ride.

FWIW, my 4 year old loved BTMRR more than 7DMT.

An issue I had with BTMRR was that the lap bar didn't come down nearly enough for my 5 year old. (I was heavier then.) He was sliding everywhere and I had to hold onto him. He liked it but didn't want to ride it again. DD was 10 and she rode it repeatedly with her dad.

Good to know. I had to hold dd on Barnstormer so I will be prepared if we ride it. Thanks!

We're going in a month and DS 5 is afraid of coasters...I'm still hoping to get him on BTMR since I've heard it's not too scary! DS 7 wants to ride them all! I'd really like to be able to do some as a whole family!

My son rode it last January at age 4. He's pretty fearless and also rode Barnstormer, Splash and Tower of Terror willingly, but he really did not enjoy Big Thunder too much because it was loud. At the start of the ride there is this portion where the train cars go smashing in and catch on the chain that pulls you up the hill. It's really really really loud and it freaked my son out. We know he's sensitive to loud noises so he had noise cancelling head phones on and still that part was loud enough to make him not want to ride.

I would recommend it for a four year old as long as they aren't sensitive to loud noises. The bars do stay high, but you can easily fit 2 adults and 1 child in the cars so a family of three can all ride together which makes it lots of fun.

Just FYI Splash Mountain looks like it goes faster than it feels. I was a little apprehensive about riding it from watching the ride vehicles "splash down" into the briar patch. It really didn't seem to go that fast when I was actually riding it though. It was so neat to ride it at night and see the castle lit up.
