tell me about Boxee for Apple tv

We have Apple TV, and I heard about Boxee. I have no idea what it enables the Apple TV to do once you download it. So, before we go through the trouble, can someone please explain what it would play? Thanks!

As far as I have read, Boxee is just another streaming device, like Apple TV, that enables you to watch streaming TV.

Boxee is much like a Roku or Apple TV.

Love my Boxee!!!! My BF bought it for me for Christmas. I use it to stream shows and movies from my computer's hard drive, Netflix, Youtube, etc. So easy to set up and I have had zero issues.

I guess what I do not understand is what does Boxee get me that Apple TV can't?

I don't know about boxee, but I chose Roku over apple because it offers 1080p over 720p and allows for Hulu+ as well as some Roku ind. Channels.
