I've been thinking of surprising my husband with a trip to Big Cedar in Branson. We would need to go the last two weeks of July or the first two weeks of August. There will be four of us, my husband, my daughter - 20, her boy friend and myself. I would prefer at least a one bedroom but we could maybe make do with a studio if we could get a roll-away or take a blow-up bed.

I have tried the Big Cedar website but there don't seem to be any open dates avaliable so I've been looking on E-Bay.

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in Big Cedar and Big Cedar Wilderness Club? Are they seperate and if so do both share the same facilites? Lazy River, boating, etc?

Big Cedar looks like a place my husband would really enjoy and the rest of us too. Please share any info you have.

Thanks,

Penny

My best friend worked there. If you would be comfortable PMing me your information, I can pass the info on to her, and she would be able to answer the questions or get the answers for you. :) I walked around and took pictures there in early December. It's absolutely gorgeous. She's on the boards, but I don't know if she comes on the CB at all.

We stayed at the Wilderness Club a couple of summers ago, rented a studio from Ebay, or VRBO, don't remember which one. It was nice. We did share facilities with Big Cedar, it's one big resort area, it didn't really feel separate. I enjoyed it. There are lots of activities right there, horseback riding, boating, several pools, mini-golf, kid's activities (extra cost). There was an internal shuttle you could call for that would transport you from place to place.

So they are two seperate resorts? Good to know, maybe I can find an opening at the Wilderness Club.

Was the studio large enough for four adults? We would have to have another bed some way - for my daughters boy friend.

Thanks,

Penny

Yes, the Wilderness Club is the timeshare portion of the resort, Big Cedar is more of a hotel type thing.

The studios are like a hotel room with a small kitchenette in it. It comes with a king bed and a pull out sofa bed. It would be tight, but I am sure you could put in some type of airbed. In fact, we probably did, since my DD and DS do NOT share a bed.

Big Cedar is the disney of the Ozarks. A wonderful place to go. Great fishing, good golf nearby, Branson not to far if you are into that.

Big Cedar has hotel rooms, cabins, and time shares on the same site. The amenities are available to everyone (at least the time share side is available to the hotel side)

There are a couple of casual restaurants. One finer dining restaurant. A number of pools, a marina that rents pontoons, ski and fishing boats, along with paddle boats and canoes. The marina has guides, which I have always used, and always been successful. have cought trought in the spring, Bass in the winter.

There are hiking trails, and horseback riding, along with carriage rides.

I have stayed in the hotel, and in the cabins. I have never stayed in the time shares.

The hotels and cabins are all outfitting in outdoor decor. fish, heads, animals, antlers, etc. on the walls, in the carving on the beds, etc. It is very Disney-like in that they have the entire resort themed around the outdoors and Ozarks, which makes sense since it is Bass Pro Shops' resort.

Thought about staying here before. Finding this thread very interesting.

My family has been doing family reunions to Branson for years now. We have done many trips to Big Cedar and have loved it. However, for the past 4 years we have consistently going to the "Amazing Branson Cabins" which are located about 1/2 a mile from Big Cedar.

There rates are cheaper and you get to rent a 2,3 or 4 bedroom cabin with a private hot tub, fireplace and full kitchen with all appliances. All the cabins are very rustic elegant just like Big Cedar. They also have a pool and kid play area. And it is close enough to BC to go enjoy dinner and lunch over there if you don't want to cook.

It is one log cabin community so all of our family can walk to one anthers cabins while still having our own private space. It is heaven.

Had to give my two cents. Either way you will enjoy Branson. We always do. :)

Big Cedar is great! I use to work there in activities! There are 2 different resorts. I personally would look at Wilderness first cause you can sometimes find some really good points online to use towards your stay and it really isn't that big of deal getting over to the main lodge as there is a shuttle service around the entire property!

Make sure that you check out the kids club. There are 2 different sessions. The Kids Club is different everyday and runs from noon to 3 and then there is Kids House from 4 to 8. Kids Club has more struture then Kids House but it is a great things to be know that the kids are having fun while the adults are having a signature meal!

It is in the middle of no where so unless you are planning on eating onsite all the time you might want to look at something with a kichen to make some meals. There is a store in Hollister about 20 mins away.
