Tell me about Biergarten?

I hear so many people say that Biergarten is one of their "must do" restaurants. What makes it a "must do"? We've never been there, but I just can't stop thinking, "It's GERMAN!" I think of sauerkraut and brats when I think of German food. Blech!

What will my 13 year old like about it?

What will my 4 year old like about it?

What will my 40 year old non-brat-eating-dh like about it?

What about me? I don't care for greasy food...what will I like about it?

I've made ADRs for it because so many people have recommended it, but I may need to do some convincing to get dh to keep them.

They don't have just German food on the buffet, there is 'American' food also. There are several salad choices as well. Just be careful and make sure what you are getting is what the sign says; I thought I was getting one thing but turned out it was like pickled herring or something (yech). Other than that we thought the food was good. Our grandchildren (ages 6, 7, 13) enjoyed the musicians and the dancing, as everyone is invited to dance. The kids probably enjoyed it more than the rest of us who were way to bashful to dance and have fun. The oompah band is quite good. It's just a very happy place.

We ate there for lunch 2 weeks ago on our first trip (it had been highly recommended). It was myself, DH and 6 year old DS, and we all loved it. The atmosphere was great, our waitress was really nice, and we thought the food was better than most of our meals there. They have a large assortment (some German and some not so German). They have some standards like roasted chicken, a carving station (It think it was roast when we were there but I don't remember for sure), mac and cheese, potatoes, salad, etc... The desserts were excellent!

The desserts are very good. We've been going to WDW for a few years now and only went there last month for the first time. From the outside of the building, you would never imagine how cool the inside would look like. Its like you're in the middle of a small village, with the walls made to look like houses and shops, with windows, signs, balconies, etc. I can't remember anything about the food, sorry, but the inside was very interesting to look at.

Personally, this is the one restaurant that my family has voted to never do again. We didn't like it at all. For what it's worth though, all of our least favorite places are buffets.

The atmosphere is soooo much fun. The band is great, the kids will be entertained so you can actually eat, and the beer is good and it is a fun place to meet other families.

But, it's German food. I grew up eating most of this stuff regularly, so nothing is out of the ordinary for my family. I think with the carved meats and breads and salads you might find enough to enjoy. Re-read the menu and see if your family will eat it, or if you'll be stopping later for another dinner!:goodvibes

Is the band there at lunch?

Yes, the band is always there. The food is yummy, the people are great, atmosphere relaxing, and all around good place. It is not one of our must do places -- but we do go about once a year.
