Ok I got a code on Thursday, but to use it we had to switch from POP to AllStar Sports. I was really excited about POP, heard the food court was good, didnt have to share buses with any other resorts, etc. But we saved 900.00 to switch so of course I had to !!! Tell me about All Star Sports - the good, the bad, and the ugly !!!

It is always good to get updated info, but below are some threads I have subsribed to and a cut and paste from one of my posts...

I love ASSp and, go figure, am NOT a sports buff, we love staying in the surf's up section, very fun and light, I think both buildings are preferred rooms. We like it because the parking is close, the food court is close, the pools are close, the Laundry is close (going for 13 days) and we have a 1 and 3 yr old... both girls... little legs get tired, as do bigger ones. The close proximity of everything is key for us. We also like the slightly busy food court area, I can relax even if the kids are wining and tired without having to hush them because no-one can hear them. We teach our children to behave of course, but if the 1 yr old drops a morsel on the floor, I don't have to be mortified, last year she spilled syrup... UGH!!! (yes I cleaned it up).
good luck in you decision, from what I read you'll enjoy either

we changed to Movies because of the pool closing but love sports...

Here are some of my photos of, of course, the pool and the surfs up bldg.

Hi, I am new to the forum but I am staying at Sports 8/26-9/1. I have never stayed at a value before and we had no plans to do Disney this year but, the free dining plan was too good an opportunity to pass up. Any hints or tips for a first time value? Love POR and CBR but needed to keep costs down this trip.

We have stayed there twice and will be there again on the 26th. We were going to stay at Port Orleans but, my son really likes sports! I was a little bummed about the pool but, I figure that we can just use the smaller pool or go next door to music. The piano pool there is pretty cool too. The food court is fine and I found that the transportation was the best at sports.

the pool is closed? How long will that be for?

According to WDWInfo, "Surfboard Pool and Kiddie Pool closed for refurbishment from 8/27 - 10/04. The Grand Slam pool will remain open and guests can also use the pool at the two other All Star Resorts."

Quick question for those that have stayed there before - can you hook up a video camera or video game system to the TV easily?

I've stayed there twice, spending so much time at the parks, I really didn't need much other than a place to stay (we like staying on property).

First, one nice thing is the buses. While you share with the other two AS resorts, you get on first on the way to the parks, which means you'll have a seat in all likelihood. And secondly, you'll get off first on the way home from the parks. This is why I think it's better than the other two.

The food court is good, gets the job done without any problems. Other than that, not much going on at the resort, which is what you'd expect at a value resort. I don't have anything to really complain about during my two stays there, though.

looks like we'll be there around the same time :)

HI! :welcome: My DH and I will be staying at the Assp as well. 8/30-9/8! This will be my first time staying at a value resort as well, so I don't really know what to expect. I have heard good and bad things about it. We requested to stay in a room in the football complex. We're both huge football fans! Last year for our honeymoon we stayed at the CBR and loved it!

Disney is rehabbing this resort.

they have finished (I think) the baseball area. Not sure where else they are finished.

I am asking for a rehab room. Hope to get one! of course with everyone else here asking for one - someone will be disappointed.

Thank you for the welcome. I have a preferred reservation but have requested to be near the Grand Slam pool. We are driving down and won't be using the transportation so we don't need to be near the bus stop. I am so excited! Can't wait to go. My DD6 is over the moon happy. She is marking off the calendar. My DS9 is playing it cool but, he packed his bag already. LOL!

i don't think you can be with a preferred view - those are near the food court & bus stop.

grand slam is where the baseball is and it isn't near the preferred area. I am pretty sure that Surf's up is the preferred section

I tried to find the All Star Sports in the resort stuff at the top of this page - nothing.

Pop, Movies and Music has one - but Sports doesn't

anyway here are some pictures

here is a map

so if anyone comes back and loves Sports - well it does need a fan!!!

Yes, the TVs have the plug ins for the yellow, red and white cords. If not in the front then definitely in the back of the TV. Couple years ago we forgot the cords for a portable DVD player. So now its only used for the drive.

Like a PP said Surf's Up has the main pool but the Grand Slam pool is great too. Plus those bldgs have already been refurb'd. They charged $12 more a night for preferred. If you are going during the time when Surf's Up is closed I'd call and downgrade (tell them you are downgrading because Surf's Up will be closed) they shouldn't charge you a fee(if you have a package sometimes they charge a fee when downgrading) but since the pool closing is not your fault you shouldn't be charged for downgrading. Ask for the Baseball Bldgs (8 & 9) to be requested or Football bldgs (7 & 10)

Thank you all! I can't tell you how nice every one here has been. It has been a really tough couple of weeks for our family. Lots of home repairs(including a weeble in the shower drain) So we are really looking forward to this trip and I can't wait to get to the happiest place on earth.

Just beware! Once you stay onsite there is no looking back. My first stay at All-Stars was 11 yrs ago and we will be there again next month, in between then and now we have probably stayed at least 25 times at All-Stars not to mention Poly, WL, CR, POP, POR, and AKL but All-Stars always draws us back.
