For our park trips I usually carry a smaller sized backpack - its just DH and I most trips as our kids are grown and being an 80s girl I tend to wear it one-strap over a shoulder. This last trip it was a lot on my back/shoulder so I thought I'd look into a sling style backpack but I don't know where to start!

Some TMI, but I have a larger chest and I've tried sling bags way back in the day but think its time to revisit them - and I did try double-strapping my mini backpack but it just wasn't comfortable in my armpit area...perhaps it has something to do with "what was in the way".... :rolleyes1

Anyway, what sling bags do you like - and what size is it? I feel like I don't want a huge bag but concerned that a mini-bag may be too small!

Thanks!

I find that the sling backpacks hurt my neck and are horribly uncomfortable after a couple hours in the park. If you don’t carry a lot of stuff I have found that a drawstring backpack is super light and easy to pack in your suitcase and much more comfortable.

I use sling packs a lot.
If not carrying much I use a small Eddie Bauer one

Bigger I like Adidas

I am a crossbody/sling person with same TMI issues. I traditionally carried a regular sized backpack because I've always needed tons of things for DS#1. I would sling it over one shoulder but it got so heavy. I eliminated some items over time and got to where I could do smaller.

I bought a new smaller sling bag that I felt would be lighter and cooler for our summer trips this year. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! So light and comfortable with plenty of room even though smaller. So happy with it I bought a second one for backup. DS#2 was with me this summer and really liked it and ordered his own in a different print. And in the parks I've lost count how many compliments I've gotten. AND I ordered it because I saw a guy at the parks with one.

I bought a Waterfly sling from Amazon and love it! The cell phone holder on the strap is the perfect place to put my sunglass case. You can switch the sling so you can wear it on either side.

Waterfly
I was JUST looking at this one last night!!

and I also forgot to mention that I'm left handed but I also wear my backpack on my left shoulder....which is usually the opposite so I feel I would need a sling that could work on both shoulders..

thanks!

I KNOW! When I saw it in the parks I about lost it. That night I was online hunting it. I have used last four trips and love it. I have a backup in closet. I even added HM patch, and a HM Fast Pass "keychain". And it is a very smooth soft fabric that repels water.

Love the HM one! :lovestruc

I have an LLBean crossbody but I didn’t love wearing it in the parks. It felt awkward and I had to spin it around every time I wanted to get something out of it, like my phone to take a picture, or my wallet or lip balm, etc. Everything felt smushed and it made me sweaty. (I currently use it for dog walking supplies.)

I bought a Loungefly backpack at Disney Springs a few years back and that works a lot better for me in the parks. It‘s relatively small and fits my essentials comfortably, Not generally a backpack person, so the thing I don’t like with that, too, is trying to get anything out of it. (My phone is easy because there’s a little side pocket it fits in, but I’m always worried it will somehow fall out, at the same time.) It becomes a chore taking it off and putting it back on again all the time.

My favorite bag to bring to the parks is just a little no-name shoulder bag about the size of a box of candy. It holds my phone, a credit card and my lip balm, and that’s all I bring. (Today I would probably clip a small hand sanitizer onto it, too.) Of course then I’m missing all my other supplies when I need them, but it‘s also really freeing, lol.

Good luck with your purchase! PS I did peek at those HM ones on AmazonSmile and I saw they have one that’s drawstring style that someone mentioned above, also.

I'm in Barcelona right now and using a Patagonia atom 8l sling bag. I like that I can easily slide it to the front of my body.

I love my Vera Bradley Slings. I have two regular size ones for everyday use and a small size one for the parks. The small size can be converted into a fanny pack as well!
