How is it different then the regular 2 bedroom? I am trying to figure out points for our 2010 Christmas trip. With the way Christmas lands its a major pain. I have a few options and one is to do our regular 7 nights in Disney in a 2 bedroom value checking out CHristmas day and going to the Nick hotel for the kids since they are begging and that will be 232 pts. Or I can cut the trip short by one day and do a standard 1bdroom and stay at AKL the whole time for 218pts. There is 5 of us the kids will be 10, 9, and 8 then. With Christmas being on a Saturday its kinda killing our points. 2 weekend nights in premier is OUCH! But its the only time we can go.

So I guess the question is what is the difference with the value rooms and which would you chose?

The main difference is size. The value studios are about 315 sq ft compared to about 359 for others, and the 1BR is about 610 sq ft compared to 712 (at Jambo) or 815 (at Kidani), and thus combined as 2BR lock-off they are also smaller. Five in a 2BR value would likely work.

The other difference is simply location. All the values are at the front part of the Jambo building and you can get pool, savanna or parking lot view (you can request savanna or pool view but neither is guaranteed; however most of the values are either pool or savanna view). Also, for that time of year, you will need to call 11 months out

The value studio is near equivalent size to a standard room at POFQ, if that gives any reference. They are 3 1/2 feet shorter from entry to balcony than the standard and higher booking categories at Jambo.

We have 5 (My fly. & DMIL) going at MG time (Feb. '10), and I had a value 2BR booked. My gut ended up pushing me to the standard 2BR because I'm just concerned about the space we would lose in the value.

We generally book a standard 1BR anyway but went with the 2BR for DMIL to have her own space. Remember if you book a standard 1BR at Kidani you get a 2nd bathroom.

We have a 2bd. value booked for Aug for our family of 6. You can see their ages in my signature. I have stayed in the value studio and I could tell the difference of a regular studio, but it was no big deal. We stayed in the standard 2bd. last May and I felt is was very spacious, so I am not worried about the 3ft short in each room. I can't part with those extra points for 3ft, it means I get to go to the F & W Festival with just my husband.:cool1:

If there are only 5 of you, I think a value 2 bedroom would be fine. I stayed in a value one bedroom, and there were 3 adults, and it really was wonderful. We had a pool view. Yes there are places that you do wish you had those 3 feet. One is when you try to close the master bedroom door. You have to watch where you're standing. You could have the second bedroom for your 3 children, so no one would be using the sofa bed, which makes it even better than we had. However, for the weekend points and the amenities of the beautiful AKV, I think those accomodations are a true value.

Thanks everyone. I think we will be doing the 2 bedroom value. We are diong a 1 bdroom Savannah view this Christmas but its not costing us 2 weekend nights in premier only one. I think I like the idea of not having to pull out the sofa bed in the living area and if the kids argue over sharing a bed there is another one.

Heck if we pulled off 5 of us in 2 value rooms and were not overly squished I think the 2 bedroom value will suit us just fine.

Now it does still have the full kitchen right? Also what about the master bathroom does it have the tub? I don't care about teh extra shower as long as I have a nice big tub!

Yes, it has a full kitchen. There is a tub/shower/whirlpool combination. If you're used to a tub, it should fill the bill. I use a shower mostly. The tub has a wide "frame" and it must be a bit deeper than my usual, so I had to be very careful getting in and out. But it wasn't a real problem.

All 1BRs (and thus 2BRs) in Jambo have the combo tub/shower/whirlpool. As noted it is a high step over into the tub and thus be careful doing it. As to other funiture, it essentially has the same furniture as other rooms (except for a couple things taken out such as the sleeper chair) and that fact, since much of the furniture is large and bulky, makes it seem somewhat smaller than it actually is.

Kinda OT, but has anyone had 10 people stay in a the 2 Bedroom. I know the books say Sleeps 9. We are trying to travel in Jan, with a group of 10. 4 Adults and 6 kids.

No flames please, just a ?

I'm sure you'll be comfortable. I'm confident we would have done fine in the value 2BR for Feb., but since we've stayed in a standard before, I'm kind of the "like to know what I'm getting" type, so bumping up was not an issue for us--and it was only 10 more points. Taking into account the time of year you're taking this trip, I totally get doing the value.

think you will be fine - the 2-bedroom value is a lock out. so king bed and one queen bed - are the only true beds. queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, double sleeper sofa in second bedroom. Two baths. Don't like the master bath in Jambo - it is just a combination tub/shower.

the 2-bedroom standard at Kidani will have dedicated and 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. It will also have 3 baths. the wonderful master bathroom - separate whirlpool tub and shower. plus 2 other bathrooms with combination.

so just depends upon what you want.

Nick hotel is changing owners.
