We have spring break reservations at the HH resort next month. Our kids (3 teens) are happy to be going to visit their Grandpa (husband is from HH), but one started moping around already saying there isn't much to do there. He is the one whose 16th birthday will be spent there. We've been to HH lots, but have never stayed at the Disney resort. What are some things unique to the resort that the teens will enjoy? They will probably play golf a few times, we'll eat out, go to the beach, and we will rent bikes. The birthday boy is a runner, so he'll probably run on the bike paths every day. Short of bringing the girlfriend (no room), does anyone have ideas of fun things for teenagers?

Our 3 have never found themselves bored at HHI ( our eldest 2 are now 20 & 23 and still find plenty to make them happy onsite at the resort & off ).

The daily onsite activities (or those organized from resort to offsite location) will vary from day to day but there will always be at least a couple to cover all age categories, adults too. There are dolphin tours & fishing trips that can be arranged and many nature related tours/activities, workout room & campfire usually held 2x each week.

From activity schedule when we were last there in August, your teens may be particularly interested in things like Teen's Night Out ( ages 13 - 17 ) which is pizza & movie or mini golf outing under supervision of CMs, golf lessons (13 +), teen kayak trip, teen capture the flag, pool games at main pool & beach house, teen field day to Chapin Park, tie dye tshirts - - I'm not sure if these will all be taking place next month but you can contact the resort a few days before your visit and they will fax you the activity schedule for that time.

Also, at the Lodge there is a pool table in Big Murgie's Den, horse shoe pit at rear of Lodge building and fishing pier with equipment available to be rented at Broadcreek Mercantile (by Big Dipper<resort> Pool) and bait and crab nets are available for purchase too. You might want to check into Outside Hilton Head to for various tours & activities that may be fun for them too.

Best wishes & hope you'll all have a wonderful stay :goodvibes

Both of my boys spent most of their time @ the fishing pier crabbing but I am not sure if crabbing is any good that early we were there in June, neither 1 of them ever griped about being there the whole week.

If the birthday boy's a runner, might I suggest that you check on-line for the schedule of the Island Rec center's road races. HHI seems to have a pretty active road race schedule and doing one might be fun. DH runs every morning about 3-4 miles, and he found a 5K going on when we were there. So instead of his usual early morning run to the Beach House and back, he did the Piggly Wiggly Turkey Trot 5K. He didn't take it competitively-just put in his ipod headphones and jogged. For $30, he got a teeshirt, a participation medal, and free food and drink afterwards-not a bad expense at HHI. And it was lots of fun-

That's a great idea! He's on the high school cross country team and has done several DFW area 5/10Ks.

The only race I know of around that time (so far) is the Shamrock 5K.
