Teenage Mutant Backseat Dancers - 11/18 UPDATE! P25 - Leaving on a jet plane

On the soured milk - YUK!!! Been there, done that, learned my lesson. I always check expiration dates when buying anything from a gas station/convenience store type place. Glad it didn't make you sick, though.

Sounds like a nice breakfast, if not the best. We've had some of those cello-wrapped-donut breakfast at some places too. Rather disappointing...

The "I'm trying" from the pile of blankets... I can picture that, and it's just too funny!

Seems like the hotel should have sent you a notice that they were changing names/brands! Very nice of them to honor the price you had, though.

Very nice rooms. But what's the idea of having a door if you're just gonna put a big ole pane of glass in it? At least it was a real bed!!

The DISmeet sounded wonderful! Looks like you all had a great time visiting. And that pizza! Oh, my. :worship: It looks devine!!

You have some good pictures from the DISmeet. Your daughter does well as paparazzi. :thumbsup2

Thought I'd share the ones from my camera:

As you can see, we were all having a great time!

Looks like a great meet! So nice to put Dis names to faces!

Spoiled milk...gross!

I'm boarding the fun bus....hey, at least it's not the short bus right?! Sorry...I'm still a little loopy from the medication I have been on to deal with allergies of all things. Was down and out since last Thursday (including my birthday). Finally beginning to feel human again!

I did want to swing by and say I'm here, I'm reading along, and I'm loving it so far! Great DISmeet! Sounds like it would have been a great time all around. It's funny when you have been following along with these people on the boards for years, and (if you are like us) talk to your family about them like they are your best friends, and then you finally get to meet them! Makes for very exciting stories

Just a couple of things...Rainforest cafe, we have learned there are only a few things that we absolutely love to get from there everytime we go. The pizza is a must! Great pepperoni pizza, and can feed between 2 or 3 people. The other is their pasta. They have a good fettuccine with broccoli. Other than that, it's only good for the drinks and the VOLCANO!

That pizza looks delicious, I'm usually not one for deep dish, but with it being baked so much, it sounds heavenly. When you mentioned that the girls all scraped off the tomatoes from their pizza, I had to laugh, I think that would have been something T-Man would have done too. He's not a fan of tomatoes. So at least him and the girls have something in common.

Ok...I'm going back to my hole now. I am submitting my final budget proposal/scope of work draft for my new position and I am hoping it gets approved! Can't wait to read more! :upsidedow

and a fun time was had by all!:dance3: (except nebo and I each only had one beer. harrumph:lmao:)

it really was just like meeting up with old friends. well, i guess we have been friends for a while. ok, it was lke meeting up with old friends AGAIN!

your welcome again, but there wasn't any need to let everyone know we paid. I would have liked to have hosted at out house, but it's really small, and you can't come to chicago without getting deep dish pizza! I just cornered the waiter right away. if I hadn't he would have had to ask at the start 'how many checks is this on?", cause servers hate it when you don't tell them till the meal is over that you need 5 checks for 6 people. lol

hey marie! where's the picture of me? :confused3 actually, I really hate pictures... cause of my squinty eyes!!!!! (but ponzi, you can keep complimenting me all you want!!:listen: ) when I was a teen there was a movie "the courtship of eddie's father" with ronnie howard. and the little boy hated the lady his dad was dating. he knew she was sneaky cause she had squinty eyes and a big bust! .... OMG! my mom wouldn't let up on me after that....".Smidgy is sneaky cause she has squinty eyes and a big bust" (folks... my mom)
about the tomatos. the funny thing is nebo HATES (loathes, despises) tomatos, tomato soup, and tomato juice. he won't even drink a bloody mary (and I make the best ones, with horseradish, which is wisconsin style) first time I made chili for him I used stewed tomatos and he hated it. onlytomato sauce from now on. but he loves spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce. and Lou Malnati's is very tomatoey... and he loves it. go figure.
(I hear he also despises ladies with squintyeyes and a big bust.. go figure..)

Looks like a fun group :) Pizza huh? No knives, no flaming hot cooking surface? Well, at least no chance of Nebo burning the place down :smokin:

Isn't it strange meeting someone for the first time and you feel like you already know so much about them????

I'm here  Great writing as usual and very cool to have more Dismeets on this trip (especially with Nebo & Smidgy:cool1:).
Thanks for the heads up about this report, I had been falling behind on the last one. I have been on the DIS infrequently over the past couple months due to hunting for and purchasing my dream car then taking said dream car on a few road trips, latest one was to Edmonton.
I look forward to reading about the rest of your trip popcorn::

On the soured milk - YUK!!! Been there, done that, learned my lesson.

Me too.

I always check expiration dates when buying anything from a gas station/convenience store type place. Glad it didn't make you sick, though.

You're glad!!!
Pretty sure I'll be checking the dates, now.

Sounds like a nice breakfast, if not the best. We've had some of those cello-wrapped-donut breakfast at some places too. Rather disappointing...

Yes.... rather.

The "I'm trying" from the pile of blankets... I can picture that, and it's just too funny!

It's the one story I tell when people ask me about the trip.

Seems like the hotel should have sent you a notice that they were changing names/brands! Very nice of them to honor the price you had, though.

Apparently, they did call the house, but that doesn't help me when I'm not at the house.
Plus you'd think they'd know a little earlier than just the day it happens...

Very nice rooms. But what's the idea of having a door if you're just gonna put a big ole pane of glass in it? At least it was a real bed!!

It was funny when it happened though.
Dee and I just burst out laughing.
Made changing a tad problematic, though.

I will miss that bed in the coming days on the TR.

The DISmeet sounded wonderful! Looks like you all had a great time visiting. And that pizza! Oh, my. :worship: It looks devine!!

The meet was great.
The pizza was great.

Don't ask me which one rates higher, okay?

Thought I'd share the ones from my camera:

Thanks for sharing those, Marie.
I chuckled at that one, since when I posted this one

I remember thinking, "Marie must've been taking a photo at the same time."

Looks like a great meet! So nice to put Dis names to faces!

Spoiled milk...gross!

It was really nice to finally meet them!

And yes... the milk was definitely not a high point of the trip.

I'm boarding the fun bus....hey, at least it's not the short bus right?!

So... you're saying you have experience with this?

Come to think of it... considering the crew we've got here.... :rolleyes1

Sorry...I'm still a little loopy from the medication I have been on to deal with allergies of all things. Was down and out since last Thursday (including my birthday). Finally beginning to feel human again!

Glad to hear you're on the mend now.
I'll say more over on your TR, when I'm done catching up with shout outs here.

I did want to swing by and say I'm here, I'm reading along, and I'm loving it so far!

Great! Glad you're liking it.

Great DISmeet! Sounds like it would have been a great time all around. Makes for very exciting stories

I'll talk about people I've never met and...
well, I think she's gotten used to it now, but Ruby used to look at me funny and say, "Who is this?"
Now she just looks at me funny.

Oh, sure.
Now you tell me!
Next time, I'll try to remember that....
Hopefully there won't be a next time.

That pizza looks delicious, I'm usually not one for deep dish, but with it being baked so much, it sounds heavenly.

Honest.
It's gooood.

When you mentioned that the girls all scraped off the tomatoes from their pizza, I had to laugh, I think that would have been something T-Man would have done too. He's not a fan of tomatoes. So at least him and the girls have something in common.

Yes.
I can quite easily see that bunny boy would have much in common with giggling teenage girls.

Ok...I'm going back to my hole now.

It's okay folks.
She means her rabbit hole.

Right?

I am submitting my final budget proposal/scope of work draft for my new position and I am hoping it gets approved! Can't wait to read more! :upsidedow

Well, make sure you let us know how it goes.
And is this new position a good thing?

and a fun time was had by all!:dance3: (except nebo and I each only had one beer. harrumph:lmao:)

 Okay, Smidgy. One beer only.
I originally was going to wrote that you only had one,
but just as I was typing it, I stopped and thought,
"Are you sure? Maybe they ordered another one?"

it really was just like meeting up with old friends. well, i guess we have been friends for a while. ok, it was lke meeting up with old friends AGAIN!

::yes::

your welcome again, but there wasn't any need to let everyone know we paid.

Oh, I didn't let everyone know.

Nebo doesn't come on here much anymore since he's having trouble seeing.
And Thumpy boy is pretty much illiterate as you know.

Besides, now everyone will want to come visit you!

"So who are these Nebo and Smidgy people?"
"I don't know, but we can get a free meal out of them when we visit Chicago!"

See? Very helpful.

I would have liked to have hosted at out house, but it's really small, and you can't come to chicago without getting deep dish pizza!

It would've been fun no matter where we met, but this way you didn't have to go to any trouble.
Or maybe trouble for Nebo.

Smidgy (Said with a Chicago twang):
"Steve! Did you scrub the bathroom, floor to ceiling? They're going to be here any minute!"
Nebo: "Why? They're not eating in the bathroom!"
Smidgy: "Just do it!"

I just cornered the waiter right away. if I hadn't he would have had to ask at the start 'how many checks is this on?", cause servers hate it when you don't tell them till the meal is over that you need 5 checks for 6 people. lol

I shoulda known not to try and outsmart you.

actually, I really hate pictures... cause of my squinty eyes!!!!! (but ponzi, you can keep complimenting me all you want!!:listen: )

Ah. You make it so easy.

when I was a teen there was a movie "the courtship of eddie's father" with ronnie howard. and the little boy hated the lady his dad was dating. he knew she was sneaky cause she had squinty eyes and a big bust! .... OMG! my mom wouldn't let up on me after that....".Smidgy is sneaky cause she has squinty eyes and a big bust" (folks... my mom)

First off... next time, I want a Bloody Mary... or Caesar.

Second... that's just.... weird.
I actually understand the spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce thing since that's how Elle is.
But he loves Lou Malnati's? Which is basically just stewed tomatoes?

Always knew the boy was a bit... off.

(I hear he also despises ladies with squintyeyes and a big bust.. go figure..)

:lmao:
Couldn't despise you too much.
He married you twice.

Looks like a fun group :) Pizza huh? No knives, no flaming hot cooking surface? Well, at least no chance of Nebo burning the place down :smokin:

Isn't it strange meeting someone for the first time and you feel like you already know so much about them????

I think everyone was watching Nebo like a hawk, even without dangerous implements close at hand.

One thing that didn't happen, though.
(And, a part of me was disappointed.)
He didn't knock the whole pizza off onto the floor.

And yes, it is kind of strange.
You just start talking.
Things like, "So how's this." or "What's so and so doing now?"
But it's nice, too.

Hi Kris!

Great writing as usual

Thanks!

and very cool to have more Dismeets on this trip (especially with Nebo & Smidgy:cool1:).

::yes::

Oh?
This I gotta hear about!
What kind of car? Whatcha get?

This is him:love:

This is him:love:

Very nice! Is that a Ford Pinto?!?!

Okay! Okay! I'm kidding!
It's a really nice car.
I remember when I first saw one two or three years ago.
I stopped in my tracks.
I hadn't been aware that they were bringing it back.

A very good use of your money, if I do say so myself.

Thanks! It's a sexy, comfortable, fast, fun car with more horsies in it than I probably should have ;)

Great installment Ponz.

I'm very glad to hear that you got your quoted room rate AND a real bed. Too funny about the glass door though. Probably not what you wanted to see when sharing a suite with 2 teen girls. :lmao:

DIS meets scare me. I'm not worried that the people I meet won't be nice, but that I won't be nearly as interesting in person (awfully presumptuous of me I know, but I like to think I'm somewhat interesting...) I'm so glad that you got to meet Nebo, Smidgy, and Marie though! How fun! Never try to outsmart a server when it comes to taking the bill. We know ALL of the tricks. Good for you Smidgy! I think some deep dish pizza was a perfect Welcome to Chicago meal.

I know that you've posted pics of yourself before, but since they're so few and far between I always picture you like the neighbor from Home Improvement (only visible from the nose up). :lmao:

Can't wait to hear what you did in Chicago-and if you got any Garrett's popcorn!

Thanks! It's a sexy, comfortable, fast, fun car with more horsies in it than I probably should have ;)

 Just don't be like these people

Great installment Ponz.

Thanks Shan!

I'm very glad to hear that you got your quoted room rate AND a real bed. Too funny about the glass door though. Probably not what you wanted to see when sharing a suite with 2 teen girls. :lmao:

I couldn't believe they gave me that rate.
I thought for sure they'd say something like:
"We can't give you that since we don't use those points, so we'll give you the AAA rate."

I was literally, dumbfounded when I closed that door!

It all worked out, though.
For changing, I'd hide in the corner and they'd just the bathroom.

DIS meets scare me. I'm not worried that the people I meet won't be nice, but that I won't be nearly as interesting in person (awfully presumptuous of me I know, but I like to think I'm somewhat interesting...)

I'm sure you guys would be fun to meet.

I was worried too, about meeting expectations.
But then I thought, "If they don't like me, nobody will ever know.
And if they post it here, I'll call them big, mean liars."

See? No sweat!

Besides, only about half my readers truly know how incredibly dull I am in person.

Right Nebo... and Smidgy... and mmeb144... and Orangecats2... and bankr63...

I'm so glad that you got to meet Nebo, Smidgy, and Marie though!

::yes::

Never try to outsmart a server when it comes to taking the bill. We know ALL of the tricks.

Yeah. Sure.

Now you tell me!

I know that you've posted pics of yourself before, but since they're so few and far between I always picture you like the neighbor from Home Improvement (only visible from the nose up). :lmao:

Didn't he finally come out from behind the fence at the end?
Or maybe I'm just thinking of the series end party photos.

Can't wait to hear what you did in Chicago-and if you got any Garrett's popcorn!

All will be revealed... in the next chapter.

Whadda ya mean Cleveland isn't on the way to Niagara Falls!!! Of course it is!

I also like Mustangs. I've had two. First was an '81 not a great year for them. Second was a '99. 35 year anniversary edition. That was an awesome car! However, driving it in the snow was not awesome and I got rid of it after only two winters. I want another one! I miss it.

The pizza does look good. I would have also scraped off the tomatoes. I'm another one that loves pasta sauce and ketchup but hates tomatoes. Nebo and I have discussed this on the phone and he and I are in agreement. I keep meaning to call them and forget.

I can't remember what Ponzie looks like either. :confused3

Whadda ya mean Cleveland isn't on the way to Niagara Falls!!! Of course it is!

Well, sure.
But so is anyplace.
"I'm traveling from New York to Niagara Falls.... via San Francisco."

Actually, the quickest way to the Falls (Canada side) from Chicago is either
through Sarnia or Detroit.
Going through Cleveland adds another forty minutes or so to the drive.

Don't you feel special, now that you know I think you were worth a forty minute detour?

Interesting about the winter driving.
I wonder how the new ones are?
Probably better, I'd guess.

The pizza does look good. I would have also scraped off the tomatoes. I'm another one that loves pasta sauce and ketchup but hates tomatoes.

Another one!
Sheesh, maybe you should have joined us in Chicago.
They could've made an extra pizza out of all the left over tomatoes!

I can't remember what Ponzie looks like either. :confused3

I'll post a picture in about two chapters that should jog your memory.
