We are planning to book a cruise in August and my son will be turning 18 two weeks before we go. Will he be able to participate in the Common Grounds Teen Club or are they really strict on age. He is a "very young" 17 year old.

If you go up to the club and speak to the counselors during their registration on embarkation afternoon, they will most likely allow him in if they have room. I did this twice with my daughter, the last time when she was 19 and she enjoyed it very much, specially since her younger sister was there too. :)

Common Grounds (WOnder) or The Stack (Magic) is for ages 13-17. Yes, they are reasonably strict, although you can always talk to the counsellors.

As the mom of a "new" 13 year old, I'm already concerned about the age spread....although activities are sometimes split 13-14 and 15-17. I know that's my problem (the concern, I mean).

You son will be welcomed in the adult areas at night, although he won't be allowed to order alcohol (drinking age is 21.)

DCL does a great job trying to cater to all age groups however I believe that the 18-20 Year olds get the 'short end of the stick'. Yes,yes I know...they can go to all the adult areas but they can not drink. 18-20 YO are coming into their own and are not particularly interested in 'adult' activities. Most would prefer a more active and age specific social area.
