It must be the age - all of my kids (13,15,20)really couldn't come up with anything for their "big gifts" either!
I told them I must be doing really well at spoiling them if they couldn't come up with anything!
They all said "oh, there are things we want but either they are too expensive, or you won't buy them".

For example - my oldest has been asking for a dirt bike for Christmas since he was, I believe, 5...still asks every year! Slow learner I guess.
Oldest is actually getting mostly money and gift certificates. I am not a fan of this, but it's what he really wants, so I bite the bullet and do it. He's getting a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt, a MN Vikings t-shirt, a couple nicer shirts, and 2 pair of jeans. The rest is gift cards.
DS15 is getting Turtle Beach headphones, a bow fishing reel, clothes, some fishing lures, and gift certificates. This coming from the child who has always come up with his big present but then never seems to use it very often. Last year he wanted a bow. So...we hunt and search for a reasonable bow (those things are stinking EXPENSIVE!!) and got a barely used one on Craigslist - he's used it maybe 2 or 3 times. (And notice he asked for a bow fishing reel for that bow this year - whatever

). 2 years ago he "had to have" a guitar. Played it all of 3 times and it's sat in the corner ever since.
