Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a birthday party I'm giving for my soon to be 14 year old daughter. It will be for an all girl party and I'm having trouble figuring out any games or activities that everyone can participate in that they won't find boring. I have visions of them all sitting there bored out of their minds and wishing they were somewhere else, prob in front of their computers or texting their friends. lol Not good! Thanks for any suggestions.:confused3

Is the party at your house? By 14 I think most kids will entertain themselves when they get together with friends. Maybe you could rent a movie or somehting, but I think you just have to provide the food :)

All you need to provide once they hit the teens is a movie or a game sytem and games, and FOOD....lol!! My 13 yo had a sleepover for her birthday...I had to cut the girls (4 of them) off at a pound and a half of bacon. :rotfl:

14 year olds dont really need games. They'll just want to watch movies and eat. And don't feel bad when you see them texting anyway--that's typical teen behavior :).

When DD turned 14 last year she and her friends came up with their own activities. The year before, though, they enjoyed playing LCR (Left, Center, Right) which is a game that is played with special dice and chips. The dice keep getting passed around the table and when they are rolled they instruct the roller to pass their chips to the left, center, or right or to keep their chips. The last one with any chips wins and I had prizes for the winner. With a lot of girls this can take a long time and keep them occupied for quite some time. I think they also played Twister last year, at least for a little while. One of the years I made up a bunch of Trivia questions and gave prizes to the person who answered correctly first. These are some suggestions you can put out to your daughter.

DD will be 14 tomorrow, and she would die if I planned games at her party. In fact, she didn't want a party this year. She did have a Halloween party. They just wanted movies, junk food and more junk food. They did play a game that they invented. But at that age, you don't need to organize anything for them to do.

Did you ask your DD what she wanted?

That's exactly what I was going to say! I have a DD13 and DD15 and if they had a party they would not want me to show my face, nevermind plan games.

My dd13 would die if I was planning activities for her party! She and her 8 - 9 good friends get together for a 7 - 10 at least one night a week. I give her $ and they walk to shoprite to buy their snacks, and they are NEVER bored! When she has birthday parties, she's even responsible for inviting everyone, and letting me know how many.

You should get a bunch of that fake wine that is really grape juice.
I'm sixteen and thats what i would have at a b-day party welches fake wine ( is it called sparkling grape juice? )

OMG - what happens to teen girls?! In grade school, girls eat NOTHING at parties. Dd and her friends (they're all super skinny, BTW), can't get enough! Figure a bag of chips per girl - LOL! They've been ordering chinese at each party - lots of chinese...

My DD had her 13th birthday party two weeks ago and they had a ball. I got a friend who is really good with a camera and we had a 'photo shoot'. We went to a park and they coordinated outfits (jeans and different color tank tops) and did individual shots, group shoots and silly shots...they had a great time and after I got a disk with all the pictures and gave a copy to each girl The pictures were instantly on Facebook!:teeth:

Apples to Apples is a fun game.

For one of my Ds parties I had them make truffles...I made the batter and chilled in advance, then they just rolled it into balls and rolled in cocoa, sprinkles, etc. Nice to have the candy papers and cute little boxes...they are making their own party favor.

Thanks everyone. I can't ask my daughter because she has no idea it's happening. It's a surprise! So I'll make sure I have lots of food and a movie or 2 and let it just happen. ( and I'll try not to embarrass her) lol

Good plan--just have food ready and the kids will take care of it themselves. We have had 2 parties here in the past month for our 14 year olds. They took care of everything, including MAKING the food (for their formal homecoming dinner even). All I did was take some pictures and serve the food (my choice). They would have been mortified if we did any more than that :lmao:.

dd turned 13 in Oct. We got adjoining hotel rooms at a hotel with pool and activities such as ping pong, basketball, videogames and fooseball. After they were done with that stuff, they went to their room (dd and 2 friends) and me and my other 4 children were in ours. We had adjoining rooms but of course they wanted their door shut:laughing: I had gotten them plain pillow cases and fabric markers to decorate and they had fun with silly string. Kept them busy for quite awhile.

My DD is only turning 12, but she wants a Twilight birthday. I made invitations that look like concert tickets, we will have dinner (pizza, grilled chicken bites, fresh fruit kabobs, werewolf mix (aka trail mix) and cupcakes filled with pureed cherry pie filling. I will do some type of red drink, but we have not thought too much about that yet. I am sure will we do something with dry ice as well b/c DH loves to play with it.

I have purchased her Twilight Scene It and the Twilight DVD as well. We will watch the DVD, and then she is planning on playing the game.

We are allowing her to invite 15 people. Wish me luck! The party starts at 6pm and I am thinking everyone will go home at 11pm.

She wanted a sleepover, but she would have only been allowed to invite 5 girls...so she opted for a Saturday evening party.

There are TONS of ideas on the internet for a Twlight themed party. I probably will not get too elaborate with decorations since all of our Christmas stuff will be up and I will have to move some of the furniture out of the living room for the girls to all pile in there to watch the movie! Our house is on the smaller side, but I think they will have fun anyway.
