I just read on another thread that a lot of teen activities are split 13-14, and 15+. Do they stick with this. My son is 14 and his friend going with us is 15. I know they would prefer to do the 15+ activities-they will both be sophomores-will it be a problem to have DS do older age group? I know 2 years ago he was only 12 and they let him go to common grounds since he felt the other age group was too young for him. thanks for the input. Beth

Hi Beth,

Did they give you a hard time letting your son go into Common Grounds when he was only 12. My Daughter is 12 and we are sailing in December 27, 2003. She will be 13 that April and she will be in 7th grade. She does not want to be in the kids club. I read other posts where they said they probably will not let her into the teen club. Her brother will be 15 at the time of the cruise and she would like to hang with him for the most part. What do you think? Think this will be a problem for me?

I would think they would let your son hang with his friend. I don't see it as a big deal, but then again I don't work for Disney.

They tried to change my mind and said if it didn't work out he'd have to go to the younger group, but after the initial sign up it was no problem. I really think everyone knows their own child. Some 12 yr olds are too old for that group and some really enjoy it. He was not allowed to go on any teen excursions at the ports-they said it was a liability issue. Hope it works out. Beth

I read somewhere that a preteen has to be within one month of their 13th birthday to be considered for participation in the teen club. I am happy to know they make exceptions, probably dependant upon how many kids they have. Our DD will be 2 months within her 13th birthday and she'll just come unglued if not allowed to participate in the teen club. The only excursions they'll be doing is at Castaway. Anyone know if they will let her participate there? We had a hard time with her at the age of 10, the clubs were geared toward the younger kids. We certainly made use of the pager though. She would leave messages that she was going here or there throughout the ship. Never had to worry about where she was. Now the 13 yo that we had in 2001 had no problem making friends or just hanging out. He hung out so much the DH had to go looking for him at 1:30 in the morning. He was in Common Grounds playing games and watching TV.

There isn't a one of us that can wait till March....
