Techinal issues boarding - Fantasy

We had been wondering what was holding up boarding. Thankfully we are Platinum so were in group #1. Lunch at Animators was very quiet and only started filling up as we were finishing.

I know everyone that was delayed getting on the ship was upset, but I felt bad for the cast members who had to deal with the added stress, and then those who had to go through and verify the list to ensure everyone on board had no hiccups later in the cruise.

I personally didn't experience or overhear anyone who was upset when we were waiting or boarding. Although we were not paying attention to the first 8 or 9 boarding groups.

Possibly we were with the clueless group (originally in group 11 but moved to 17 because I think they made smaller boarding groups) as we were first timers so not up with the ones expecting a certain process and quickness.

Part of the issue was more or less when we were waiting to get through security screening since the terminal was at capacity.

That is good that you didn't hear a lot of complaining. I didn't hear any while on the cruise, more just people making comments about how they had to go through the process. I am sure the initial delay of getting the boarding started was them rebooting the system and when they realized it still didn't work, the rush to print out the passenger roster. Thankfully it was a nice day out so those stuck waiting to get into and through security weren't dealing with the extreme weather Florida can dish out.

I hope you enjoyed your first cruise.

We were on the 11/30 Fantasy as well, boarding group 12 and we arrived at 11:30 am. Finally on board at 1:30 pm. It was so crazy in the DCL terminal that a woman passed out waiting. The available seating was taken up by mostly kids. People with mobility issues had to stand.
Computer issues at the Orlando airport/DCL bus terminal also. The cast members had to reboot the system several times.

I don't get why people think their kids should have all the seating, especially over people who may have issues standing. Then again, I can't figure out why, on the train into the city for work, of all these people and their briefcases, not one would offer a very pregnant woman their seat. She had to sit on the dirty stairs in her business suit.

Well, I can tell you my kids didn't do that (when they were younger). We either held them on our laps or they sat on the steps/floor.

We were actually on the Disney shuttle for 2 1/2 hours during this issue. We left All-Star movies at 11:30 and the driver immediately came on the intercom and said it would be an hour and a half to get to the port, which I thought was odd. We were slowly chugging along and then pulled into a line of DCL buses at the port and sat for about an hour. Every now and then they would empty a bus. They would not let us off and at that point people were needing to use the “bus restroom“ and of course the toilet paper ran out. :/ So yes we were stressed and hungry and they were not sharing what was happening with us - just said there was a delay.
When they finally let Us off the bus, we then stood in a long hot security line. I realized when we got upstairs around 2:30 and the terminal was still crowded, that was not a good sign. We finished eating at cabanas around 3 and people were still pouring into the restaurant.
I sure hope they get their IT issues straightened out, because it wasn’t a good way to start off a cruise.

I was on that cruise as well. In talking with Guest Services later int he week they said the computer system didn't switch from the "old" cruise to the "new" cruise. So they had to start boarding using paper because they were still on the old cruise. When we got on we noticed that bartenders were writing down on paper for the drinks, not using KTTW cards.

So that is why when we got to our room the TV still had the previous guest name on the screen.
