Team Renfroe's 2nd Trip Report - 1,500 pictures, dining reviews, and DISmeets!

Hi Alan,

Santa for sure is making a visit to Valeria!! She already knew what she wanted on her letter at least a month ago. BTW, She asked me if Truman got his chritsmas stockings on the chimney this year, too.

The one who gets a good deal is Mercedes, as her birthday falls on Dec. 25th. For years I have been trying to convince her to treat it as a single occasion, but she is unrelenting, so I get hit with a double whammy every year :-)

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and a Happy and wonderful New Year! (and, thinking it better, a less hectic one... :) )

All the best,

Luis

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas! We had a nice Christmas as well. We closed the restaurant for four days and just spent some time together. Tell Valeria that Santa brought Truman some goodies in his stocking as well! He was just as excited as Wil and Juliana!

Hope all is well with you and your family. Last chapter coming up.

So much food porn!! Pleeaase....let me go raid the fridge now. :rotfl:

We were VERY pleasantly surprised by WP, especially after some of the reviews we had read. I probably wouldn't go for dinner, but it was an awesome lunch!

Glad you're back Alan! Not a fan of sushi but the desserts look divine! Key Lime pie is one of my favorites too!

You will not be disappointed by Earl of Sandwich either. Great place to eat.

I love love love Key Lime Pie, but I rarely have the opportunity to eat it. It was a nice treat!

orry I missed this update for a few days !!! It was aesome as usual !!! I have eaten at WPE a couple of times and that is great ad only a cs !!! The Key Lime Pie looks mouth watering !!!!! Do you have plans for another trip yet????

Hi Rosie! No plans anytime soon. Elizabeth wants to go for her 40th birthday, which is in 2012. We would all like to go before then, but life is totally getting in the way right now.

That all looked delicious, Alan! I have only eaten on the express side- I'll have to give it a shot with Pods in September!

Miss "seeing" you here!

Miss "seeing" you too, bud! Can't wait to read your trip report with Pods in September! Tell him and all the boys the Renfroe's say hello.

Ahhh....thanks! Miss all of you too. Guess I was naive to think that owning a restaurant would be a part-time gig!

After an awesome lunch at Wolfgang Puck, we decided to make a run for it through the pouring rain to Goofy's Candy Company. Since we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan, we had like a gajillion snack credits left! (Seriously, I think it was around 38 credits.) SO....it was time to pick up goodies as souvenirs for the peeps back home!

After dragging bags and bags full of goodies back to our vehicle, we were all pretty tired....and came to the conclusion that it was time for our wonderful trip to end. We still had dinner reservations at Kona for that evening. However, we had made an appointment with a man in Swainsboro, Georgia for the next morning to look at a hot dog roller (this is when we were still trying to decide if we were going to open a restaurant or not.) SO....if we went ahead and left, we could get to Swainsboro before bedtime. I hated to leave without having that last meal at Kona, but we had endured a very long, wet week and the rain was finally starting to get to us.

Reluctantly, we drove North...

We ended up staying at a hotel in Statesboro, not far from our destination.

The next day, we got up early and met with the man who had the hot dog roller for sale. He gave us a really, really good deal on it and it works great! (We use this piece of machinery EVERY day!)

On our way home we stopped just outside of Atlanta at Zaxby's for lunch.

and by 3pm, we were safely back home.....already missing Disney World!

---------

Thanks to ALL of you who have shared our trip report with us! It was a wonderful trip and we've had a great time putting this trip report together. Sorry it has taken so long, but in the months that followed this trip, our lives have gotten extremely busy. We opened our own hot dog restaurant officially in July, called B.F. Dawgs, and I continue to work my "real" job as well. Elizabeth and I are "homesick" to go back to Disney World, but it will probably be quite some time before our next trip.

Thanks to all of the wonderful friends we have made through the DISboards! Many of you are our friends on Facebook, and I hope you will stay in touch. I promise to check in on the disboards from time to time, and I may even start a pre-trip report once another date has been decided upon.

Happy New Year to all of you, and may God Bless!

Alan

Great ending Alan! Thanks for sharing you and your kids with us! Hope to see you around my new PTR from time to time... maybe even my facebook ;)

Thanks for the great report, it was really enjoyable to read! Best of luck with BF Dawgs!!!:goodvibes

Thank you very much for the wonderful trip report! I wish you all the best with the restaurant and I hope that you will be able to start that PTR soon! And not only because I would love to read it! :goodvibes

Alan, I've thoroughly enjoyed both your trip reports--sorry to see this one come to an end. I hope you and your family are able to get to Disney sooner than you expect and wish you continued success with your restaurant. A trip for your wife's 40th sounds like a perfect excuse--but a little too far off (IMO :)). Please post a link to your next pre-trippie, whenever that may be, on this thread. I don't want to lose track of the super Renfroes reports!

So sad you're done!! What a wonderful trip for such a wonderful family! So happy to have met all of you-

Hope BF Dawgs continues to be a huge success, with franchises in every mall in America in 2010!:woohoo:

Don't be a stranger!!

Ellen

Great trip report!! :cool1: Sad it's done though. Was very happy to meet you and your family in May. Hope we can do it again sometime.

Yes, B.F. Dawgs must spread around the country (north jersey first :thumbsup2) then Ellen and I can taste test together.

A great ending to a great trip. We leave for our yearly trip next Sat. & can't wait. You and your family take care & hope to see you around the boards from time to time.

What a great ending to your trip! That sushi looks AMAZING. Yum!!!

I love that you got your hot dog roller on your Disney vacation. Every day you can use it/look at it and think of the wonderful trip! :thumbsup2

What a great report. Sometimes I forgot we were there the same time. How great you ended picking up the hot dog roller. Onto your next chapter.

Best of luck to you and your family!:thumbsup2

Great report Alan. We were also tired of the rain during that week. We left on Sat to sunny skies and became very upset. It was at that point I looked to my DH and told him we have to go back next year. We are now in the process of planning a short trip in Nov for food and wine but without the kids. Hope to see another PTR soon from Team Renfoe

Sorry Alan I have Laptop Woes and must have missed the final update !!! Don't be a stranger to these boards !! I leave in 17 days for another trip !! There are a few characters going at the same time so watch for some funny reports !!!!

Hey Alan! I just finished reading your whole report in an attempt to get caught up around here. It's been a busy year! I hope your business is doing well and that you are enjoying it. Great report, especially with all the food pics! Take care.
