Team Hakuna Matata; Masters of the Holidays!

Good Morning Team!

Lynn - Glad to hear your knee is doing well!! I've found my PT to be a tremendous help in my running pain free. Got a question for you - what's the best way to protect your face from the cold/wind? I don't really want to wear a ski mask... or is that the only way? It's mostly my cheeks that freeze and then I have a hard time talking afterwards (insert joke).

Vicki - I have to say that since I went to the Physical Therapist, my knees started hurting again, she really was pushing on them, and pushing my range of motion with them. I guess it was just the extra motrin that made them not hurt for 2 days!!! I used sunscreen on my face before I go out into the wind, it does seem to help protect it. It won't keep it warm, but my face will not be as wind burned if I use it.

We don't put up a tree either, with 2 cats and a puppy as well as a lab that likes to gently remove the balls and stomp them, it wouldn't last. Resting Panda:hippie:

We have always just put unbreakable ornaments on the bottom of our tree - we have had cats in the past, and gone thru Christmas with puppies, and Malamute tails can also be very destructive. I have alot of cloth ornaments, and that is where they reside. Don't work too hard this upcoming week!

:wave2: TEAM!

Tis winter in Kazoo...but I am thankful we did not get the lake effect snow this afternoon :goodvibes

Say What - NO Christmas Trees - :confused3 I love the Christmas decorations. I start Thanksgiving Day. 3 huge wreaths on the front of the house, a tree in every room, one on the 10' platform in the entry way, and one in the gazebo. I do have to skip the one in the living room where the little guys play this year but still will have several to stay in the spirit :cloud9:

You beat us with trees, we normally put up 2 trees, a big one in the living room and small one in the bedroom. This year, the big tree is going in the basement (it is 6 feet wide, and I had to move all my living room furniture last year to make it fit - this year, I will put it in the basement, and now that it is finished, there is room for it), and we will buy a new narrow tree to put in the living room. Scott makes Clark Griswold look tame with outdoor lights!
We are trying to get the icicle lights up today, but was too windy earlier, looks like it might have calmed down just a bit - Scott is going out to check. I'm thinking that Thanksgiving weekend might not be condusive to outside lighting, I heard something about a storm coming in, but it was too far away to say how bad it would be. It is at least warmer today!

Have a great day!

Hello team!!!

Way to go Jennifer on the new job!!! :cool1:

I'm talking it easy tonight...if tomorrow still looks like it'll be clear I'm going to try an 18 mile run. It'll be my longest yet.

Wedding plans are going good...just need a cake and to finalize the plans at the golf course for the horderve menu and decorations. He said we can do that a month out so we'll try to make it out next week.

How is everone doing with the snow?? I am dreading every run...I hate the cold and I hate the snow. Please teleport me to Florida?!?!?!

Anyhow...leaving work now..hope everyone is doing well! :grouphug:

:wave2: TEAM!

Connie I forgot to Pm our miles - will do as soon as I finish this post. Hope you are having an okay weekend! :goodvibes

:hippie: We ALL wondered where you were! Sorry about the long hours, the OT pay, and No Hugs from your Sweet princess: But then again we are sure you are smart enough to figure something workable out F-A-S-T :flower1:

Lynn, I never thought to use sunscreen on my face - will try it...Thanks!
I love the Christmas decorations - every room gets decorated. My outside decorations are way simple, 3 lg lighted wreaths - white lights, large Burgundy bows with accent lightening, and the 6 1/2' pencil tree on the shelf above the door in the window, tear drops on the entry lights, but still people stop out in the road to look... I think it is worth the effort and lifts my spirits. :upsidedow

Did some Christmas shopping. Actually I am almost finished. Purchased my little Angel Tree guy a cute outfit - I got assigned the clothes part of the gift - Easy to do as he's 10 years old and a Michigan fan. Still need to find him a 'nice' pair of tennis shoes. No not one thing is wrapped, Connie! :confused3

Oh My Word - sore muscles today from my first lower body workout in about weeks. I had to soak in Epsom salts instead of walking. Good Lesson on not start back with the Full Routine the first time around! :lmao:

Eva, I forgot - When is your wedding, December ? :cloud9:

Good morning Team.

It's another work day for me, but tomorrow I'm going to squeeze in a workout somewhere.

It's 22 degrees here, is it warm anywhere?

Margie did you bathe in icy salt water? I went swimming in the ocean at Cape Cod once and that water was so cold it took your breath. I could not stay but a couple of minutes before I started freezing solid. There were a few people swimming but it was to much for this cold weather wimp.

Congratulations Eva and Jennifer.

Lynn, Erica's zoo is just to much for trying to do a tree.

Have an awesome sunday y'all.

Morning Kids:

Got up and did a 4 Miler in the dark, only one car passed me, and I have my flashies blinkie thingie on my belt.

Wind is calm so we will hit the outside lights this morn,

Temp is now low 30’s and was mid 20’s earlier.

Time for some more coffee and read the paper. I made a nice oriental chicken dish last night and Lynn made some fantastic French Toast this morn.

Enjoy stay warm , be good and have fun.

Hi everyone! I ran my 10K race this morning! It was pretty chilly to begin with and the wind from the lake wasn't much help but I think I warmed up pretty quickly. Parts of course were snowy and icy but I managed - thanks for the heads up Sue! I finished with a chip time of 57:09!! That's my best time so far! I guess I must have really wanted the chili lunch afterward.

Lynn - Thanks for the sunscreen tip! I woke up late this morning and didn't have time to put any on. I will definitely try it the next time I head out. Sorry to hear about the PT and your knees. My PT and I usually do lunges, squats and a whole bunch of core work. He says the core work is suppose to keep me from relying on my knees and back muscles from doing the work.

Scott - You and Lynn are always eating yummy food! But I have to agree with you on the oatmeal and running. I did that a couple of weeks ago myself.

Eva - Sounds like the wedding plans are coming along nicely. How did you make out with the 18 miler! I'd send you some warm weather if we ever get any here.

Dave - It's chilly here too! I think it was 24F this morning. Brr...!!

Margie - Glad to hear that you're almost done your Christmas shopping! I haven't even thought about it yet.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!! Take care :)

Morning Kids,

Too cold out 13 degrees, so TM for a sprint program.

Will put up more Christmas lights later today if thewind cooperates.

Had a nice quiet weekend staying home.

Doing a quick pop in.

Vicky, Congrats. on a great race.

Not quite as cold today. Snow/ rain coming later. Off to the gym tonight.

Have a great day training.....Sue

Good Morning Team!

We did get a few Christmas lights up over the weekend - the icicle lights that completely surround the house - the wind makes it very difficult to be up on a ladder, and for me to keep the strings from blowing around at the base of the ladder! We may try to get a couple of strands up each evening, if it is calm, otherwise, just have to hope that this weekend is calm enough to get the lights up.

Dave - sorry that you cannot put up a tree, hope that you have other options to decorate for Christmas. How about a small tree that can go up on something, that would protect it from the puppy, if not the cats. My cats never tried to climb the tree, they just knocked the ornaments off the bottom branches and batted them around (hence the soft cloth ornaments on the lower protion of the tree!).

I plan to get the dogs out for 6 miles today, we only managed 2 miles over the weekend, I took yesterday off all together, except for my many trips up and down stairs while cleaning out my guest room. Then my leg routine, and Pilates before my major shopping expedition this afternoon! Guess I better get going!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve read your posts and trying to keep up with the team activities. Thursday we go to Mark’s sister for dinner. Friday the kids will be over for Brunch and then Saturday, Mark and I leave for a week in Disney. It will be fun but also sad, this is the first year I could not afford to pay to have the kids come with us. But they are coming for the ½ and my budget only goes so far.

Dave read your post about Cape Cod. The Atlantic here further north is even more chilly. It does take quite a while to get used to the frigid water and blue feet but we do go in now and then. What a treat when Mark and I went to Castaway Cay.

Connie and Lynn, hope your on the mend. Lynn, I know what you mean about the extra pain from PT. The first night I started PT, my neck woke me from a deep sleep and I was frozen in pain. I tried to work it out on my own but ended up taking the meds. Once those muscles knew who was in charge, they settled down and let me work them.

It’s darn cold here, the temp is not too bad but the wind chill WOW – like Scott & Lynn is just terrible. We plan on getting a lot of miles in next week in WDW, both power walking and regular walking.

Tonight I have quilting, tomorrow new hair do so 2 nights of no walking but maybe Weds. and for sure Thursday. Told Mark I’d show him our new route, but it’s over a bridge and he’s not too keen on heights, thought he’d be ok if it was in the dark. We’ll see.

Morning Kids, I did get out for a fast 5K this morn, kinda cool, but calm.

Enjoy the day,

Good morning guys.

Denise, Erica and I are going to Gatlinburg to get in as much walking as we can before the Disney Marathon. This hasn't been a good year for LSD, I hope that shorter walks and weight training will be enough for her especially.

I had a nice 5K on the treadmill this morning followed by some pool sprints.

Have a super day y'all.

:wave2: TEAM!

We have snowy - icy road yet today, so if I get any walking miles in it will need to be on the Dreadmill. :confused3

Gym this morning - 12 miles on the bike hope to get back tonight for a workout. :upsidedow

Received an email from Running Skirts - lots of skirts on Sale for 50% off. :cheer2:

Hi I'm on my mini laptop so it will be brief. Had a lot of hair chopped off and styled = very different but a nice change.

It is really cold with wind driven rain, gusts to 60 mph chance of flooding thankfully it's stopped = just in time so I didn't mess ny new do! LOL!!

I think tomorrow will be better at least no rain and a bit warmer.

Have a nice night will post more when on the normal keyboard

Sounds like lots of our princesses are in the deep freeze. Warm thought to all. We have chilly weather but so far no wind rain or snow.

I'm tired guys, not getting a day off for two weeks is tough when your training hard to. I know getting soft, I'll stop whinning.

Everyone have a restful evening.

Gooooodmorrrning Hakuna Matata!!!! :simba:

My 18 miler went good. I hate my new shoes (good thing on got them on eBay for a good deal)!! My ankle was swollen and sore for two days from that run. I have a new paid of Kayano 13 (my fav so far) on the way so those will be my race shoes! Geesh the marathon is just around the corner isn't it? I have a 12 mile LR this week then 20...12...20...taper. :scared1:

Over the weekend I ordered my bouquet and the cake. Our colors are champagne and black with white snowflakes as an accent color. Kinda hard to get things to match that. I got a bouquet of champagne color roses, white orchids and white hydrangeas, stems wrapped in black. The cake is ricotta cassata cake withe champagne colored frosting, white icing dots and black ribbon. Should look pretty sharp!! And it's like a cannoli in a cake...soooo yummy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxZyFNVBRJY

Vicki - Congrats on your race!!! Chili after a cold run sounds good. I might have to make chili for after my first 20 miler!

Dave - I too have been getting burnt out between work home and training. Jordan is a HUGE help when he can be, but he's been traveling for work lately and isn't always home to help. I just can't imaging how I can do this when we have kids. My running might turn to stroller walking. :confused3

Denise - Do you have pics of the new "do"?

Margie - Is the running skirts a special code? Or is it just in their sale section on the page? I don't think I got the email. Oh and yes...I will marry my bestest friend on Dec 31st....which is also my 30th birthday. Best birthday ever!!

Scott/Lynn - Sounds like you have most of us beat with the decorating. We will bring home out tubs of decorations and haul everything out of the attic over the weekend. I bet your tree will look spectacular in the basement!!

Oh and I forgot to mention...we didn't book in enough time to get into ANY on-property hotel. It's my fault for waiting for them to release the "airline employee" rate. By the time they got the rates out it was booked solid!! So we are staying at that big tall Marriott World Center on some of my dad's platinum member points. I stayed there before for a race...it's pretty nice. It's not Disney though! We will rent a car...what time do you guys thing we'll need to leave the hotel the morning of the race??

Yep got up 7 starnds last night 9 to go snow is on the way, then there are the static lawn dudes.

At work trying to get motivated, I think I will brings a report home as I just can not get excited about writing this interview report.

Eva, we will be there early, sleeping in a cardboard box LOL just kidding, but will be early. good thing about a car is ya kinda have your own locker for your stuff, i.e. a cooler with choc milk.

Better get back at it.

Good Morning Team!

Let me see if the system keeps me logged in long enough to post something! Did not get here yesterday - so had to catch up.

Eva - wedding plans sound like they are coming together - you are to be commended for keeping up the runs when you have so much else on your plate!

Denise - yes, post pictures of the new do.

Margie - guess I will have to check out the website!

Dave - hope you are surviving the extra work, at least you get tomorrow off.

Yes, I always come home for PT in pain, but I did manage some running intersperced with my walking the other day without pain, so maybe it is really doing some good!

Have a great day, and a great Turkey Day to all tomorrow!

Good Morning team!

I’m finally on a keyboard that I can zip along. That little lap top is cute and convenient but the keys – YIKES what a pain.

Hope to go out to night for 6 but that depends on Mark since Miranda is wiped from working so much and so is Hope. Thanksgiving in the food industry is craziness and by tomorrow at 5PM they will barely be able to shovel some turkey in.

Dave & Erica – have fun in TN! Some alone time. People can’t imagine that we need alone time but everyone does. Getting away is important. Even though we no longer have children living with us, they call (all the time), looking at household chores waiting to be done, looking at mail coming in, work related issues all are there facing us but a few days away can refresh our minds, enrich our marriage and relax us even in Disneyworld!

We have a lot of issues to take care of before we leave so I’ll sign off. Will check in later and the next couple of days. If some of you are traveling, have a safe trip and geez, don’t fall down on icy steps like I did this morning. Thankfully, I still bounce quite well.

Happy Thanksgiving, TEAM!

The email I received from Running Skirt just says Sale 50% Off :goodvibes

Good workout at the gym last night - hope to get there tonight as it is the last time they will be open until Saturday morning. :confused3

Enjoy the Day of Thanksgiving - Safe Travels for those of you are traveling to share this time with your loved one! :grouphug:
