Oh, my word. :hug: :hug: :hug: all around.

V, I use my mammoths here. ;)

We got home safe and sound. Sorry to hear about all the troubles. We need to do some unpacking, laundry, and such, and a bit of vegging is needed. The trip itself was fine, but I still have to deal with being gone. FIL was very sweet and happy that we were there, so that's good.

Have a good night, all! I don't know that I have much planned tomorrow, but I'm sure there will be some stuff to do!

Good night, all! :grouphug:

What's up gang? OMG is EVERYONE having a bad week at school this week?:confused3 Michael had a terrible day yesterday, but thinking maybe he was just tired. If we don't do much on Sunday then Monday seems to just knock him out and we had a total veggie day on Sunday.

He got into all kinds of trouble at school and at the after-school place yesterday and his behavior pretty much sucked wind at home too...:sad2:

We're closer to normal today. Well, if you can get "normal" at our house anyway...

:hug: to all....

OH - ETA...thanks V for doing that "comparison shopping" today...I'll use that as basis for my argument the next time Tony complains that we never go anywhere other than WDW!!

S'late - so sorry, but I would love to move south and I could teach, um, I would say accounting, but you have that covered. Um, oh I know a class about pugs. Everyone needs that to get through life.

I'm sure you could at least teach a class on shopping, Mo! Ya gotta spend it to save it, right?:confused3

Mammoths - OMG my feet have found heaven. I think they may be travel shoes next month, easy off easy on at airport security and will keep my tootsies warm while heading out for that 7:15 am flight. I am wearing them now, may even sleep in them. I did read somewhere to go up a size and I did, and it's a good thing, definately order up if you get these.

Ok you all have got me convinced...I'm going to treat myself to a pair of mammoths for my birthday!:thumbsup2 What color did ya get Mo?

It's so quiet...
I thought since I'm bored I'd post my plan for DDP before Monday when I can make ADRs.

They look good Dawn!

I just sent this email to a couple planning cronies and realized it might prove valuable info. here, too:

Trying to get out of my WDW rut, I spent some time today exploring and pricing alternatives in the Bahamas and Sanibel Island, FL.

Veeerrry interesting.

A. I'm spoiled by WDW resorts - any old hotel won't do. I want themed pools, nice rooms, lots of meal choices, etc. Funny how the prices at WDW start looking *reasonable* when one starts looking elsewhere... $400/night PLUS $75 resort fees and no fridge?!?!

B. Don't forget to add in air for the Bahamas - ka-ching!

C. It was hugely entertaining to read reviews talking about how crazy-expensive food is at Atlantis in the Bahamas. People freaking about $3 water, $4 bagels and the like. Lucky for me The Mouse already has me thinking those are normal prices!

In the end, my study finds that WDW is still the best value for what we like to do on vacation. Even skipping the parks, we'd do better there!

So much for getting out of a rut. :rolleyes:

We did this too...once. Jim is finally convinced that we spend the least amount of money at WDW!:thumbsup2

Hi Focker's!

First,

Happy Birthday TE!

I will catch up later.
My favorite furbaby, Max, had an emergency surgery today for a herniated disk in his neck. He is at Purdue Veterinarian Hospital. He just got out of surgery a few minutes ago and is stable. They are giving him a 70% chance of total recovery. He could have died due to respiratory complications if we didn't do anything. They don't want us to come and see him for a couple of days because he has to lay absolutely still.
I'm a total wreck. Physically and mentally drained. I've only gotten 1 hour of sleep today. I don't know how you moms of human children do it.
I have some SoCo and I'm just going to vegitate the rest of the night.

:hug: to all!

:hug: :hug: :hug:

Current Temp Update!

-5 and dropping AGAIN!

:scared1:

I have some things multi-quoted but will have to go back and get to them. I am soooooooooooo mad right now and just need to vent.

:hug: OMG, I was just about to post nearly the same thing. About Leo, I mean, not the girlfriend sneak attack. THAT, I don't even have words for. :mad:

But I'm going through something with Leo that sounds a lot like what's happening with Lindsey. He'll be fine for weeks and then it all falls apart. This week is awful so far. He got a Time Out Mon. (the worst level on tehir behavior scale) because he was goofing around. And today he flat-out refused to do a writing assessment on which his grade will be based. So, he'll fail that.

Sometimes I start wondering if he needs medication or something... but it's not a consistent thing. What I'm beginning tot hink is this teacher just doesn't know how to handle an especially stubborn 6yo. She says Leo "chose not to particpate" in the writing assessment. Um, why did he have a CHOICE in the first place?!

I'm also not convinced that the whole behavior level system works for this age. I'm all about natural consequences at home and that seems to work well. If Leo doesn't do what I tell him, he doesn't get to do something he wants to do. He doesn't comprehend the difference between "Awesome", "Super", "Warning" or "Time Out" because they're just words, no action. Seems like a flawed system to me.

:hug: For you both. You got me through the issues with Jimmy...PLEASE let me know if you want to talk about anything:hug:

Now let's talk crocs ladies. Again thanks to S'late's 20 % off, I got 3 new pairs that were delivered today.

adara's - can't wait for the warm weather, they seem so comfy just wearing around the house for a while, so cute, may end up with another pair.

Mickey Beaches, hey they were less then $15 and let's face it they are so comfy walking around the Mutherland.

Gotta spend it to save it!:thumbsup2

Must be the day for school problems because I'm having one too! My problem, however, isn't with our school, but with the school board. Our system is opening a new building in the fall for 5-8th grades. Throughout the entire process, we've been told that the majority of our elementary school will attend the new school. We've had five or six "proposed" maps released for public comment and in every single one of them, our area was being sent to the new school. Today, the School Board released their "final" map and guess what?? Yep, our elementary school is being split between two intermediate schools. Instead of spliting us using the major four-lane highway as a dividing line, they're using a two-lane neighborhood road. So, it's splitting kids up that have grown up being able to ride bikes/walk to each others' houses. It also splits me from my really good friend and the mother of DD4's best friend. I'm just so frustrated that the School Board is once again pandering to the affluent areas of the district and that we're getting the shaft! Don't worry, I've already let them know how I feel about things and most of the other parents in our neighborhood are doing the same thing! The vote isn't until Jan 26 and I'm hoping we can make a difference.
.

Rant away, becasue that just sounds stupid!:headache:

When I first met Lindsey's teacher I knew that she was going to have a run for her money when it came to Lindsey. Her teacher is very nice and gets things done but is very strict. Lindsey is very bossy and tries not only to tell her class mates what to do but the teacher as well. So yeah, I think Lindsey and her teacher butt heads a lot.

:grouphug: Ditto! :grouphug:

I'm just dropping in to say good night. I've had the girls home with me today. They both have low grade fevers at this point. DD11 decided it was time for her to go to bed. It's time for DS6 to start getting ready for bed, and we're trying to convince DD9 that she should as well. I'm starting to have similar symptoms to the girls, so I'm putting myself to bed in the not too distant future.

Oh no! Hope you feel better soon!

The same thing happened to ours a few years ago and Mitch was able to find out how to fix it online, sorry can't remember the web site, google it. But it was a relatively easy fix if you have someone who knows what they're doing. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the heads up and I may have to Google tomorrow and see what I can find. I think ours might be covered under warrenty, the only thing is I need to find the paperwork.

Ooooooo...sounds nice! I may have to try a pair out. :thumbsup2

This year, they get "wows" and "reminders". There are popsicle sticks labeled with each of these terms and when the kids do something great, they get to go grab a "wow stick." Same with bad behavior. They have to get a "reminder stick." At the end of the week, each child with at least 10 wow sticks (minus any reminders) gets a prize from the prize box. My DD7 keeps taking certificates good for eating lunch with her teacher. Can you tell she really likes her teacher this year?? It's been a great year for us.

That sounds like a really great idea! In Lindsey's classroom they do the red/yellow/green card thing and I don't think Lindsey gets that one at all.

We got home safe and sound.

Glad you got home safely CE!

Kristel - I thought I had quoted you but I must not have, but HUGE :hug: for you and Max!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks everyone for the hugs and letting me vent. I don't know what I'm more upset about Lindsey's behavior or the rude behavior of his girlfriend. What makes me so mad is that I apologized to him for yelling in his ear (and of course for leaving a not so nice message once I got over the shock of it all) but not one apology was given to me by him or the girlfriend. :sad2: And when I asked he said they didn't have to because they were basically right. :sad2:
So, hopefully tomorrow will be better for Linds and we'll see what the doctor has to say on Thursday.
We are already on a 2 hour delay due to snow and cold temps so YAY on the sleeping in. :)
:grouphug: Thanks again everyone! And :grouphug: to all us mamas who are dealing with their kiddos and school.
Mo- I saw your question about tea was just answered by Erin. :rolleyes: It's the first question that pops up on the site. ;)
I'm sorry I found that funny :rotfl2:
Very good Janet, I love the fact that you didn't get me doing the chicken dance unlike other people :rolleyes1
OMG you so need a :hug:
Well it's 10am here and I haven't done anything, you know when you say oh I'll just check my e-mails :rolleyes1 I have answered a couple of questions though :thumbsup2 I need to go and paint some more of the kitchen ceiling!
Warning! Warning! Crocs.com (or should I say cracks.com) is having another sale! You're welcome. ;)
Hey, all!
Sending out many wishes for a better day for everyone. :goodvibes
Jo, thanks for the tip! :)
********************************************
D & I watched some TV, catching up, and went to bed at a reasonable hour. Still, no one wanted to wake up this morning. :rotfl: We got the kids off to school and I went to retrieve the dog from the kennel. D is heading into the office.
I need to do laundry, really finally clean up from after Christmas - the decorations are all gone, but there are still little stacks of new toys and so forth that need homes. Plus I need groceries. But I feel like taking a nap. I finally feel slightly better, but traveling whilst feeling bad really sapped me.
Well... I have TRs to catch up on, but that might be later. I think I'm heading to start some laundry, so that I feel like I've at least accomplished SOMETHING, and then I might nap a bit, then shower and go to the grocery store. I'll check back.
:grouphug:
Hi everyone, :hug: to everyone who needs it.
I've read everything but no energy to quote...sorry.
This cold/upper resp. thing is killing me. I can't breathe through my nose and the coughing hurts. :sick:
I cancelled lunch with one of my bff's today, since I feel so bad. AND it's scary scary cold outside.
You guys have a great day. I'm off to the couch with my kleenex and chamomile tea.
MEL:goodvibes
Good Morning all. Thanks for the compliments on the video. Jim did it, so I will let him know you liked it!
Slate, thanks for being everyone's pusher:lmao:
Not much going on here. It is cold and just going to get colder.:sad2:
Back at work and busy as all get out. Will check back later!:goodvibes
What's up gang? OMG is EVERYONE having a bad week at school this week?:confused3
Apparently - WTH is going on?!?! :hug: to you and your guy.
OH - ETA...thanks V for doing that "comparison shopping" today...I'll use that as basis for my argument the next time Tony complains that we never go anywhere other than WDW!!
Dude, I sat there for 2 hours last night trying to rationalize a trip to Atlantis... just couldn't do it. :sad2:
We got home safe and sound.
Yay!
:hug: For you both. You got me through the issues with Jimmy...PLEASE let me know if you want to talk about anything:hug:
Thanks Janet - it really helps having other parents and teachers to bounce stuff off! :hug:
Hmmm, this sounds strangely familiar! Hang in there. :hug:
UGH, get better Mel! :hug:
*****************************************************
Morning all! I'm hoping for a MUCH better day today with Leo... but it's off to a rocky start for me. They just announced budget cuts for next fiscal year and it's BAD. Like minimum 20% across the board bad. I should be fairly safe as the most tenured employee in my dept.... assuming my dept. isn't eliminated. Then, all bets would be off. :worried:
Us too V. My only hope is that I don't think I will have to worry about them closing the Probation Department. However, they are not letting us order any supplies and anyone who leaves is not being replaced.:sad2:
Make yourself smile...did you go back and look at the FOckerfest video:thumbsup2
Good morning. :goodvibes We're about to start school, but I just wanted to say "hi" before we do. :teacher:
I hope everyone has a better day today and that Mel feels better soon. :grouphug:
Morning Fockers!
I just got back from taking Lindsey to school and am trying to thaw out. It's COLD out there and only going to get worse! YUCK!
Mel - I hope you start feeling better soon!
V - That stinks about work. I'm in the process of looking for a job but there is not much in our area. I'm not in dire need of one but it would be nice to have something for just me. :hug:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So I just took Linds to school. DR has preschool this afternoon. Once I drop him off then I have to volunteer in Lindsey's classroom. I need to get the dishwasher loaded and some things around the house picked up. Here's to hoping Lindsey will have a better day today!

:grouphug: Hope everyone has a good day today!

Morning all!

Well, I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with a neighbor who wanted to complain about the redistricting thing. I'm on the PTO board at our school and so I get a bunch of these types of call. I spent so much time with her on the phone (in the lobby of DD4's preschool) that I couldn't make it to my Bible Study on time. Plus, it's snowing really hard here, so I decided to just come home. I called the leader of our study and she said that only four people are there and two of them live in her neighborhood, so they didn't even have to drive far. So, it looks like we won't be starting the study until next week. At least I didn't miss anything....:thumbsup2

Not sure what I'm going to do today. It's snowing quite a bit out there and I just want to go back to bed. We're supposed to get the frigid below zero temps starting tomorrow as well, so I guess I should probably get the shoveling done this afternoon. That may just count for my workout today.

I hope everyone's Wednesday will be better than everyone's Tuesday.
