Did I miss V is coming to Buffalo!!! Let me know when !! I am only 20 miles away!!If it's true you better put on your winter woolies they are foecasting record cold temps !!
Yep, I'm coming, but just for a short trip and it's jam-packed so no time for DIS meets, I'm afraid. :guilty: And I have every cashmere and/or down item I own ready to go, lol!

He's bummed because he can't snowboard this week! :scared1: Really, he'd probably freeze solid in under 5 minutes!
See, nothing stops in Buff. We did lots of skiing in 0 or below! It hurt, FYI. And we were idiots. :rolleyes:

Seriously it is now -4. Unbelievable! Why do I live here? Why didn't I plan to be in WDW this week? :eek:
We need to move you SOUTH my friend!

Speaking of...

I just sent this email to a couple planning cronies and realized it might prove valuable info. here, too:

Trying to get out of my WDW rut, I spent some time today exploring and pricing alternatives in the Bahamas and Sanibel Island, FL.

Veeerrry interesting.

A. I'm spoiled by WDW resorts - any old hotel won't do. I want themed pools, nice rooms, lots of meal choices, etc. Funny how the prices at WDW start looking *reasonable* when one starts looking elsewhere... $400/night PLUS $75 resort fees and no fridge?!?!

B. Don't forget to add in air for the Bahamas - ka-ching!

C. It was hugely entertaining to read reviews talking about how crazy-expensive food is at Atlantis in the Bahamas. People freaking about $3 water, $4 bagels and the like. Lucky for me The Mouse already has me thinking those are normal prices!

In the end, my study finds that WDW is still the best value for what we like to do on vacation. Even skipping the parks, we'd do better there!

So much for getting out of a rut. :rolleyes:

V: That perfectly explains why we end up at WDW so much! We do take other vacations (occasionally ;) ) but we always compare to WDW!!

We're ruined. It's all Mickey's fault!

Hi Focker's!

First,

Happy Birthday TE!

I will catch up later.
My favorite furbaby, Max, had an emergency surgery today for a herniated disk in his neck. He is at Purdue Veterinarian Hospital. He just got out of surgery a few minutes ago and is stable. They are giving him a 70% chance of total recovery. He could have died due to respiratory complications if we didn't do anything. They don't want us to come and see him for a couple of days because he has to lay absolutely still.
I'm a total wreck. Physically and mentally drained. I've only gotten 1 hour of sleep today. I don't know how you moms of human children do it.
I have some SoCo and I'm just going to vegitate the rest of the night.

:hug: to all!

Oh and I know you will all send good thoughts and prayers because you are good people. Thank You, in advance!:love:

Dilemma for the day.....

Ex-boyfriend requests on FB. Haven't talked to this one since 11th grade. BUT....I don't think Bob would like it. How are you guys handling this one?

MEL:confused3
I am "hidden" so to speak. I have some ex's I don't want seeing me bc I've gained so much weight. If I were skinny, it would be a different story.:rotfl2:
Apparently, Jon's teacher told him the world was ending in 2012.
That's terrible.
I've got a conference call in 1.5 hours, they're so weird as you're not sure who's talking and whether you should :rotfl2: OMG can you imagine us lot on a conference call? :rotfl:
Confusing!

I have some things multi-quoted but will have to go back and get to them. I am soooooooooooo mad right now and just need to vent.

Lindsey had a really bad day in school this afternoon. She's been having behavior problems since the begining of the year. A couple times a month they are nothing major but about once to twice a month they are major deals. Her teacher and I have put her on a daily behavior chart. If she gets so many stickers in the day then she gets computer time. If less or a yellow card she goes to bed early and has the computer time taken away from her.

But this afternoon I guess was the worst and the principal called me at home. Apparently they are having a movie day on Thursday in school and we agreed that Lindsey's has been taken away from her. Plus then here at home she had computer time taken away for tonight and a shopping trip/spend the night that she was going to be having with our babysitter taken away from her.

I'm getting to the point though that this can not conitune and I feel that something is wrong with her or bothering her. I don't know if its an ADHD/ADD type thing or if she is seeking attention and needs to go see a councelor. Lindsey goes to the peds on Thursday for her 6 year appointment and I plan on talking with her then.

But, I called the ex to let him know that the principal called me and that this has gotten out of control with Lindsey and that something needs to be done. I had to leave a message since he is at work. I had things to do today and called him back once I got home and he answered the phone. I was on the phone with him for less than 5 minutes and noticed Lindsey was climbing on some furniture and yelled at her to get down. I wasn't in the same room as her and of course I'm sure it sounded really bad on his end. He was in the middle of a sentence and I of course interupted him by yelling at her.

Next thing I know I hear the girlfriend screaming into the phone, 'Shut the F**K up B***H. He's trying to talk.'

I litterally just stood there in shock with my mouth hanging open. He or she must have hung up on me or if they didn't I hung up on them because I was too speecheless to say anything.

I don't even know what to say to this. All I know is that I'm furious. I guess the only thing I can do is take Lindsey to the peds, get her advice and use my mommy insticts, and then just tell him to either back me up or get off the program. I shouldn't have to be treated that way by someone who isn't even a parent to my children.

I called and appologized to him for yelling in his year but I highly doubt I will get anything from him or her.

Thanks for letting me vent everyone. I gotta get my kids their dinner and spend some time with them before bed.

The Mouse has you right where he wants you.
Doesn't he though? :headache:

My favorite furbaby, Max, had an emergency surgery today for a herniated disk in his neck.
I'm so sorry - hang in there! :hug:

I am soooooooooooo mad right now and just need to vent.
:hug: OMG, I was just about to post nearly the same thing. About Leo, I mean, not the girlfriend sneak attack. THAT, I don't even have words for. :mad:

But I'm going through something with Leo that sounds a lot like what's happening with Lindsey. He'll be fine for weeks and then it all falls apart. This week is awful so far. He got a Time Out Mon. (the worst level on tehir behavior scale) because he was goofing around. And today he flat-out refused to do a writing assessment on which his grade will be based. So, he'll fail that.

Sometimes I start wondering if he needs medication or something... but it's not a consistent thing. What I'm beginning tot hink is this teacher just doesn't know how to handle an especially stubborn 6yo. She says Leo "chose not to particpate" in the writing assessment. Um, why did he have a CHOICE in the first place?!

I'm also not convinced that the whole behavior level system works for this age. I'm all about natural consequences at home and that seems to work well. If Leo doesn't do what I tell him, he doesn't get to do something he wants to do. He doesn't comprehend the difference between "Awesome", "Super", "Warning" or "Time Out" because they're just words, no action. Seems like a flawed system to me.

~sigh~

This parenting stuff sucks sometimes.

:grouphug: Hugs to all of you who need them right now. :guilty: :grouphug:

:grouphug: Ditto! :grouphug:

I'm just dropping in to say good night. I've had the girls home with me today. They both have low grade fevers at this point. DD11 decided it was time for her to go to bed. It's time for DS6 to start getting ready for bed, and we're trying to convince DD9 that she should as well. I'm starting to have similar symptoms to the girls, so I'm putting myself to bed in the not too distant future.

Our washer broke last night. I think it might have something to do with the spin cycle.

The same thing happened to ours a few years ago and Mitch was able to find out how to fix it online, sorry can't remember the web site, google it. But it was a relatively easy fix if you have someone who knows what they're doing. :thumbsup2

My favorite furbaby, Max, had an emergency surgery today for a herniated disk in his neck.

OMG :hug: I certainly will be thinking about you and him! :goodvibes

It was a full moon the other day, but :hug: to everyone with kiddo issues.

Wow lots of hugs needed here tonight:hug: :hug: :hug: :hug:

S'late - so sorry, but I would love to move south and I could teach, um, I would say accounting, but you have that covered. Um, oh I know a class about pugs. Everyone needs that to get through life.

is that house across the street still for sale, all the Fockers could move in there:lmao: Would the neighbors mind a lime green house?

Kristel - :hug:

Lori - :hug:

SO we are getting the frigid temps here too, not looking forward to going out with the pugs!!!!!:mad:

Now let's talk crocs ladies. Again thanks to S'late's 20 % off, I got 3 new pairs that were delivered today.

adara's - can't wait for the warm weather, they seem so comfy just wearing around the house for a while, so cute, may end up with another pair.

Mickey Beaches, hey they were less then $15 and let's face it they are so comfy walking around the Mutherland.

Mammoths - OMG my feet have found heaven. I think they may be travel shoes next month, easy off easy on at airport security and will keep my tootsies warm while heading out for that 7:15 am flight. I am wearing them now, may even sleep in them. I did read somewhere to go up a size and I did, and it's a good thing, definately order up if you get these.

Oh, Kristel. I'm so sorry honey! I know exactly how you feel! My puppy even has the same name. I know that I would do just about anything for my Max. In fact, I've been waiting all day for the vet to call with our test results, but I guess those will be coming tomorrow. At least you're so close to Purdue, which has such a wonderful Vet program. I will definitely be praying for Max and for you and Doug too!

I agree, V. My DD7 is in second grade and she's had three different systems in her three years. In kindergarten, they did the stoplight system (green, yellow, red). Each kid had a clothespin and had to move it off of green if they misbehaved too much. I liked it because it was tangible and visible. The teacher would give them one "friendly reminder" to discontinue the behavior and if it continued, they'd move to yellow and also lose some of their recess time. They would also have to take a yellow slip of paper home. A few kids in DD's class went to yellow, but I'm positive no one ever made it to red.

In first grade, the teacher didn't like the stoplight system. She explained on Meet the Teacher night that she liked using natural consequences. I'm not sure how that works in a classroom setting and it ended up being very arbitrary. She would take recess time away from kids, but not on a consistent basis. No wonder my DD bit her nails down to stubs during first grade.

This year, they get "wows" and "reminders". There are popsicle sticks labeled with each of these terms and when the kids do something great, they get to go grab a "wow stick." Same with bad behavior. They have to get a "reminder stick." At the end of the week, each child with at least 10 wow sticks (minus any reminders) gets a prize from the prize box. My DD7 keeps taking certificates good for eating lunch with her teacher. Can you tell she really likes her teacher this year?? It's been a great year for us.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Must be the day for school problems because I'm having one too! My problem, however, isn't with our school, but with the school board. Our system is opening a new building in the fall for 5-8th grades. Throughout the entire process, we've been told that the majority of our elementary school will attend the new school. We've had five or six "proposed" maps released for public comment and in every single one of them, our area was being sent to the new school. Today, the School Board released their "final" map and guess what?? Yep, our elementary school is being split between two intermediate schools. Instead of spliting us using the major four-lane highway as a dividing line, they're using a two-lane neighborhood road. So, it's splitting kids up that have grown up being able to ride bikes/walk to each others' houses. It also splits me from my really good friend and the mother of DD4's best friend. I'm just so frustrated that the School Board is once again pandering to the affluent areas of the district and that we're getting the shaft! Don't worry, I've already let them know how I feel about things and most of the other parents in our neighborhood are doing the same thing! The vote isn't until Jan 26 and I'm hoping we can make a difference.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but I needed to get that off my chest too! :snooty:
So, who's ready for American Idol to start tonight??? I'm doing double DVR duty tonight .... American Idol, Biggest Loser, IU Basketball...
ITA, Mo! I got some Mammoths for Christmas and I've barely taken them off since! I go to the grocery in them and everything! Not only are they comfortable, but also warm. What color did you get? My girls got pink and I got khaki. DH got brown. We all love them!:banana:
Good lord - what week for us all and it's not even Wed. yet!
Jodi, that just plain sucks about the re-zoning. It's going to be bad around here soon - we're going from a choice system to a closest to home system and all the kids who were promised they'd be grandfathered in and wouldn't have to move... well, the board changed its collective mind and no more grandfathering. I have no idea where Leo might wind up next year. :headache:
Mr. T - feel better!
Mo - I love, love, love, love my Mammoths! The only footwear that keeps my toes warm, but I'm guessing they'll do no good in the buckets of snow in Buff.
