what the heck is a caprine? Is that Hokie talk?

NCLB Drives Jim crazy. With the new Math cirriculuum they have to use (Becasue of NCLB) it literally states on Monday you teach this, Tuesday you teach that, etc and gives NO Opportunity for review or refresh for those kids that don't get it the first time!:sad2:
:eek: And then they wonder why the kids are slipping through! There is NO logic to this.

Don't blame your self Slate. You are doinf everything you can do, it sounds to me that the school isn't very supportive:headache:

I think that your son will see all of the things you are trying to do for him...and on the off chance that he did hear something that upset him, your actions since then have proven that you are there to help. I know I've made the offer before, as has Dawn, but if you ever want a first hand account of home schooling, feel free to ask.
:hug:

No--o-o! Hokie is a TURKEY!

Caprine=goat
Feline=cat
Equine=horse
Canine=dog

:teacher:

Ok.......that's lesson #1........where's my check?

I knew the last 3, and I thought a Hokie was the carpet sweeper thingy that restaurants use. ;)

I can only afford to pay with LGMH's. (been unemployed for 3 months, ya know) They will be mailed ASAP. :rotfl2:

Thank you!

Did I miss V is coming to Buffalo!!! Let me know when !! I am only 20 miles away!!If it's true you better put on your winter woolies they are foecasting record cold temps !!

/
Well, I'm home from getting SD. It has gotten SOOOOOO cold since this morning! It's down to 15 and the wind is howling! I hope they cancel school tomorrow! I cannot imagine what it will feel like when it's BELOW 0 and the wind is blowing like that!

I have a 35 min. break until I go to pick up Gus. He's bummed because he can't snowboard this week! :scared1: Really, he'd probably freeze solid in under 5 minutes! I promised him that there is MORE winter, he'll get his chance. :rotfl2:

So far my tummy is feeling a bit better. I've had two pieces of toast and some ginger ale. I am planning on having some hot tea as soon as I'm done picking up kids. Then I can put my pjs back on! (I hate having to get dressed, LOL)

Dinner tonight will be leftovers and frozen stuff. SD very graciously agreed to handle reheating/microwaving for me since I feel so carpy. :love: And we are going to watch the SEASON PREMIERE OF AMERICAN IDOL!

Hope you guys are having a good day! Glad you liked your Bday wishes, TE!

MEL

It was -21 on my way to school this AM!:scared: If they close your schools at 15, I would be amazed, Mel.

Seriously it is now -4. Unbelievable! Why do I live here? Why didn't I plan to be in WDW this week? :eek:

I am laying in bed with a blanket and freezing cold as I type. Yucky!

Now I have to go catch up!

Mel...:hug: darlin.

TE...a very merry birthday to you...to you!

And S'late...remember this. You have more rights as that child's parent then that school does. I'm not saying that to be cute or coy...but it's the truth. An e-mail is fine, if you make sure to cc to the higher ups, so to speak. Make sure the principal is in the know as well. That teacher's behavior was unacceptable. Don't feel bad about being an advocate for your kid. Ever.

If you need anything...I'm here babe.

Fisrt of all, vent my dear. Bottling isn't good for you.
Ditto!
Second, :hug: :hug: :hug: This is exactly my fear and concern with public schools; with No Child Left Behind, everyone's so comepltely focused on meeting goals to get funding that there's no room for individualized learning, which a whole lot of kids need.

Double ditto!

You tell them V!

:hug: Slate!

Jen- Where do I find how you got a shiner?:scared:

A few pages back. Girl fight between the students. Stupid me thinks I'm 6'0".

S'late- I feel for you. That teacher was so out of line. The problem is, that even if you complain, will she teach him kindly or will this be a struggle for the rest of the year? It sounds like it's worth it to fight to get him into the other class with his sister. How much learning is he actually getting with this drama going on? I would be concerned about him getting behind if the teacher's not working with him. Then what? They want to hold him back or he struggles and that makes him feel worse. They need to help you get a satisfactory solution ASAP.

Like Kate said, I'll answer any questions you have if you ever want to talk about home schooling. In 1st grade, you'd probably only spend 1.5-2 hours a day working with him and you'll see results because you can tailor the work to where he is and what he needs.

JenJen- Dang! I'm never going to MN!!! :scared1: We're cold when it's 40 here! :rolleyes:

Mel- Take it easy, girlie! :hug:

V- I agree about the schools caring more about funding than the kids getting what they need.

Jen- Boring is good. :thumbsup2

:eek: :scared1: :eek: YUCK! And to think I had to force myself to go to the store because it's 44 and rainy. I have some nerve complaining.

I hope everyone stays warm :goodvibes

Mo- I saw your question about tea was just answered by Erin. :rolleyes: It's the first question that pops up on the site. ;)

thanks for everyone's love today. I'm still waiting for the principal to call me back.
