Pool progress is almost at an end! :thumbsup2 I'm told we should be swimming by this weekend. Who wants to join me? :rolleyes1 At least we don't have snow. :goodvibes

I've been researching military spouse blogs. I have no reason to complain. :guilty:

My company comes soon so I've been Hoovering too. Even with my nice vacuum, it's not much fun. ;)

IT'S SHAMROCK SHAKE TIME!!!!!

Did someone say shamrock shake! i love those!:cloud9: I know where im going after lab today. :thumbsup2

Still feeling like crap, but have to leave for class soon. I missed the first class because i really want to shower and i need to make a stop at the store first. The good part is that today we get to chase ducks! :rotfl: Its trapping/banding day in lab today. :thumbsup2 Im so excited! And in the spring time im taking a whole class on field methods, so there should be plenty more banding.

Everyone have a great hump day!

This week at school they're doing a "Fitness Fundraiser" which just involves an extra "fun" PE session with people donating some money. But they do "stations" in the gym, so they need volunteers to run the stations. I had hoped to avoid it this year, but I got a "please help, we're desperate" message last night, so I'm going in for 2 hours today. Sadly, it's third grade, so I won't see my kids, but oh, well. 2nd grade is Friday, and I don't want to go then!
Wow CE you are super volunteer Mom :thumbsup2

You should become a politician:lmao:
Would you vote for me? :rotfl2: Wait, your politics is so weird I'd never know what was going on :rotfl2: BTW if someone is running for senator is that high up? It's just I know someone who is :snooty::rotfl:

So the beotch in the office called and tried yelling at me but in the end she played nice because she doesn't want me freaking out any more neighbors.
:thumbsup2

Does anyone mind if i become the new keeper of the birthday lists? I feel like i never know when one is coming and since Katt was the list keeper, maybe I can do it now?!?!
Go for it, I think I had the list at some point but since we all joined FB I've gotten lazy as I post it there instead :rotfl2:

My name is Lorrie, my mom spelled it like that so I wouldn't get a nickname and all my brothers call me Sis.
Okie dokie :thumbsup2

We were woken up this morning by lots of beeping and what sounded like shoveling outside our window. I look out and a little Bobcat is scooping up snow in between mine and the neighbor's car and then dumping it over the hill. I'm not complaing...makes it easier to get my car out. Wish they would could have done our drive way though.
Glad it's not the pox and WTH is a bobcat?

kat---yes you can be the birthday list keeper! We probably need to update--I'll be first!

Jan 13
As if we didn't know :rolleyes1:rotfl2: and as someone else said 16 days?????

Jo - Don't you have McDonald's there? A Shamrock Shake is a special shake McD's puts out around St. Patrick's Day only. It's a mint flavored shake and I just love them. I get so excited every year when they come out, because they're only available for a short time.
Of course we have them but we don't celebrate St Patricks day even though we're incredibly close to Ireland :rotfl2:

UK definately has McD's, I ate at the one near Piccadilly (now there's a funny word, and Jo Piccadilly is in London;))

I guess further evidence of Jo's non Britishness;)
Whatever :snooty::rotfl2:

Pool progress is almost at an end! :thumbsup2 I'm told we should be swimming by this weekend. Who wants to join me? At least we don't have snow. :goodvibes
Me, me, me :rotfl2: And don't upset yourself reading blogs

The good part is that today we get to chase ducks! :rotfl: Its trapping/banding day in lab today. :thumbsup2 Im so excited! And in the spring time im taking a whole class on field methods, so there should be plenty more banding.
Sounds fun :goodvibes

We're all feeling a bit better and when I spoke to my Nan she said she has a cold anyway but I still don't want to give ours to her, if I still feel ill tomorrow I'll wave at her through her window :rotfl2:

Kids are home from school today but it's looking like tomorrow will be a go. :thumbsup2 Please, please, PLEASE let it be a go! Even if they do have a 2 hour delay.:rotfl2:

Hope it works out! Good luck with the t-ball decision.

I'm snowed in.....Daran's supposed to fly back from Ohio today but we'll see--tons of snow here.....day 16 of no school....

Makes my two days look darn good. Sorry.

CE - I think I'm going to try that Poppy Chicken... sounds good, but do you think I could substitute Ritz crackers for bread crumbs?

I don't see why not. I've made it sometimes without anything if I'm out, but it's better with. ;) I'm sure bread crumbs would be fine. :goodvibes

Back to work, later Fockers

Hi, Mo, bye, Mo! :wave2:

Pool progress is almost at an end! :thumbsup2 I'm told we should be swimming by this weekend. Who wants to join me? :rolleyes1 At least we don't have snow. :goodvibes

I've been researching military spouse blogs. I have no reason to complain. :guilty:

Glad the pool's almost done, and as Jo said, don't get yourself upset. You're still allowed to be worried and all.

And in the spring time im taking a whole class on field methods, so there should be plenty more banding.

Everyone have a great hump day!

Sounds like fun - you, too! :)

BTW if someone is running for senator is that high up? It's just I know someone who is :snooty::rotfl:

Yes, it is! Who?

We're all feeling a bit better and when I spoke to my Nan she said she has a cold anyway but I still don't want to give ours to her, if I still feel ill tomorrow I'll wave at her through her window :rotfl2:

Sounds like a nice plan! ;)

*************************************************
Speaking of Nans (and yes, that's what I call my mum's mum, too!) I got a pretty bad message about mine from my mom, but between me volunteering today and mom subbing in IL, I've not gotten a chance to talk to her about it. Nan has apparently gotten to the point where she can't even swallow Jello. :( She has an enormous hietal (sp?) hernia - basically a big blockage in her throat - and nothing much is going down. She's lost like 30 pounds in 4 months. Anyway, they did some x-rays and a barium test last week, and got the news yesterday that her only options are surgery, which she likely wouldn't survive (she's on oxygen full-time, etc.) or a feeding tube, which her initial reaction to was "No way." :( I understand, but that more or less means she has to decide if she's ready to more or less waste away. Sigh.

Their concerns about doing a feeding tube - besides her not wanting it - are that she also has some mental stuff - paranoid depression and reclusivity, if you will. So they're afraid that she'll really regress in the home if she doesn't have to go to meals and stuff, and she'd be terribly self-conscious. Also, she has been working pretty hard on her PT/OT because she was still wanting to "go home" but there is truly no way now that she'll ever get to.

Her quality of life has been better in the home, but it's not great. I hate this for her, but hate it even more for my mother. :sad2:

Sorry, that was a downer. :grouphug:

Volunteering was fun - I was on scooter duty - and then I hit up the grocery for a few things. I haven't gotten my list together for Maine, but I did pick up a few things that I need to take up there.

Janet, we're skiing in Maine with Deb & her family, plus another family - we went last year. We rent a house, which is great, but we have to not only take clothes, but food for 6 days, too. It's crazy. Each of us is doing 2 night meals, and more or less are in charge of our own lunches and breakfasts. We may eat at the hill for lunch a time or two, but...

It could be... Buzz has actually been diagnosed with basically 'seasonal' eczema. It never shows up in the summer, but the colder and drier it gets, the more it shows up. Good luck!
Jimmy too. What do use on him?
Alec has the same. Almost always in the winter. We do have an Rx for him. It is so bad! :guilty:

In case you missed my FB post....

IT'S SHAMROCK SHAKE TIME!!!!!
:banana::banana::yay::yay::dance3::dance3::cheer2::cheer2:
I tried to miss it!

YeahGood luck! I don't think I mentioned that my FIL called Saturday - they are no longer coming for the birthdays in April because he and step-MIL are working for the census. I don't know what they're doing for it, but... :thumbsup2 (For them getting hired, and, frankly, that they're not coming.) :rotfl2: We thought we'd probably rather go to their house anyway, but they said not to do that either, as they'd be working.
As long as it works out how you want it! ;)

OK you're ALL my ABFF's OK? :rotfl2:

Well we haven't gone up to Mum's today, I'm still bunged up and Ellie is coughing, the girls aren't happy though but what can you do? We did nip to the supermarket as we needed food for tonight and I managed to get conned into buying packets of candy for the journey :rotfl2: Luckily they were 3 bags for £3 so I had to get some too :rotfl:
I'll accept that we're all your ABFFs, but I know I'm still your favourite.

Does anyone mind if i become the new keeper of the birthday lists? I feel like i never know when one is coming and since Katt was the list keeper, maybe I can do it now?!?!
What happened to Katt?

A YEAR?? really???
Really really.

Sorry, that was a downer. :grouphug:
I'm sorry CE. We went through a bad hump with my Babuskha (grandma) last summer with her being diagnosed with a colon tumor. Surgery went through okay, and now she has a colostomy, but she's getting weaker and weaker. My grandma CA had passed from colon cancer, and this is very worrisome. :sad1:

Rob and I have a date night finally. Well, strike that. It's really a date "afternoon" :lmao: We're going to see "Shutter Island" as a matinee this Friday and out to dinner at a great Italian place called Santangelo's. My parents are watching the kids. I can't wait, as I can't even remember the last time I saw an R-rated film out. The closest we came was seeing the new "Star Trek" but we brought the boys.

Yes, it is! Who?
The husband of one of my Moms Panel friends, I spent quite a lot of time chatting with him in September and he is the nicest person ever :thumbsup2

Her quality of life has been better in the home, but it's not great. I hate this for her, but hate it even more for my mother. :sad2:
I'm so sorry CE, how old is she? And as you say it's tough on the people around her

I'll accept that we're all your ABFFs, but I know I'm still your favourite.
Of course :rotfl2: and hope your Grandmother is OK too

Most of us can't figure it out either.....

Yes, senator is pretty high---only 2 per state so 100 overall and they have 7 year terms so if you don't like them, you're stuck.
What state?

Ab is excited about seeing it too. She just finished the book and said it was good although not as scary as she thought it would be. :confused3

CE---regarding tube feeding--it's a difficult decision but here's my professional 2 cents--
there are several options for folks like her--I would recommend a PEG tube that is a small tube in the stomach--not visible from the outside. She can have either "bolus" feedings where she pours a can in it several times a day....or night time feedings---just hook up to a pump at night cut it off during the day. The 2nd works great for busier people but both can handle any schedule. I like the night time feeding in my nursing home so they can do therapy in the day time. I've had quite a few get their strength back and either be able to have surgery to correct their problem or go home and lead a relatively normal life.

Ask me any ?s---I deal with this on a daily basis!

Mississippi is that spelt right? :rotfl2:

M-I-crooked letter crooked letter-I-crooked letter crooked letter-I- hump back hump back- I

yep--you're right! that's the way we learned to spell it!

Hey---I was on the US site for Disneyland Paris---it DOES NOT WORK! I can't even find out the price of tickets. Mousesavers says they do not cater to US and Canadians--mainly to UK. If you can find the UK site, can you tell me how much a one day pass is??

See if you can access this - http://offers.disneylandparis.co.uk/tickets/index.xhtml It says a 1 day ticket is £45 which is roughly $75 so pretty much the same as WDW

BTW humpback, humpback :rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl:

:thumbsup2yep! That works! I sent them an email saying that their US site had bad links and they said:

We kindly inform you that currently we are unable to reply to this query via email, however, we can be contacted directly via telephone on 08448 008 898 (national call rate).

Ha! Like I'm going to make an international call to tell them their website doesn't work! Is there a mom's panel over this park or are they on their own??

Daran's plane made it to Charlotte---let's see if the next one can make it here....snowing hard

We left a note under the doors of the neighbors next to and above us just saying we have these bugs and they need to be checked since they share a wall with me. they freaked and called the company this morning. Progress!!!

Whatever it takes!

Does anyone mind if i become the new keeper of the birthday lists? I feel like i never know when one is coming and since Katt was the list keeper, maybe I can do it now?!?!

I thought Jo was the birthday keeper:confused3 But it is fine with me...mine is June 21st!

. He doesn't get into the courts as often as he used to because he transports the prisoners.

I don't either. I am the supervisor of the Parole Unit.

I work harder now than I did when I worked. :rotfl2:

I know alot of retired people who say the same thing:sad2:

Kids are home from school today but it's looking like tomorrow will be a go. :thumbsup2 Please, please, PLEASE let it be a go! Even if they do have a 2 hour delay.:rotfl2:

I said the same thing on Monday. I was sick of Jimmy being home, and he was bored too!

need to go sign the kids up for T-ball tonight at the community center. DR can actually play this year and he's excited. I don't know if I want to do T-ball for Lindsey or have her do softball. Last year they would pitch to the kids before they hit it off the Tee and Linds did really well, but I think it would be different with softball and a little more competitive. We'll see what happens when I get there and what they suggest. [/QUOTE}

Jimmy is playing coaches pitch this year. A little fater than T Ball and actually starts to teach them position, etc.

I'm snowed in.....Daran's supposed to fly back from Ohio today but we'll see--tons of snow here.....day 16 of no school....

HOLY CARP! Do you have to make all those days up?

It's a quiet day for me...but I've got loads of stuff I could do, but don't want to do. Our office is a mess and I need to get organized before this weekend. The bedrooms could use some hoovering and I the bathrooms need a quick cleaning...but I don't want to!

Oh just take a break and do nothing today! ::yes::

T - remind me to tell you a Shamrock shake story from my college days on St Pat's day. McD's was across the street from an Irish bar...

Oh I want to hear this missypopcorn::

Pool progress is almost at an end! :thumbsup2 I'm told we should be swimming by this weekend. Who wants to join me? :rolleyes1 At least we don't have snow. :goodvibes

I can be there in about 18 hours!:lmao:

Still feeling like crap,

Feel better:goodvibes

Sounds like fun. I don't think Jim and I have seen agrown up movie in a theater since we had Jimmy:sad2:

The husband of one of my Moms Panel friends, I spent quite a lot of time chatting with him in September and he is the nicest person ever :thumbsup2

That's how all politicians appear in public:rolleyes1:lmao:

++++++++++++++++++

Had to take another break form work. Ran outside for a few minutes becasue it is 300 degrees in my office:headache:

:thumbsup2yep! That works! I sent them an email saying that their US site had bad links and they said:

No Moms Panel or anything and don't get me started on websites, the link to the US WDW site has been broken on the UK site for almost a year now and I can't say anything else :headache: :rotfl2: There is a DLRP section of the DIS which I'm sure could help you :thumbsup2

:sad1:

Yeah. Her husband had a urostomy, then eventually succumbed to lung cancer. She has COPD and has gone through a lot this year. It's not unexpected, it's just still kind of sad.

Rob and I have a date night finally. Well, strike that. It's really a date "afternoon" :lmao: We're going to see "Shutter Island" as a matinee this Friday and out to dinner at a great Italian place called Santangelo's. My parents are watching the kids. Have fun!

I'm so sorry CE, how old is she? And as you say it's tough on the people around her

She's 83 (her b-day is in August.) She's actually lasted so far a lot longer than I expected after my grandpa passed. ;) My mom's on the phone now, but Buzz won't get off the phone, so I can't get a read yet on what she really thinks about the options...

David is home early so football (soccer) is now on the tele :headache: I lov him loads but would rathe watch something else :rotfl2:

Do you get decent Olympics coverage? The only thing I want to watch, that I KNOW is live right now, is going to be time-delayed until tonight. Sigh.

Yes, senator is pretty high---only 2 per state so 100 overall and they have 7 year terms so if you don't like them, you're stuck.

Psst, it's 6 years... ;)

OK, thank you. As I said, I want to talk to Mom, but the kid won't get off the phone. :rotfl2: He seems to be relaying the whole plot of Monsters vs. Aliens. :rotfl2:

Anyway... We'll be in touch.

Oops, on the phone with Mom as we type. That would be the type of tube. The biggest issue - this is coming from the head RN at the home - sounds like it would be the social stuff - she barely wants to leave the room as it is, and if she's not forced to go eat with the group... And Mom thinks she worries so much about EVERYTHING that she'd still lay there in bed overnight, worried about it disconnecting and so forth.

But, we'll see.

Thanks, TE.

Mississippi is that spelt right? :rotfl2:

Yes, very good! :thumbsup2

Daran's plane made it to Charlotte---let's see if the next one can make it here....snowing hard

No way?? It's been broken that long?? That's ridiculous! You'd think they want business!
I'll check out the DIS....not sure why I didn't think of that---I don't stray too far away from here anymore--it's sceery!

+++++++++++++

wow--it's snowing hard---BA just called her grandma and asked to spend the nite...she's really bored....

+++++++++++

Janet---school is now ending 6/11 and that's the last day it's supposed to be without state intervention....we leave for Paris on the 16th.........:mad:tickets are booked.........

snowing REALLY hard....

anyone been to Fort Lauderdale?? I found a Courtyard near the Port....but I've never been there. Wanting a spot near airport and port....and a good restaurant for the nite...since we won't be eating much on the boat!

Sounds like fun. I don't think Jim and I have seen agrown up movie in a theater since we had Jimmy:sad2:
 I totally feel for ya!

My friend Cheryl has a condo in Ft. Lauderdale. She's also a travel agent. I can ask her about it. Or I can give you her name on FB for you to add. She's a DISer.
