It seriously just hit me that New Year's Eve is coming up, lol! What's everyone doing? I'll be home with Leo, probably going to bed early. :rolleyes:

We have no plans yet. My parents are here, as they usually are, and so at least D & I will likely go out to dinner. No parties, though.

That doesn't sound easy to me :rotfl2:

Me, neither! :faint:

Went to the mall today, D woke us up earlyish so we'd beat the crowds and it wasn't too bad. We didn't buy much but did spend a small fortune on a goose down duvet (about $180 :faint:) and I got a new pair of Merrell walking shoes. The girls however got nothing, they wanted some Hollister clothes but nothing was on sale so I told them not to bother :rotfl2: Jess and I then played 9 holes which was good to get out in the fresh air :thumbsup2

Sounds good all around.

*******************************************************
We are debating driving up to the lake area. D needs to talk to the marina guys, anyway, and Dad hasn't been up there. Just at a total loss of what to do. :confused:

OMG I hope he gets better quick, we have lots of stories about MRSA here :hug:

Thanks Jo. The doctors seem to think all will be well!

I love UP

:sad2:

So what did you wind up doing?
++++++++++++++++++++++++

I shouuld have just taken off work. Today there was so much drama. I have discovered that I HATE working with women. The cattiness and bi^%&ing really get on my last nerve:sad2::headache:

It was pretty nice out today, but now it is FREEZING. Jimmy had an OT appointment today that Jim too k him too, then they stopped and got Jimmy a new pair of sneakers. They apparently were having a great sale and he got them for $9:thumbsup2

Tonight we are going to play some Uno, and then Jimmy will be heading up to bed. He is going to his afterschool program tomorrow becasue they are going swimming (indoors obviously) and he wants to go. It works out good though, because then Jim can run some of my errands and do some laundry.

Have a good night all!:goodvibes

Hiya girls!

I read and am all caught up, but don't really have time to quote.

Jo - did Jess' phone work out ok? Oh and we have crackers here. I've always wanted to buy them, but had no clue WTH they were! :lmao:

CE - :thumbsup2 on the sewing machine! You could do doll clothes. ;) I saw this really cool computerized machine at Costco. I'm so tempted to go and grab it. My machine is 15 years old... it's an old school Kenmore.

It was a lazy day today. I put more freakin' LEGO together with Evan... for 4 FLIPPIN' HOURS! :faint: Anyway, he's happily playing with all his carp now.

Oh and I'm still nowhere on my packing. :eek: Tomorrow I'm going to the mall with TE and then I'll do laundry and start putting things aside to pack. I also made some changes to our trip plans, you know those last minute tweeks, right? ;) Tomorrow I get to do online check in! :yay

:hippie: T.

So what did you wind up doing?

Just wound up going to lunch locally. We started up to the lake, but it suddenly became a hugely heavy snow and the roads were AWFUL. When we got home, D & Woody went sledding. We have an actual plan for tomorrow, which will be better. D & I are doing a tennis class, then we will head up to the lake. :thumbsup2

CE - :thumbsup2 on the sewing machine! You could do doll clothes. ;)

Tell me what she needs! ;) No dolls in my house, sadly...

Yeah, see, I have one in the basement, but it was my grandma's, circa 1969. It does not work well. :rotfl: This is simple, but I can thread it! :rotfl2:

Woohooty! :cool1:

Janet- I still like you, even if you didn't like UP. ;-). And if you need patches sewed... Try the glue they sell at the scout store. I've heard it's amazing! Sorry about the girl drama... I hate girl drama.

CE- I love that you're sewing. I've always wanted to learn.

Jo- you are smart fir teaching the girls to not buy, if it's not in sale.

V- glad you and leo hit some fun stuff for yourselves. Is he loving the ds? My son loves his pokemon ds games and kingdom hearts.

Angela- what a fun day!

Our new years is going to be bland this year. Maybe dinner out, as a family??? We've Been in the mood for McCormick and schmicks and also tempanyaki. Other than that it'll be home for a movie and sleep. If I'm Feeling all better, then maybe we could go on rides at the mall of America. Tink has been begging to go see deigo in the Nick amusement park.

---------
hubby took the kids to the swedish museum today and I've been resting. Fever is gone, yet I'm still tired with a sore throat.

I've been actitch hooked on super Mario bros for the wii. Just a titch. ;-)

I'm also looking into renting DVC points for march. Just looking, so far. :-)

Hey all... unemployment is here so I ma trying to stay as active as I can.

Christmas was great, mellow and easy going. Not one call from my family tho, what did I expect. Xmas eve was at KC's boss' and Xmas day was at the in-laws. All in all a nice relaxing time. I got lots of goodies!!!!! Kitchen stuff, body lotions and sprays, a beautiful necklace, a harry potter replica thingie (of the time turner) and my fav gift: an ornament in honor of Bale. KC did good.

I did the grocery shopping, a bunch of cleaning, some cooking and defrosted my freezer today.

Tomorrow I am headed into the city for lunch with KC and then we are going to make one last venture to The World of Disney NYC. It closes in 3 days. I am hoping for some super sales even tho i don't get the CM discount anymore.

New Years we are staying home together. I am gonna make some dip and hummus and I got some shrimps and sparkling cider. We may head to a local bar where some friends will be after midnight. New years day KC is making us breakfast and we are staying in and relaxing, hopefully discussing plans for the upcoming year.

I am starting to plan our vow renewal (which is on Feb 5th) and I want to get invites out by 10 days or so from now. It would be nice if we decided where to go tho! I am looking into a place that specializes in desserts i think.

Anyways ice cream to be had, a fridge to organize and dishes to do before bed. Night all!

Evening all !!

Kat your vows renenwal sounds wonderful!!! I will be in Disney then !!!!

We are also staying home New Years Eve !! Getting lots of snax and jus chillin'!!

I tried this morning and couldn't - did I count wrong?! :teacher:

V- glad you and leo hit some fun stuff for yourselves. Is he loving the ds? My son loves his pokemon ds games and kingdom hearts.
He's totally and completely hooked, lol! And he hasn't even opened the new Mario/Sonic thing; he's all over Lego Indiana Jones right now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So it sounds like a lot of us will be home NYE... is it a drunk foreign language night?! :rotfl2:
CRAZY cold down here this morning: 40 with a wind chill in the 30s! :scared1: Yes, I know it's colder up north... but this is freaking FLORIDA!!! :sad2:
Hi all :wave2: Another crazy busy day here. Was up at 8am cooking-again. Made meatballs, mild and hot sausage and meatballs. About 10:30 I got a phone call from my one brother that they aren't coming becasue they were taking my nephew to the emergency room. He has MRSA on his leg, but should be fine because it hasn't proken open so shouldn't spread. He is on a very strong anti-biotic for the next 10 days. So all that food for 5 people. (my one nephew and Jimmy ate chicken nuggets. Have tons of leftovers!
I have to go back to work tomorrow, but only for 2 days this week:thumbsup2
What a shame for your nephew – that’s pretty scary – glad it seems like it will be easily taken care of!
I've heard more stories about folks cancelling out on Christmas dinner at the last minute this year (although your brother certainly had a very legitimate excuse)!
I like two day work weeks! I’m working three this week (it is SO quiet around here). My husband is home all week – lucky duck!
Omg! That quilt and the baskets are amazing!
Thank you!!
Hey, all, read but didn't quote. Love all the pictures, and Denise, the crafts are fantastic! Recipe, please, for the spinach pasta bake thingy!
Thanks! Here’s the pasta bake recipe – you can get people to eat spinach and they don’t mind!
1 small onion, chopped, 3-5 cloves garlic, minced; 8 ozs sausage (I used about twice this amount), squeezed out of casings and chopped (I used a mix of sweet & hot Italian sausage), 1 28-oz can crushed tomatoes, 1 6-oz can tomato paste, ¼ cup prepared pesto, 3 cups dried penne (I used the whole box), 1 5-oz bag of baby spinach (I used more and used frozen), 1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, ¼ cup Parmesan cheese.
In a large saucepan, cooking the onion and garlic in oil until softened, add the sauage and cook through. Stir in both cans of tomatoes and simmer 5-10 minutes, stir in pesto and season w/salt & pepper to taste. Cook the pasta al dente, drain and stir into the sauce along with spinach, mozzarella and half the Parmesan cheese. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13” baking dish and sprinkle w/remaining Parmesan. Cook at 350 degree until hot and bubbly – about 30 mins. From the MealMakerOverMoms.com
I did indeed get a sewing machine, so now I need something to sew! :rotfl:
Great!! I can send stuff for you to sew :rotfl2:
On Wednesday we are going to see Disney On Ice, which should be fun. Then I whave to do all the sopping for our NY Day get together/open house were are having. So, another busy week for us.
Fun! DH was just saying he’d love to see Disney on Ice!
What's on your list? I'm always looking for something good to read.
I’m all over the place with books – although I think my favorites kinds of books are memoirs and biographies. Some of the stuff next to my bed currently: Ghosts by Noel Hynde (a GREAT old-fashioned ghost story), The Glass Castle, The Christmas Cookie Club (which I regretted buying at first, thinking it would probably be silly, but is a really good book), Against Medical Advice (by James Patterson), Her Fearful Symmetry, Once Upon a Time (a Grace Kelly bio), A Thread of Truth (a quilting novel). And, I just finished The Lost Symbol - the new Dan Brown. I have too many books and not enough time!
Let me know what you think of it because I think I need some of those brain games too. I feel like this too often.
Ha ha – me too! And I have CRS (Can’t Remember SXXX). :rotfl: I was playing around with it last night and it seems like it will be pretty fun. I don’t know that it’s worth buying a DS for (but the kids got me a refurbished one, so I know they didn’t pay retail, thank goodness), but if your kids have one, I think the game would definitely be worth it! I’m going to start actual “training” with it today.
Back to work. Leo was at least happy to be with kids at day care this week, but we're both less than thrilled about getting up so early again. Fortunately, I've got Fri. off and am taking the following Fri. afternoon and Mon. off, so that should make the transition to normalcy a little better, lol!
I feel your pain – I’m not liking this 6:30am carp. Particularly when DH gets to sleep in (he's usually up at 4:15am though, so I should give the guy a break)!
We made it to TRU and Macy's yesterday... what a madhouse! I truly had no idea that lots of folks shop the couple days after Xmas. TRU was pretty cleaned out, but Leo grabbed a Mario & Sonic DS game and some figures called Gormitta. :confused: I exchanged the couple iffy shirts Gramma got me for a much-wanted pair of shoes. It was a good day.
Good deal!:thumbsup2
It seriously just hit me that New Year's Eve is coming up, lol! What's everyone doing? I'll be home with Leo, probably going to bed early.
I’d be just fine staying home (and it’s rare that I’m up until midnight, so it’s a struggle for me to watch the ball drop). We’re going to our friends’ house where they do fondue (which is always a production because they never have the oil hot enough and it takes forever to cook your food.) :sad2: I don’t know that we’ll stay until midnight (I know they’ll be disappointed), but they live about 20 mins away and DH just doesn’t like to drive after midnight on NY Eve and I don’t blame him one bit!
We have snow today !!! Winter is HERE!!!!
Well, our snow is all gone now, but freezing cold wind is definitely here in Philly today!! Brrrrrr!
That doesn't sound easy to me :rotfl2:
Well, it was easy, just not QUICK!! :rotfl2: But then, I like to cut fabric into little pieces and sew it back together for fun! :rotfl::rotfl:
Went to the mall today, D woke us up earlyish so we'd beat the crowds and it wasn't too bad. We didn't buy much but did spend a small fortune on a goose down duvet (about $180 :faint:)
I hope that was for you – it will be SO comfy!:goodvibes
Morning All !! Kyle and I are Dissing !!:) This morning he has been my helper !! He got out the cellar garbage, helped clan out the "Abyss" that was under the sink, washed the kitchen floor !!:banana: No he is not for hire !!:rotfl2: I'm keeping him!!! After all he is my Favorite Grandson:lmao:( He's:rotfl:at that):rotfl2:
Good Morning!
Kat- Is it sad that the WOD store is closing? Will there be a special Disney store in NY or none?
V- Those DS's are addictive! My ds goes through spurts and thankfully "forgets" about it for a while.
I can't believe it's that cold down there! That's MN weather, no FL!
Sounds like we'll all be in for a treat this NYE!
Janet- $9 tennis shoes? WOW! That's amazing! How's the work drama?
T- Is this an adults only trip? I'm jealous! (yea, I'm always jealous)
--------------------------
Still researching renting DVC points for March and watching movies and playing Super Mario Bros. We beat level 3 last night. hehehe Up now... Four Christmas'! Be back latter.
It is frigid here too!!!! I am no longer going to the city today, we changed it to tomorrow when it will (hopefully) be considerably warmer. Ok 35 isn't warm, but it beats the pants off 20 degrees!
I am going to hand wash my bras, organize my laundry, organize my kitchen, and do some general clean up.
I am also starting a day long marathon of Friends. I am on season 2. There is nothing on TV so why not watch downloaded shows?! I am also being super lazy and downloading Sex & The City seasons too. I own the dvds BUT they are too short and my media player plays them back to back.
Anyways enough procrastinating. Hope you are having a great day!
So it sounds like a lot of us will be home NYE... is it a drunk foreign language night?! :rotfl2:
Sounds good to me:thumbsup2:lmao:
Um, isn't he your ONLY grandson;):lmao:
Janet- $9 tennis shoes? WOW! That's amazing! How's the work drama?
I love a good deal ::yes::. Alot of people off today so it is pretty quiet:thumbsup2
+++++++++++++++++
Good Morning (checking to make sure it is still morning). The internet here at work has been down all morning and jsut came back up.
Drama free day so, but alot of people are off today so that helps. I am out the rest of this week, and may leave early today;) The wind chill factor here is 7:eek:
Jimmy went to his after school program for swimming today (yes an indoor pool:laughing:). Will be interesting since he hates geting his hair dried with a dryer (too loud). Just told his teacher to make sure he wears his hat and scarf, etc.
Hope everyone is having a good day:goodvibes
:rotfl2: Welcome to my world, sister! You've officially lost your boy to the gaming world.
Add me to that list! :thumbsup2
Hi Janet! Have a good day, too. :goodvibes
*****************************************
Just checkin' in before I head to the mall. Evan desperately needs jeans, so that's our mission. Kohl's is having a big sale, so we'll check there first.
Andy's been working lots of overtime lately, so we've hardly seen him since Christmas. :guilty: We were supposed to go to DLR for New Years Eve, but I'm just not feeling being cold and surrounded by strangers, so looks like we'll just go have a nice dinner and chill at home.
:hippie: T.
Jo - did Jess' phone work out ok? Oh and we have crackers here. I've always wanted to buy them, but had no clue WTH they were! :lmao:
It does :yay: we took it out this morning and it worked, the screen is a bit water marked but you can read everything :thumbsup2 And too funny about crackers :rotfl2:
I've been resting. Fever is gone, yet I'm still tired with a sore throat.
Great :goodvibes
Managed to catch up with all the ironing and laundry today, yes I have a fun life :rotfl2: I then took Ellie to her friends for a sleepover and it's rained all day!!! I also only have 2 more questions to answer and I'll finish on a nice round 1200 :thumbsup2
Good Morning!
Kat- Is it sad that the WOD store is closing? Will there be a special Disney store in NY or none?
Yea it's kinda weird knowing my piece of Disney in the city is gone. There are a few Disney Stores but not a World of Disney. There is talk of a large Disney Store opening in Times Square eventually, but I will NOT be applying.
Wow I didn't know you were doing that, don't spend more than you can afford :thumbsup2
Actually we are keeping it at about 15 people tops and asking everyone to pay for their own share of food in lieu of gifts. I just want people to spend the day with us that matter and have been there for us through everything, I could care less about gifts. Having my happy marriage again is gift enough.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok I need to find me a j-o-b. It's 1:30 and I am bored already! LOL.

Still haven't done everything on my list yet but I am trying to pace myself. I have a long time till KC gets home lol.

Hi again I have a couple of hours before work !!!
Kat I like your Renewal Plans !!!

Thankfor theKylecomments !!! Yes he is my only GS which is why I can say it:rotfl2:Would be trouble if I did it with the girls:rotfl2:

Are you doing a full vow renewal, like at a church or ?? :confused3 Maybe a cocktail party at home would be a good idea. :confused3

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Holy cow, I had to go all over the place to find jeans for Evan. Apparently he wears a very popular size. :faint: Finally found some at Kohl's. :teeth: I did manage to grab myself a new top to wear at our Anniversary dinner at Bistro and some new jammies. I don't know why, but I need to have new jammies when I go on a trip. :confused3
