Jon and his friend are offering up a loud rendition of Aerosmith on Guitar Hero. Me thinks that it won't be difficult to stay up to pick up my copy of Breaking Dawn. :headache:

You girls realize that we're down to about 10 pages left in this thread?? I'm thinking that Katt, Jen, Jen & I will have to keep this thing moving in Part 6 in a few weeks when everyone else is gone....

This strikes me as something like a train wreck... I want to know, but I'm terrified of knowing! :scared:

:lmao:

Well, for "home" use, I learned to ALWAYS use a good vegetable brush to wash your veggies--more people are getting sick from produce now than meats.
And never ever thaw meats at room temperature (ok in fridge or under cold running water), and never leave any food out ANYWHERE over 4 hours.

I learned that the "stomach flu" that we all get from time to time is really Norovirus which is a type of food poisoning we get (mainly from food workers not washing their hands after the bathroom). :scared:

....and wash your hands for 20 sec in 100 degree water.......a LOT! :thumbsup2

I learned enough to be a decent health inspector. :snooty:

So, I finally found some time tonight and figured I'd try to write a bit more of my American Girl Place trip report.

When we last left our excited vacationers, we had just gotten off the South Shore train at the Randolph Street station in downtown Chicago. The plan was to walk over to catch the redline subway at State & Lake, take it north two stops to Chicago Avenue and then walk three blocks over to the store.

We're really not talking about a lot of walking here (nothing like what you'd do at WDW), but my mom wore her sneakers because she has problems with her feet. DD7 and I both wore nice sandals. The ones I wore, I can wear on a full day trip to the Indy zoo with no problems, so I was sure that I could handle this trip in them. Now, my MIL was another story....

img_6131.jpg

As you can tell from this picture, she chose to wear slip on sandals. They had no back to them at all and had about a one inch heel. Needless to say, she was about half a block behind us at all times. DD7 kept wondering where Nana was....

Anyway, we made our way to the Subway station...
img_6144.jpg

We struggled to figure out the fare system. I used to live and work in Washington, DC and was used to the Metro there, where everyone had to have their own card. In Chicago, my MIL and my mom shared a card. I guess since your card is charged when you enter the system instead of when you leave, it can be used by more than one person. Anyway, we finally made it down to the platform.
img_6145.jpg

After reassuring my MIL at least four times that we were going the correct direction, the train finally came...

img_6147.jpg

We traveled our two stops and then made our way up the escalator. Someone in our party was quite excited by now....
img_6148.jpg

It was just after 11am when we got out of the subway. The schedule for the day was the theatre production at 12:30 and lunch at 2:00pm. We had eaten a "continental" breakfast at the hotel and then grabbed a small snack at the train station upon arrival, but none of us thought we could make it until 2pm without more food. Right outside the subway station, we found the Golden Arches.

DD had some chicken nuggets and I tried the Southern Chicken sandwich...
img_6149.jpg

Honestly, I think the McDonald's version has nothing on the original Chick-Fil-A, but I wasn't in the mood for a burger. My mom had a fish sandwich and I think MIL had a chicken wrap of some kind. Oh well, it was just enough to tide us over until our 2pm reservations.

DD's doll was perfectly content to sit and watch us eat....

After bathroom breaks all around, we headed out down the street to our final destination....

Saw the new Mummy movie tonight.... it was BAD! I think the biggest problem was them trying to replace Rachel Weisz. The movie just wasn't the same without her. :sad2:
Bummer. I just adore her.

Jon's having a friend spend the night...and I must stay up till midnight to go see if Edward finally bites her!

I'm saying he bites her, but after her "birth" she changes too significantly for him and they part.

Just in case no one wants to hear about predictions I posted above in white.

Ooh, Jodi! I've been trying to get Maddie to want to go to American Girl Place here in L.A. Perhaps reading your mini-TR is just the ticket! :thumbsup2
Your DD is completely adorable! :cutie:

Oh, I wish I had some magic to share with you! We've managed to get him down to only while sleeping - he tries really hard not to, since the dentist told him it's hurting his teeth, but it slips in there at night when he's asleep. FWIW, I sucked mine until about age 10.

I'm doing fine, thanks. Waldo not so much. :guilty:
Will you give him a virtual hug for me?
