Is it seriously messed-up that I'm jealous?! :rotfl:

:lmao: You can't ask me questions like that right now. My opinions are based in my reality today...and I could steer you over to the dark side very easily. ;)

I have to share a funny thing that happened to my brother on Saturday morning. He and my SIL took my younger nephew to Detroit on Friday to watch the Tigers play. They spent the night somewhere in Detroit and woke up Saturday morning and decided they wanted to drive into Windsor Ontario so that DN9 could say that he's been to Canada. Well, they got into Canada okay and had lunch, but had some problems getting back into the US. The border patrol detained them because they didn't have proof of citizenship. My brother (the hot-shot lawyer) didn't know that they needed to have passports to re-enter the US. They also didn't have my nephew's birth certificate, so the agent didn't want to believe that he was really their son! Now, anyone in their right mind can tell that he is my brother's son - they look identical. Anyway, after what seemed like forever, they were finally released with the warning that their car and DL numbers had been tagged and if they ever tried to do this again, they would be detained. I'm sure it was somewhat scary at the time, but I was laughing hysterically!!!!:rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi Gang... We are here.
I'll fill in details leter.. left South Carolina late... so we got in late.

We Are at All Star Music.

:thumbsup2

Be Good.... I'll say hello tomorrow sometime.

Have fun darlin!!! :hug:

He was in rare form between last night and tonight. Last night he was pretending that I'd hurt his arm while getting him in his jammies...complete with pained face and "ouchy" noises...causing me to freak out and jump back away from him and then he started laughing, "Gotcha!!!". Hmmmffff...very funny kid:rolleyes:

Then today I asked him to go tell his dad that dinner's ready. Tony was upstairs - Michael was down in the kitchen with me...

Me - Michael, can you go up and tell daddy that dinner's ready?
Michael - Ok...(he then goes and stands at the bottom of the stairs and YELLS, "Daaaaaad...DINNER'S READY!!!!"

THEN he said to me, "Geeze, did you hear me? I said Dad, dinner's ready. You could've done that yourself!" pirate:

Weasel.

:lmao: That is hilarious!!

Well Fockers the curse struck again this morning.
I spent it in the ER. Can you believe it??!! DH had a seizure as soon as he got to work @ 7AM. I worked until 6AM. I had been asleep for 15 minutes when I got the call. We've been through it before, so it wasn't that big a deal. They did the routine stuff. His DR. is switching his anti-seizure meds around due to the upcoming chemo. and the levels must not quite be right. Now he has to take a third scrip. :eek: We didn't get out until 11:45AM. They did a great job. It's just so slow and so much drama all around with other patients. A little baby had an ear infection. The poor thing was screaming like he was being killed every time they touched him.:sad2:

I'm leaving work early tonight. I want to make sure DH does ok the rest of the night. Now I'm off 3 days!:woohoo:

Be good and safe all!!

:hug: I hope everything works out hon.

Good Morning Gang...

It's Monday... and Now I know why we usually fly to Disney. EVEN driving about halfway was rough on an old woman and 1 boy who tried so hard to hold it together.

Joshua found out we were going back to Disney earlier than we planned, and I am not sure IF he wanted to go back home to play with his presesnts from his bithday the day before, or he was homesick, or remembered the tip here last month and was having bad flashbacks.. but the trip looked OVER up until 10:30 am :scared1:

When we got the greenlight... we were out the door in 20 minutes.
Most of the tip he and Sara were angels. But the last 2 hours he began to fret and wanted to go home AGAIN:sad2: ... so I sat all the way back in the van.. and he laid in my lap... yup.. no seatbealt for him. But he calmed down till the horrible storm came in... UH did't we LEAVE FLORIDA under the same conditions LAST MONTH:headache:

He just woke up.. so are gonna get at it.

I actually love the theme of these ALMu rooms. We are in the "Stagedoor" Bldg right at the Parking LOT..so... SO FAR.... SO Good !!!:thumbsup2

Katt...have a great time!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am beginning to unpack all of our crap. :rolleyes:
Other than that...nothins going on. I"m going out to lunch with meeska. Since the motha "incident" I am needing wine earlier in the day. :angel:
Jk...or am I???
Hi ladies!
Note to self - I'm on page 208. I should have time to really catch up, being at my mom's, and it sounds like I'd be missing a lot if I don't.
Margie, I am sorry.
Jen, I hope you're home and happy. I'm sorry about motha. :headache:
T, just more :hug: to you.
LL, hope Michael's doing OK.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had some big family drama this weekend, too, but it was just silly and I'm not emotionally invested in it. It's interesting in the way a soap opera is, to me - not something I care deeply about.

Suffice it to say, one of D's stepsisters is really nutty, and LEFT her DH and DS in WI and drove home to Illinois. Left them with her family and no car. Left.

She came back to get them Sunday, thank goodness, but... Can you imagine?

Then, when I got to my mom's house, my grandpa (you may remember, his lung tumor was growing right before I went to France?) had decided Sat. night whilst my mom and all the family were at a second cousin's wedding, to drive himself to "get meat" - never mind the fact that they have 3 or 4 cooked meals in the house. He is supposed to be housebound - they have a car so my mom can drive them to dr. appointments.

So, he tried to call the nurse they had asked to "be on duty" whilst my mom was at the wedding. She missed his call, then tried to call back, and he didn't answer. So she called my mom at the wedding, mom had to call a neighbor to go make sure they weren't in the house but unable to answer, then the neighbor saw the car was gone. So mom had to call around town and found him at the tavern/restaurant. :headache:

Maybe 45 minutes later, he fell. My grandma is tiny and couldn't get him up.

So mom got another call at the wedding, had to drive 45 minutes home, took him to the ER and so forth.

Then last night my grandparents wanted her to come stay with them, just in case something happened. Well, that's OK - but she can't do it every night. :confused3 And they knew it was our first few hours here...

She is angry. My dad is pissed. I am unhappy. We all think he just got mad for being "abandoned" and drove, then got mad when mom was upset that he drove, lost his concentration and fell.

I can't imagine what it's going to be like next weekend, when we're all FIVE HOURS away. :scared:

People should be allowed to be somewhat selfish when they are ill. But he's 84 and takes TOTAL advantage of my mom. I never, ever, want to be this much of a burden on anyone. She had to drive him, then, to an orthopedic appointment today because he hurt his shoulder when he fell. Woody was crying because he wasn't going to spend the day with Grammy. :sad2:

I know it's a hard call, and maybe I'm being harsh, but I think it's time to consider a move to a nursing home. I love my grandparents, but they are NOT independent - they just are dependent on my mother. And I'm worried about her - she's 62 herself, you know? Not that it's old, but she doesn't need to be doing this.

Sorry. Sigh.

I need to go see what the kids are up to. My dad started a tractor for them, so... ;)

Hugs to all! :grouphug:

:hug: Oh CE. :hug:

It's hard. Maybe you need to sit down as a family and discuss options and what is best for everyone.

Loved the Lawyer in Canada tale! We live 5 mins from the border and so far they are taking drivers license but we always have birth certificates for the kids ! Next year it's gonna be passports!! I don't think it will be worth the expense and the hassle to get one !!

HI T, JEn and CE :wave2:

Jen - say hi to Meeska for us.

T - :hug: I know you still need them;)

CE - So sorry, thought maybe since you were away from the Fockers you might have come away from last week unscathed. Hope things work out with your grandpa and you are able to enjoy the rest of the trip:hug:

:hug: Oh CE. :hug:

It's hard. Maybe you need to sit down as a family and discuss options and what is best for everyone.

Thanks, Jen.

Part of the problem is my mom's brother. He is 56, unemployed, (because he quits every job he gets, not because of any sad, sad story) and just decided to move from one block away from my grandparents to MO to live with their son. :confused3 And still be unemployed. And his wife left a paying job and doesn't have on in MO.

He's been saying for a while that the parents should move to a home, but up until now, it didn't seem totally necessary. But, when mom called him Sat. night, he said, "Well, I sure hope the home care nurse can come a lot. You'll need to substitute extra to make that money."

Nice.

I mean, he can't keep the water on in his own house, :rolleyes: so I guess he can't contribute to his parents' needs, but... And he sure didn't help a lot when he lived a block away, either. Mom STILL drove them everywhere, etc.

At any rate, I think to an extent my mom was not agreeing with him kind of stubbornly because it was him, but it may be time. I talked briefly with my cousin this morning, and I think she thinks that, too. Her parents had been a great help to my grandparents, always, but they were killed in a car accident several years ago. :sad2:

And, now my uncle is calling my mom and complaining that the wedding (it's their daughter's wedding that is the weekend coming up) is costing more than they thought, and hinting about needing money. My cousin the bride is an awesome person who deserves a great day, but... I sure hope we don't drive 5 hours for something that is not happening! :upsidedow

As always, thanks for letting me vent! :grouphug:

HI ladies...thought we could all use a good laugh. Jim said this reminds him of all of us (even though he hasn't met any of you)

Hagar.jpg

Janet, thanks! :goodvibes

Mel, sorry about the in-laws.

Kristel, I hope your DH is OK.

Lori, glad the kids are back. What a schmuck.

Dawn, hope your mom does OK!

LL, love Michael's attitude! :rotfl2:

Jodi, love the Canada story. I remember the first time I went (circa age 10) I got REALLY worried because we didn't need proof in those days, but the border guards asked my dad about where all the people in the car were born. My cousin was riding with us, so dad said, "3 Illinois, one Texas" but I was actually born in Terre Haute, IN (I think dad was just thinking residency...) I was sure I'd get in trouble. :rotfl:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All caught up. I need to probably not ignore my kids so much. :lmao: Hopefully mom will be home in about a half hour.
We participated in our com DS is a great salesman and I enjoyed watching him make change and converse with his "customers". He was excited to earn a little money for his Christmas shopping (his idea) and let me put $13 of it into his savings.
Our babies grow up too fast. far too fast. What a great guy to be saving. You are doing good with him:thumbsup2
Janet- LOVE IT! Does your DH know us, or what!
Kristel~ OMG! Is your DH better today? :hug:
Lori~ I am so happy that the kids are back home with you. What an "butt" your soon to be EX is! So he has enough $$ to go to California, but not be with his kids?
Dawn~ I hope your check up is good.
LL~ BOYS! Kids! Gotta dish it back out to him.
CE~ Family...:headache: I hope you are having a fun time otherwise.
V~ How long is horse camp?
Rachel~ Get some sleep kiddo!
Lessa & Kat! Yoohooo, how are you???
Hey Jen!
I'm fine, getting over a cold that has been kicking my butt for the past week.
Found out today that my grandmother who lives in BC gave my dad a sizable amount of money (advance on his inheritance) and he is now retiring within the year and moving out to BC to live close to her (it killed him not being there for grandpa in his last days) and he always planned to retire out there anyways in the next few years. This is good and bad news for me. Good news is that I will now have a free place to stay when I vacation out there (he is only going to be an hour drive from the Rockies) the bad news is that we will barely get to see him once he moves as plane tickets to the West Coast are super expensive, talking $800 minimum for basic economy ticket. :scared1:
Jen - say hi to Meeska for us.
I did. We just got back from Red Lobster...where we stuffed ourselves too full and Jen may or may not have had a mid-day pina colada. Hey...it's 5:00 somewhere...right??? :rolleyes1
Thanks, Jen.
I think you guys really need to sit down and see what would be best for everyone. Taking care of family is so hard...and if you (or whoever) can't do it...then you need to take those steps to make sure they are taken care of. Falling is so dangerous. If things like this are happening, then it's time to sit down and decide what to do. :hug: It's so hard sweetie. I'm so sorry.
Jen, Jen~ What did Motha say when you left? (did you post that and I missed it?)
She said: "Aren't we going to talk about what has happened before you leave?" Or something like that.
And I said nope...and I left.
Okay, this really applies to me right now... see below.
Lessa - hope you feel better soon. That stinks about your father moving to the other side of the country. But it will be a nice vacation when you can get there. Will he come back to visit you and your brothers???
I did. We just got back from Red Lobster...where we stuffed ourselves too full and Jen may or may not have had a mid-day pina colada. Hey...it's 5:00 somewhere...right??? :rolleyes1
Jen - you deserve a few mid-day pina coladas! When does the new job start?? Is Jon happy to be home with his Lilo and his friends?
-------------
Well, my girls had fun at day camp today. I came home and cleaned up the house. Took me all 3 1/2 hours!
But we do have some big news! DH's work has their "holiday" party in January in a exotic location. Last January we went to Puerto Rico for the weekend. Well, they announced this year's location on Friday.... SAN DIEGO!!!!! Both DH and I have been to San Diego before and have no desire to go back to the zoo or wild animal park, so we figured that we'll just drive up the coast a bit to.... ANAHEIM!!!! That's right, we're going to Disneyland!:banana: :banana: :banana:
We'll fly out on Thursday morning, spend the afternoon and all day Friday at DLR and then drive down to San Diego on Friday evening. Not sure what we'll do on Saturday, but we've got a dinner with the company on Saturday evening.
T - I'll be asking for some planning help in the coming months!
Also, I bought the girls' WDW tickets today through Undercover Tourist. I heard a rumor that ticket prices are going up on Sunday, so I wanted to get them before the increase. DH & I have our APs from last December.
I hope he comes out to visit but who knows, we only see him once every few months as it is and he only lives an hour away so I imagine it would only be a visit every few years once he is across the country. :confused3
That's right, we're going to Disneyland!
:woohoo:
:hug: . $800 that's for all of you right:scared:
That's awesome.:woohoo: There is a conference in Anaheim in February for us. I am already lobbying as to why I should take one for the team and go:rolleyes1
:hug: . $800 that's for all of you right:scared:
Nope that is for just one seat. Airfare in Canada is ridiculous, that is why I fly from the States whenever possible. It is because there is no competition up here. There are basically two airlines WestJet and Air Canada. The $800 I quoted is from the "bargain" airline (WestJet).
I'm back online!!! whilst I was typing a most excellent response about broken bones.........Bear was chewing the keyboard wire.....:mad: Had to go get another keyboard.
Did anyone miss me??
So.......CE--:hug: sorry about your grandparent drama. Sounds like he needs to be in assisted living at least--that is a lot of responsibility to your mom. And they need a life alert alarm too.
I'm leaving for Atlanta tomorrow for a work conference--prayers for me. Gonna drive by myself--about 6 hours if you pretend Atlanta has no traffic!
What's up with everyone?
TE- You'll be OKAY! Keep your cell phone charged, doors locked and tank filled. How long do you have to go for?
Lessa- That is a lot of cash for a flight across country. Hopefully your dad will be happy there. Where do you fly from in the US?
Jodi- Disneyland here you come! :cool1:
Jen, Jen- I don't often go to RL, but when I do... I love me some of those biscuits they have, YUMMO!
I painted nails today and did laundry. I don't often paint my own nails, therefor I am not too good at it. But Tink and I had a jammy and hang out Monday, from our busy weekend. Tink LOVES to have "paint nails" the same as momma!:love: My ds is at a playdate for the day = GIRLS day!
