Gonna do plenty of cooking today, its been the theme of the week! Our friend Ricky is coming to stay over tonight, he's moving back to Miami this Sunday so we are stealing him for the night and feeding him some slow cooked ribs (his fav).

Is this who you are visiting after Disney:confused:

Hi all. Busy day here as we are getting ready to leave for the holiday weekend. Bug got a new hair cut that he said makes him look like a rock star. Nana made a cake but it is over done so we will be getting one at the store to take with us. I won't be able to check in all weekend as we will be camping or at the lake. I might be able to sneak on at the lake but not sure yet. Does any one else get withdraw when you can't at least read something form here? I was hoping for an update on Dawn. I guess I will be in the dark until Mon. If any one is willing to call me please do. I gave my phone number to Kat when I sent the contact info. for the meet. She can give it out or call me. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will try to check in one more time before we leave and see if there is infor on Dawn.

Isn't the UK National Anthem the same tune as "My Country Tis of Thee"?? But it's "God Save the Queen", right?

She ain't going to stand up, 'cause she ain't no Brit!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Witchy poo and I fought over the fact that she doesn't pull her weight around here. I told her I am drowning in work and she needs to take at least 1 or 2 of my old clients (I have over 80 that need to be transitioned). She didn't take a stinkin one. :mad: I basically threw my hands up and said FINE! and put my headphones back on to let her know I was done with the conversation. Can't wait to see what she says in my annual review that is due July 24. Don't think I won't make good use of the section call Employee comments. Oh yeah, I will be professional but extremely honest! That's what I like best about our review process the employee always has the last word.:stir:
I know I'll wash her mouth out :rotfl2: And yep it is so stupid!!!
Because we have to think of all the imigrants, you can't believe the stuff that goes on here :sad2:
:confused: But, once they IMMIGRATE, they BECOME a UK citizen, right?? What's to offend??
And yes, I think we should have stuck with "America the Beautiful" or "our country tis of thee".......I saw Jay Leno trying to get people to sing the national anthem and many sang this anyway! :rotfl: ..............and I'm not sure ramparts have the same meaning now anyway.
Ok---best patriotic songs..............
Here's my fav: (made me cry alot after 9/11)
Title: Proud To Be An American
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
That's fantastic :thumbsup2
OK here's my favourite patriotic song
Rule Britannia
When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main;
This was the charter of the land,
And guardian Angels sung this strain:
Rule, Britannia, Britannia rules the waves;
Britons never never never will be slaves.
The nations, not so blest as thee,
Must, in their turns, to tyrants fall:
While thou shalt flourish great and free,
The dread and envy of them all.
Still more majestic shalt thou rise,
More dreadful, from each foreign stroke:
As the loud blast that tears the skies,
Serves but to root thy native oak.
Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame:
All their attempts to bend thee down,
Will but arouse thy generous flame;
But work their woe, and thy renown.
To thee belongs the rural reign;
Thy cities shall with commerce shine:
All thine shall be the subject main,
And every shore it circles thine.
The Muses, still with freedom found,
Shall to thy happy coast repair:
Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,
And manly hearts to guard the fair.
OK I must admit the only bit I like is the chorus Rule, Britannia, Britannia rules the waves; Britons never never never will be slaves. :rotfl2:
:yay: :yay: :yay: Oh I'm so glad!!!! I wonder how long she'll have to stay in the hospital!
Those are good words! What's the tune??
Hello everyone! Thank God Dawn is ok! I was thinking about her all morning! :hug:
Jo: I love the words for that song too! God save the Queen reminds me of Eddie Izzard. "God Save the Queen, send big dogs to bite her bum!!" ha!
He's a genius!
Kat: How do you make your ribs? I'm making a turkey loin on the grill. Corn on the cob and brown rice. Maybe some pear cobbler for dessert. I'm starving right now though, so I'm off to make a fat free turkey sandwich on WW bread.
MEL:banana:
:yay: :yay: :yay: Oh I'm so glad!!!! I wonder how long she'll have to stay in the hospital!
I am guessing if it is anyting like a C-Section it could be 3 to 5 days, depending on fast they get her up and walking--and as long as she doesn't start playing Jeopardy with the Morphine drip (Not that I know anyone who has ever done this):rolleyes1
ANd I am also guessing that she will be limiting in walking and climbing stairs for a little while too...Where is Rachel she is our resident nurse!
You going to be there in October?? I'd be happy to buy you one then!
Kind of - for one night! But I'll be at the Poly for 2ish hours 10/31. ;)
Can't wait to see what she says in my annual review that is due July 24.
What?! She's still in charge of your review?!
And yes, I think we should have stuck with "America the Beautiful" or "our country tis of thee".......I saw Jay Leno trying to get people to sing the national anthem and many sang this anyway! :rotfl: ..............and I'm not sure ramparts have the same meaning now anyway.
What the heck IS a rampart?! It's funny - I never much liked "America the Bueatiful" until I heard it sung by Ray Charles. Gave me chills, he did. :goodvibes
Ok---best patriotic songs..............
Well, my all-time favorite music is Tzaichovsky's 1812 Overture, preferably done with real canons and church bells. :cloud9: I make my poor family listen to it in its entirety every 4th. After reading the Constitution and as many Ammendments as they'll allow before smacking me. :rotfl:
But as far as songs go - I've always enjoyed "You're a Grand Old Flag" by the great George M. Cohan:
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
and as long as she doesn't start playing Jeopardy with the Morphine drip (Not that I know anyone who has ever done this):rolleyes1
:lmao: Dawn, I hope you're fully enjoying the drip! :thumbsup2 Glad to hear the good news before heading out. :hug:
