This photograph is really nice.
Thanks, I'll tell D.

So, how well do you speak French? I would be really intimidated at the thought of not speaking the language...and the idea of trying to order food!?!?!? Forget it.
It really looks like a beautiful city.
Not well at all. I took Spanish in h.s. from a woman who talked about her dogs, horses, kids and DH - IN ENGLISH.

But since I'd had 4 years of language I was covered for my college degree. Once I went to work for the U. I took a couple of semesters of Italian over my lunch hour, for free, and got pretty good. Then we moved to El Paso. Back to Spanish. Not well. "Hablo solamente un poco de Espanol. Un momento, por favor."
Anyway, I listened to some podcasts of French before we went. The grammar works the same, so I picked up on that part quick enough, but the vocab just wasn't there.
But I was the only one of the 6 of us who tried. All waitstaff turned to me, all guides, all ticket takers... And I tried. And they were really, really nice about it.

In fact, I was kind of pleased that some people would speak English to the others and then French to me - must have looked like I was getting at least some of it! Tres bien!
CE- I want to go back to Paris sooo bad! I love, love, love the report!
Thanks.

I was glad to see that I was right in loving Paris back in 1996.

And you spelt colour right just for me, actually I've been meaning to ask, I see you and other fockers saying whilst alot now, have you ever written it in one of your essays?
Oh, I know I'm not V, but I write it in e-mails, say it (like TE, I get some looks) think it...

Another lovely day CE, when we went to the Louvre we weren't allowed to take photos of the Mona Lisa, we also couldn't believe how tiny it was
Well... You're not supposed to use flash. And D didn't, thus the halfway decent photo. They've covered her with glass, so all these people were flashing away, and of course it all just bounced off the glass.

We felt vastly superior for turning the flash off.
And she's tiny - I remembered that from before!

The girls and I went to the dentist today and we're all fine, he is a little worried about Jess as one of her canine teeth is still a baby one and isn't even wobbly so we've got to see the orthodontist,
luckily it's all free for the girls
Show off.

Glad you're all doing well, though.
"Rope drop" - this cracked me up!
It was the only way that I could think of it!

No way?! I'd be frozen!

I was in pants but flips, which was bad enough - I felt really bad for all the little teenagers in their tiny dresses.

Winged Victory!!
Isn't she lovely?
So here is some of what we did this weekend (when I was not sitting on the computer ~ editing).
Great pictures!
Love the Gay Paree.. pix ! I actually never went to Paris but was in France for the day I believe it was Calais!! Have been to Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland , Italy, Spain and Yugoslavia though!!
That's a lot! In 1996 we did England (I know you've been there

) just London, though - France (Paris only, driving a bus through to) Lausanne & Lucerne, Switzerland, Innsbruck, Austria, then Munich. Oh, and we drove through Lichtenstein (sp?) on the way to Austria. But that was all just in 10 days and it wasn't nearly enough time anywhere. I loved it all...
Now I can add Monaco and Italy (for an hour!) to the list. I'd really love to see more of England and Scotland and Ireland, and also really do Italy sometime. I love to travel...
