Teacher rates?

DH is a teacher. I just read something about teacher rates in a testimonial on mousesavers.

Do these rates still exist? Are they as good as or better than any code rates I might find? Or are they not as good?

Our trip is planned November (before Thanksgiving) or early Dec. of next year.

Thanks!

Lisa

The Swan and Dolphin have Teacher rates, pretty good ones too. I don't know if they have any specials for your dates yet, but it couldn't hurt to check on their site (at the top of this board).

Hi pasmommy,

We used the teacher rate last August (three rooms) at the Swan, The rate then was $159 plus tax for a standard room. Believe you have to call the hotel directly. The number should be on their website. We had a most magical time there and would stay there again, or at the Dolphin. These are the only hotels that have a teacher's (or nurse's, gov't) rate. Location just can't be beat. Have fun!!

Oh yeah, we get "special" rates since DW is an attorney. They're called "Rack Rate" ;)

My DH is a public defender and employed by the state, so he qualifies for the govt. rate. But he also qualifies for that state salary, which is LESS than I made teaching full time:( Shhh don't tell him I told you that.

Maybe you can get a good attorney rate if they deduct your cost/fees ahahah Just kidding, I am sure even Mickey can spare a hug for an attorney!!!

LOL, that's okay. I'd rather get rack rates with a rack salary than teacher rates with a teacher salary. ;)

have had great rates for Teachers and Nurses but from what I have heard and seen, they becoming fewer in number and blocked out for more times.

You do need to provide a state license and yes, the do check it!

We loved our stay at the Dolphin and would HIGHLY recommend it! Be sure to join SPG (www.spg.com) as a member to get some additional perks.

Enjoy!

There are teacher/nurse/government rates at the Swan/Dolphin. Hopefully they will have your dates!

I really am posting to say that someone needs to clean up my computer moniter of the diet coke I just "laughed" all over it! Thanks for the smiles, everyone!

What do you show at checkin to prove you're a teacher? Something from the school or just your ID?

I have shown my state teaching certificate. I have used the teacher rate several times for stays at the Swan and Dolphin. We love it there. And...we get comp upgrades which are so magical. Thanks to Starwood resorts (spg)!

Hubby and I just showed our paycheck stubs and that was ok. They ahve the name of the school district on the stub.

The Teacher's rate can be found on the swandolphin.com site, the spg.com site and on Dreams Unlimited. It's not unusual for one or more sites to not have it available for a given date but to find it listed on one of the others. This month I got 3 dates I wanted at Swan on spg.com, three more on Dreams Unlimited for Dolphin and we were shut out of the middle 2 dates on all sites, so we did some resort hopping. On spg.com and swandolphin.com it only lists it as the Gov't rate, but it's the same thing. Make the ressie on line then call the hotel and tell them you're a teacher and you're good to go.

Yeah...we are quite cuddly...despite common misconceptions! Heck, we usually don't even bill for hugs! Plus, in those rare situations where we do, it's usually no more than 2 tenths of an hour.

What id would a retired teacher show as they don't get a paystub and mom's pension is direct deposit.

We are thinking of staying onsite either in Dec 05 or Feb 06 (during school vacation times...busy, I know). A teacher discount would be great. My question is, when staying at the swan or dolpin, does it really feel like you are on-site? Would we be missing out on any magic? Until now, I was considering POFQ or riverside.

We've stayed at moderates and values 4 other times and S/D is our first choice. One can see the ToT and the Epcot dome from S/D as well as the Boardwalk. It doesn't get more 'Disney' than that.
