This had me excited for a minute.
Then I saw the part where most of the changes take place pre-show and finale.
So they update the queue and change the movie at the end? Lame.
Don't get me wrong, I love the ride.
My problem is that I know most of the movies in it because of my parents nostalgia, not my own. I'm 24. My daughter will not be able to relate to many of these films at all. She likely won't even know or care who Clint Eastwood or John Wayne is. Some of the scenes need to go and be replaced.
The problem with this attraction, in my opinion, is the biggest problem with Disney as a whole right now. Nostalgia is the enemy of progress. Tomorrowland in MK looks more like "what we thought tomorrow would be like yesterday." Future World in Epcot is lacking, to say the very least. The Great Movie Ride should be called "The Old Classics Movie Ride". No "great" movies were made in the last two decades?! How about an update? What new, relevant filming related attractions are even at Disney's Hollywood Studios? A temporary cheap Frozen makeover? Indiana Jones is not relevant anymore, regardless of the latest film. Nothing is filmed at the park anymore. Star Tours is literally the only thing I can think of that is relevant to modern filming. So, I say again, what is this....Disney's Flashback Hollywood Studios, or just DHS? DHS should be an always changing park with new franchises and new filming attractions coming in. EPCOT should be a world always changing, showcasing new technology. Leave the nostalgia to MK. Does anyone honestly think Walt would be happy with DHS and EPCOT right now?
So, a little offtrack, but relevant still.
