Hey Dis Friends-

TCD is back from a quick weekend trip to the Fort.

Had to keep things on the DL so I could do my undercover spying.

I have lots of photos, so let's get started:

Here is the shoeless shoe tree:

Picture065.jpg

This was already reported here. But, I did not believe it until I saw it! The tree actually had been fixed up earlier this year. There were even some shoes that looked like they were nailed to the trunk. Now- nothing!

Here is a photo that I took especially for Colson39. This is the back corner of the Settlement Trading Post. You will remember that when I last visited this trading post was closed for remodeling. Well, the overall effect is good, but this back corner is now bare! It used to have an assortment of miscellaeous items. Now nothing!:

Here is a photo of the TCD spy mobile. We decorated for Halloween so we would blend:

I have more to report, so be sure to check back here.

ROFL !! Yeah, no one would notice you in your spy cart :rotfl2: Too funny.:lmao: Great report so far...looking forward to reading more.

Great Spy Cart! :rotfl2: I can see how it kept you on the "down low!" :cool1: I am sure no one noticed you! Good thing we have people out there like you using your wits to keep us informed! Keep up the good work! Keep em coming!

I met Tri-Circle D!!! He came by my campsite as I was packing up my "wet" mess. (Two weeks of no rain, and it rains all night before I pack up. Yuck!!!)

Carol-

Just so you don't get any ideas, I was wearing a disguise when we met.

Also, it rained hard Saturday night, too, so I had to haul a bunch of wet stuff home on Sunday, too.

It was good to meet you, although it was short.

I staked out your site a few times, but you were not around until I saw you Saturday AM.

Haha, I love it! Can't wait to see the rest of the spy report!

That stinks that the corner is now bare. They used to have quite a few interesting knick knacks back there, I have to admit it was one of the most unusual corners in any Disney store on property. It looks so bare now.

I'm hoping that shoe tree comes back with a vengeance, it looks so bare now. I don't want to have to tell baby Colson one day that "this used to be where they put shoes on the tree" :(

That's right, I nicknamed the baby "Baby Colson", for DIS purposes only of course ;)

Love the pics TCD, can't wait to see more. I need my Fort spy report!

OK, so on with the report.

At the Meadows Trading post, customers are invited to decorate construction paper pumpkins, and post them around the fireplace. Kind of like having your own brick on the walkway outside the Magic Kingdom, or your grill on the monuments at the entrance to Epcot, only a lot cheaper (FREE!). Got to love anything free at WDW!

What is this all about?

See the overturned fake rock? These are located along Fort Wildeness Trail, adjacent to the back of the 500 loop.

I think these guys might be working on the hot water lines for the camp sites, or the beer tap lines.

I'm not sure exactly what is going on here, but I thought that you all needed to see it.

There are quite a few large rocks along the road at this area of the Fort. What else are they hiding from us?

Got to thank the DD for this photo.

We went to order takeout from Trail's End on Friday night, about 5:30 or so.

This fellow was sitting in a rocking chair right by the entrance to the hostess stand- sawing logs! :rotfl2: There must have been 50 people milling around waiting to get in to the restaurant. This guy is blissfully taking a nap!

The photo cuts him off a bit, but you get the idea!

Got to love the Fort!

The Decoration competition is heating up at the Fort. I would expect that this coming week, there will be a lot more, but there were plenty at the Fort this past weekend. Here is a sampling:

This site is on the 500 loop. The Air-Blown inflatable features an old fashioned hearse with a "customer' in the back who pops up and down:

Here is another one:

These folks had the site on the 100 loop next to the sidewalk that leads to the Settlement Trading Post. They had decorations on both sides of the sidewalk:

This set up is on the 300 loop. The Hayride folks ride by this site. The pirate moves and talks:

Here is another inflatable hearse. This is the one horse model. A little smaller, but still pretty cool:

I have more photos, be sure to check back later.

Wow, I LOVE the Halloween pictures! Those look great. We're going for Halloween at the Fort next year for the first time in years, so I'm looking forward to more pictures!

As for the fake rock, I have seen those scattered throughout the Fort, at least I think I have (Disney might be tricking me :P ). I always thought they were for electrical and/or cable, but that guy doesn't seem to have very many electrical tools with him.

Can't wait for the rest!

So, last week there were some reports on this board that the Orange County Sheriff's office had a speed trap set up in the Fort.

I never saw any Sheriffs set up to monitor traffic, but this Sheriff's car was parked at a campsite all weekend:

Picture168.jpg

and, on all day Saturday, and Sunday, these folks had two cars parked at their site! As you know, this is a big "no-no" at the Fort. So what is up with that?:

TCD

I'm sure Disney didn't mind having a cop car parked at the site ;)

Yes it's against the rules, but having that car parked there also comes with some benefits. I mean, who doesn't like having a cop car parked somewhere near where they're staying!

I'm sure some people will be annoyed by this, but in the end I think there's nothing wrong with it. He also might have been on call and had to have his car close by in case.

OK, how about some more Halloween decorations?

These folks were set up on the 600 loop:

These folks were on the 300 loop. You had to walk through the inflatable haunted house to get to the motorhome's door:

This tombstone cracked us up (on the 1000 loop):

Do any of you like to bring sidewalk chalk along for the kiddos?

Check out this mouster-piece which someone did on the 1000 loop:

WOW! That chalk Mickey is awesome! Man, Disney has to love all the free advertising they get...lol.

And I love that Haunted House that you have to walk through, what a great idea. I have a feeling that next year I might have to make a special trip to the store for some inflatable Halloween toys :)

I love your "spy" cart. That is great. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Thanks for the pics! :thumbsup2

I sure hope I don't see a spider like that when we go to the Fort in December. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
I am scared of spiders. Especially big purple ones that try to eat trucks! :lmao:

And thanks for sharing your unique view of FW with us. What's this about a fake rock? There's nothing FAKE at Disney, that does not compute!

I also noticed this "faux" rock (and others) when I was there in September. They had coaxial or data cabels coming from them and the one in the picture cable's had not been buried yet. I opened it and peeked in- it appeared to be a central hub for Cable TV. I only saw them in the Preferred loops. I first thought they might be a WiFi Antenna. Maybe someone can clear this up.
