TCD / Dollar - Online Pre-Registration. What is it?

Hey all,

The Pre-Registration that Dollar offer when you're booked through TCD is somewhat confusing - i can't find out exactly what it is - i.e. is it just a quick time-saver or is it a fully-blown online check-in-bypass-the-counter-and-the-would-you-like-an-upgrade-crap go straight to car thing like some others?

I have never heard of this but I have everything else pre booked, seats, check in, etc . I will call them today and see what I can find out. I always like to haggle an upgrade from Dollar though. They are usually really good at getting you an upgraded vehicle cheaply. We have used Dollar many times, dont know whether that makes a difference

I've just done the intelligent thing and emailed TCD to ask them - should've done that first really . Will post when i get a reply

This was the response from Travel City:

From information I have been given you still have to go to the rental desk to collect your car. As far as we are aware you can't pre-register your details with dollar.

to which i replied that it was slightly confusing that they had this link on their website which is very helpful but doesn't explain what it is.....

Thanks for that its seems easy enough to do but I cant say it will save tons of time unless the Dollar worker is a really slow typer!! They always seem to have our adress details as we always rent with them but I will still do that pre registering thing thanks for that!

If you are on about dollar express members we used it last year, not with TCD. We had to leave them credit card details which they store on their comptuter. We had a flight out with virgin and then at orlando went to get a car. there was a long queue for dollar but we went next to it to the desk clearly marked express members and we were dealt with straight away. I felt like the queen.
Sorry if this isn't what you are on about but it sounds very like it. if you go to the dollar site you should see details for it.. we are going out in july and if i decide dollar car prices are good we'll use express again. saved lots of time. i felt sorry for everybody in the long queue they must have thought we were VIP's or something.
