I'm splitting my trip between Disney (All Star Movies) and Universal this year. What's the best (or cheapest) way for a family of five to make the trip to HRH? I was thinking of taking a taxi. How much would that be?

Taxi can be expensive but you could try mears shuttle service I think its about $16 per person but if you are going oneway then you will have to check to see how much they charge

I've used Mears lots of times and I'm not knocking them. But last summer we took a Mears shuttle from the airport to our hotel (Doubletree at the Entrance to Universal) and it was $17 per person. There were two of us, so that was $34. Because the shuttle had to make many other stops before it got to our hotel, it took well over an hour for us to arrive. We didn't buy the round trip because we were changing hotels during the stay - one night at the cheaper hotel and one night at the Hard Rock to get FOTL passes. Took a limo from HRH back to the airport and it was $40. The extra $6 was definitely worth it. We didn't have to make all those extra stops and we got to ride back with just the two of us in a comfortable Cadillac Escalade.

Since there are 5 of you the Mears Shuttle would be as expensive as getting a car service, and the car service you can get the grocery stop if you want. IWe use transportation2disney.com when we go down and they have not failed us yet! HTH :thumbsup2

i do the same.
i split my trip from disney on site to hrh at universal each year.
(some years i do rph or pbh instead)

since you have 5 people in your group to relocate, you would be better off using car service.

i would recommend a couple but dis no longer supports them and their name would be starred out.

it would be $50 for a one way trip.

i took a taxi before and there were 2 of us.
from disney to hrh it was $36 plus tip for that time.

taxis charge by person, mileage and time.
if you would travel in rush hour, it would cost more as of the time it would take for you sitting in traffic.

do car service. they will accomidate up to 5 without extra charge.

Thanks everyone for your input. It looks like a car service is the way to go based on the number of people we have in our party.

Thanks also reminding me about transportation2disney.com. I used them all the time in the past before the free Magical Express.

I have not heard of a taxi charging per person. we are a family of four and went from the Poly to Hard Rock with the Taxi Van ( that is a huge taxi to accomodate our 7 large suitcases) and it cost $34 without tip. We asked the Poly to arrange for a large taxi and that is all we paid.
