Taxi or rental car from RPR to WDW Dolphin?

What would be most efficient: taking a taxi from the RPR to the Disney Dolphin hotel, or renting a car and driving myself?

I would check out of the romm early in the am, spend the day in the park, then return to the hotel just to get our things and head to the Dolphin. Time is a bit of a concern since we have dinner reservations at 7:30.

Look at the rates for Mears Transportation. They run shuttles between the resorts also.
