I would love to run to Walmart on our arrival day.

We are not renting a car for our trip, using ME and the Disney busses.

I've used Garden Grocer in the past, but their prices are so high, I wonder if it would be cheaper and worth it to run to Walmart by either taking a taxi or renting a car for just 1 day.

Any idea how much a taxi would be from Pop Century to Walmart?

Any idea how much a rental car should cost for 1 day? Most likey on 12/10.

I'm thinking the taxi would be better so we don't have to worry about dropping off the rental car, etc.

Only 1 of us would go since we have a 1 year old, no car seat.

Your suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

Check out the WEGO shop website. Their fee is based on the dollar amount of your groceries. They will shop at any grocery store/Super Walmart etc. you want. We used them in December, our shopper called two times while in Publix to verify baby products for our GD. We also had them stop at a liquor store for us, no additional charge. We were thrilled with the servie, they arrived at the BW before us!

If it's just groceries you're looking to buy, there is a Publix much closer to Pop than Walmart, Approx 4 miles therefore an approx taxi fare of $12-$14 plus tip.
I wouldn't have the taxi wait as they will charge a waiting fee. Just get the phone number and call when finished shopping.
There is also an attached liquor store there if needed.

There is also a value in not having to go rent the car, drive it, or get a cab and shop and return the car and get back to the resort and bring the bags up to the room. I would see if the few dollars difference leaving to shop and the head ache outweigh the convenience. Just a thought.

How long will you be at WDW, how many are in your family, and how much food do you intend to buy? I can't see renting a car OR taking a taxi to Wal-Mart to "save" a few bucks on the food. Unless Garden Grocer is ~ $40 or more than what you would pay at WalMart - you'll just break even by going shopping AND you'll waste time.

Two possible options with rental car:
1) Alamo at the Dolphin - YOu can get there either by Bus to DHS and Walk or Boat to Dolphin - OR Bus to Epcot and walk or boat to Dolphin. I think Alamo has a shuttle, too; but I prefer WDW regular transport and walking to waiting for a specific shuttle. An economy could be rented to 35.56 noon 12/10 - noon 12/11

2) Dollar at the Wyndham Palace Resort near DTD. To do this, bus to DTD, walk across the street. You can get a compact for 33.43.

If you rent the car, you could stop by the outlets, too :).

I have to agree with TheWog. Time on my WDW vacation is much more valuable to me than the few dollars spent on a delivery service, much of which would be offset by the cost of a taxi or rental car.

I agree with TheWog, too - but you quoted me! ;)

Next time I am using the green grocer or other such service.....
