Hi all,

I know that this has probably been asked before but the search function is still down. Can someone tell me how much it costs to take a taxi from Orlando Airport to the All-Star Sports Resort. Also, do you have to make arrangements beforehand or can we just worry about that when we get to the airport?

Ali

Taxis in Orlando are not well regulated.

The cost could be anywhere from $50 up depending on your taxi driver and the traffic.

Personally I would reserve a towncar for better certaninty of the cost and to avoid some of the taxi horror stories. The Orlando Sentienl did a story once on how expensive and dirty taxis were costing Orlando convention business.

I'm not really concerned about it being dirty; it's a taxi cab. I just want a general idea. I really don't think we can afford a town car and I would rather not spend forever on the shuttle. I guess I should ask for recommendations of good companies and what is the most that anyone's paid?

Ali

Well, I don't think you are going to save any money on the cab vs the town car. (They seem to run about the same) Plus you can't really pick a taxi company, you just get the next one in line.

Well that might be good news. A towncar only costs $50? I can easily choose the taxi company. I just wouldn't get in the next one in line if it was one that people have had problems with. Not only that but on the way from ASSp back to the airport I can call whoever I want. Can anyone give me an idea of how much it cost them to take a cab from the airport to the Animal Kingdom area?

Ali

I don't know about Orlando, but in most cities you don't have that choice. I know for example in Atlanta there is a dispatch agent. He puts you in the next cab no matter what. (If you don't like it you go to the back of the line, which can be long in Atlanta)

At AKL, they will call you a cab from the company owned by Mears (can't think of the Taxi company name right now)

FloridaTours at the top of the page says they charge $55 one way and $105 roundtrip. Figure the cabs are about the same.

Is there a reason that I can't call my own cab from my resort? I don't agree that you have to just go with the company you are told to go with. We probably would be happy with just about any cab company but if someone on here said, don't use so-and-so then I would go to the back of the line I guess. I can't foresee this happening.

Does anyone know the cost of the cab? That's really what I'm wondering about. If it is less than $50 bucks then I'll go with a cab and not a town car.

Ali

There is no way the cost of the cab ride is less than $50.00...about 7 years ago we had a child from another family with us who became ill on the trip and whose mother arranged for her to fly home asap.

We had used a towncar service for our original transportation but at this last minute to get the child to the airport my husband had to take her by cab. He paid 50 each way including the tip. Keep in mind this was several years ago so I would imagine prices have gone up.

As for calling your own cab from the hotel I am not sure if the other companies can gain access to the resort (through the guard gates) if Disney has an arrangement with a certain company...not sure about that though.

Thank you very much Liz. That is what I wanted to know. Looks like we'll be going with Mears.

Cab fare would be about $50 before tip. There are taxis right at the resort. I think you would be better with a town car.

Rental cars are cheap right now. My rate for tomorrow for a week is $ll3. fees inclusive. for medisize car.

I have to go with the last poster, if you are going to pay that much for a taxi (or towncar) why not get a rental? Once at WDW we rarely use it, but it is handy having it if you need it during your stay.
