I tried searching but didnot find an exact answer.

Is it possible to take a taxi cab from DLR to the not too far (nearby) hotels, like HoJo? I am asking since at the end of the day, going back the half mile to HoJo with 2 tired kids can be very tough. Would the Taxi cabs entertain this?

At the end of a very long day we did this one time. Since the cabbies have to wait a long time in line they are not thrilled and will probably charge you some minimum charge. Our taxi cost $10 about 5 years ago. :)

thanks for the prompt reply... I guess the other issue would be carseats for the kids for the taxi...

FWIW, once you're to the area where the taxis hang out, you're halfway back already.

Do you have strollers? If they are stroller age and you weren't thinking about bringing your own, consider it. Renting strollers in the park seems like a good idea, but it's that walk back to the hotel that you REALLY want the stroller for! :)

I have an assumption that you could find taxi drivers who wouldn't care about carseats, but you'd need to figure out if that's acceptable for you. The ride will involve going back down Harbor, a u-turn, then back up Harbor to HoJo.

We took a cab from the Desert Inn to Paradise Pier for our Lilo and Stitch Breakfast last Friday. Thought it would save some time and it is a longer way to walk. It was $20. Which DH didn't mind paying but I thought that was a little pricey

We took a cab the other day from the Anaheim Metrolink/Amtrak station to the Marriott, and it was $11. I donno if that helps anyone estimate distance?

Legally, Orange County Taxis cannot charge a minimum fee.

The fee schedule is as follows:

$2.95 for the First 1/4 Mile (.40 Kilometre)
$0.65 for each additional 1/4 Mile (.40 Kilometre)
$30.00 per hour of Wait Time

When using a taxi, always check for the 'OCTAP' sticker, which should be displayed prominantely on the vehicle. Taxis without this symbol are not licensed to operate in Orange County.

Demand that the driver turn on the meter, even if they try to quote you a flat fare. You should never pay more than what the meter indicates.

If you have any problems, contact the Taxi Company (which should be indicated on the side of the Taxi). If they're no help, contact the Orange County Taxi Administration Programme (OCTAP) on (949) 654-8294. If at any time you feel your safety is threatened, contact 911 on any Mobile Phone.

We did this after a looooooooooong day at the parks and then dinner at Steakhouse 55. Cab fare from the DLH to Residence Inn on Clementine was about $10.50.

I can really see doing this.... from Steakhouse 55 in the DL hotel, the walk all the way back to HoJo's would be rediculous, especially with little ones. We the mistake one time of making our way over to PPH to eat at Yamabuki, then we decided to walk back.... I will never do that again! definitely a cab will be called! I guess though, you could just walk back to the pick up zone for the ART, but then if that's $3. I'd sooner pay the extra and take a cab right from the restaurant..... Then again, this is a bit off topic to what arbii was asking... :rolleyes1

We took a cab from HoJo to the front entrance of GCH, because we had dinner reservations for Napa Rose and I didn't want to walk there in high-heeled sandals! It was about $7.50 or so, we gave him $10 with the tip.

To me, that is extremely reasonable! and I would do the same! (next time lol...) thank goodness I had comfortable sandals.... by the time we were in downtown disney and realising what a huge walk this was turning into, it was too late, no where to call a cab. At least we worked off our meal! popcorn::
